View 5 RepliesI have got a project that i am currently creating that is a basic word processing application. There is the capability to have unlimited MDI child forms open however when you click on change font colour of something similar i only want it to do it in the currently active MDIChild. I have found the Me.activemdichild however i cant then access controls on that form.
View 4 RepliesI want to get the contents of the active child MDI form, how do you do that? Here's what I did to create a child form.
childForm += 1
If childForm > UBound(childForms) Then
ReDim childForms(childForm)
[Code].....
So say I want to get the text from an active form. How can I get the active form id so I can just do this?
childforms(childform).textbox1.text
I just starting to use MDI form. I can show the child MDI form, without any problem. My problem is that I want to close the child form also from the parent menu bar. This is my code:
Private Sub CloseToolStripMenuItem_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles CloseToolStripMenuItem.Click
Dim frmActive As Form = Me.ActivateMdiChild
[code].....
how to get all the active mdi child in an application..it is possible to work? me.ActiveMdiChild.Name
View 1 RepliesI am having trouble catching getting the currently active text input on a 3rd party window.
If I use GetForegroundWindow it returns the handle of the main process of that window.
When I have two MDI Child forms opened, it is difficult to visually see the active form versus the non-active form.I would like to have the Active Form stand out more, say a yellow border.
View 3 RepliesI currently have need to modify the Active Directory information for all of my users. At the moment, they have phone and mobile numbers stored in the format xxxxx-xxxxxx. The first x is ALWAYS a 0.
What I want is to do is enumerate all users in a chosen container in AD (with the option to include or exclude subcontainers), then read in any phone numbers they may have (bearing in mind not everyone has a direct dial number or mobile). I then need to replace the initial 0 with +44 (0) and write that information back into Active Directory.
I just signed up today, and i apologize if i posted in wrong section. It's my first time using VB or VSTA, I a have no programming knowledge.I'm creating an infopath timesheet, and im trying to have it set up to grab the persons name and manager from AD.
I read from a MS site on how to do it, but it was not clear enough for a beginner. Site: Adding User Information from Active Directory Domain Services to InfoPath 2007 Forms Now, I've taken a screenshot of what i did, but i really need help as i have to have this set up by this week.

I'd like to be able to get and set the different information for a user in Active Directory on Windows Server 2003 under Environment and Session tabs through a VB.Net application. I am familiar with System.DirectoryService but I can not find the correct attributes for these particular tabs. For example, I'd like to check "Connect Printer at logon" or set "Idle session limit".I've found the "ms-TS-Connect-Printer-Drives Attribute" and other attributes like it but they are only implemented on Server 2008.
View 1 Replieshow to put this on a background worker without getting cross thread errors??? trying to upload a childform object values to an access db.I don't work in IT,Our company's LAN so slow that it takes around 3~5 seconds trying to update/insert values in access using the code below so putting it on a background worker i think makes the app immediately usable once save/upload's called unless otherwise somebody could suggest a faster way to speed things up.[code]
View 2 RepliesI am new to VB; am developing my first VB program; and require some help in getting started. I wish to query information from an Active Directory server using a Visual Basic 2008 console application. I have .NET Framwork 3.5 installed and VB 2008 Express installed. Do I need to install anything else (any additional libraries or components)? Is VB 2008 Express capable of accessing information from Active Directory? Where can I find information about the classes and methods I should use query information from Active Directory?
View 6 RepliesI'm using the following code, which works, to login a user to an application built in VB.NET against active directory. This code works great but I need to retreive the user's first name, last name, display name and also check if the user is part of a group.
I've tried many forms of adResults.Property("displayname").ToString() and the like but just can't get it to work right.Anyone have any ideas how to do what I'm looking to do?Public Function ValidateActiveDirectoryLogin(ByVal sDomain As String, ByVal sUserName As String, ByVal sPassword As String) As Boolean

I am developing an application that reads an MDI applications child window and grabs the information from a control such as a textbox or listbox. I have tried to use Findwindow in order to accomplish this. I have gotten all the way to the control, but once I get there it returns blank. Can anyone point me in the right direction to accomplish this.I am able to read the window title and get the control title but when I send a message to the window it returns 0. Now I am just experimenting so I have no concrete code, but here is a snippet. [code]
View 1 RepliesIt has to be a simple line of code but I do not know how to construct it. Using VB 2010 Express, I have a MDI parent form and many child forms. I want the parent form to determine what child form is active and load data into the RichTextBox1 on the child form. Each Child form has a RichTextBox1. The parent form gets its data by loading a file.
I am close to a solution but just can't get there. You will see in the code below, if I make a direct reference to a specific child form, it works great. What I want to do is to use the Active Form function to determine which form to write to. I have looked at the MS tutorial which gets me close.

Sub OpenToolStripMenuItem_Click(ByVal sender
As System.Object,

Im working with MDI parent/child objects. when closing the child objects i need the child to check to see if it is the last child object before closing. i couldn't find anything on google, maybe im searching for the wrong thing.

Button_Click Function
Private Sub AddButton_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) _
Handles AddButton.Click

then the LicenseNewForm appears. The problem the I stumble upon is how I get the information from the license form to the main form when they click a button in the license form or close the license form. The information is more then just a simple input, so I can't use a InputBox call because the license form has 3 comboboxes and a textbox to get the input from the user and then I need to send that input to the main form.

My program handles XML files that have certain elements within a root-child node that are identical expect for their inner text value. So while populating my combo box with all of a root-child's child element's names I get like five identical items listed. Which brought about the problem of selecting say the third item and getting the value of the first displayed. So I came up with a loop function that determines if the selected combo box item is preceded by one of the same name, if it is, then it adds +1 to a counter variable and keeps checking farther and farther up the list. Once it loops to an item that doesn't have the same name it exits and it reads the Xth (X = counter mentioned earlier) element's inner text from the file. This works great for elements 1, 3, 4, and 5. But not for 2. A while back when I was focused on this problem I discovered the root of the problem but I was unable to circumvent it. I'll put the loop below so you can see the problem in action instead of trying to follow my verbose explanation:

I'm from denmark and hope I can explain my question for you. This is just a example: I have a panel, let's say panel1 and another panel on that panel (panel2) and so on until for example panel5 - on panel5 I have a button (button1). Now I would like to change button1's backcolor property through code how do I then get access to button1, now it's a child-control on panel5 that is a child control on panel4 etc. ??
