I have a list of parameters going from -20,00 to 20,00 by step 0,25.Sometimes I need the whole list but in some cases I only need the parameters by step 0.50
ex : in the values 1.00 ; 1.25; 1.50 ; 1.75 ; 2.00 ; 2.25; 2.50 ; 2.75 ; 3.00 i only need 1.00 ; 1.50 ; 2.00 ; 2.50 ; 3.00[code]...
Public Sub CreateXml() Dim db As New MDataContext Dim Customers = <gallery columns="3" rows="3">
[code]....
Could i mix local values with the ones returned from the LINQ query...Something like the following?
Public Sub CreateXml(ByVal **Col** As String, ByVal **Row** As String) Dim db As New MDataContext Dim Customers = <gallery columns="& **Col** &" rows="& **Row** &">
My issue is with getting the attribute values. I tried this: For Each xattr As XAttribute In attr cboBrandChoice.Items.Add(test.Value) Next
However, I keep getting the following error: {"Unable to cast object of type '<GetAttributes>d__8' to type 'System.Xml.Linq.XAttribute'."} I'm new to using Linq so this error isn't making a whole lot of sense to me.
I have 2 tables Table1 with columns [BId,Name,Amount] Table2 with columns [CId,BId, ExpenseType,Expense]. BId Is the foreign key in Table2. The Amount field in Table1 is always higher than Expense in Table2. I need to update the values of Amount (increase or decrease) based on value of Expense and I want to do it in single query in LINQ. Eg If the Expense has to be updated with 200, I would decrease(negate) Amount value with 200. If Expense is reduce to 100 then the Amount is increased by a value of 100.
I'm using Entity Framework code first and pulling some data back from our database. In the table I'm accessing is 13 columns that store the number of a items a customer purchased per week for the last 13 weeks as a char field. I have no control over how this data is stored. I need to total the 13 weeks results together to get a combined total, so take week1 + week2 + week3.... = Total Items Purchased over 13 weeks.In SQL I'd just Cast the char to an Integer and add the values together. But I'm struggling finding a solution to do this in linq.
I tried (From c in Table Select New With {.Usage = (Convert.ToInt32(c.week1) +
Supposing the referenced List below contains 2 elements: Dim Countries = From c In List _ Select New With { .Country = c.Country, .CountryID = c.CountryID }
I have the following example datatable:[code]And now the user should be able to compare multiple periods. In this example the user chose two periods: 1.1.2010 - 31.12.2010 and 1.1.2011 - 31.12.2011. The result of the example should be:[code]
From r In ReceiptLines Where r.RECEIPT.RECEIPTDATE >= _reportStartDate And r.RECEIPT.RECEIPTDATE <= _reportEndDate
[Code].....
I am fetching all departments and their sales, average, count from the ReceiptLine, Receipt, ReceiptDiscount tables. The problem i am facing is, if i remove where discount > 0, I am getting null exception. But if I include that, then I only get sales that has discount. How would I write query that bring all sales less discount (if it has one).
If I have a datatble column set as int16 but rows can contain null values for this column. How do i write the linq query. I keep getting an error null value exception. Dim query = From n In resultstable.AsEnumerable Where n.value is dbnull.value does n't work.
I have a datatable which has been dynamically generated from FoxPro tables using a UNION Select statement. e.g.SELECT * FROM x UNION SELECT * FROM y UNION SELECT * FROM Z ORDER By v_alue1This produces a datatable with about 100 rows, each containing many fields, one of which is c_olor. From this datatable, I would like to select the distinct colors and then output in a dropdown.I have a public class Color which just has one property which I can then use as the DataTextField and DataValueField for the dropdownlist
Public Class Color Private _c_olor As String Public Property c_olor() As String
Given the following XML, I would like to return all eventtitles where the eventtype id = 23. My current query only looks at the first eventtype, so returns the wrong result.
I'm having issues with returning a list of strings of the .Value of a Linq query:
Dim details = <Details> <Vector size="5">
Syntactic Structures

Introduction

The Independence of Grammar

[Code]...
Is correct in that it returns the list of XElements I want (items 1 - 4, base 0), but I really just need a list of strings for the .Value of those XElements. Maybe I'm just dense here, but anything I've tried in the chapterTitles query isn't working (appending with .ToList.ToString, etc.). details.<Vector>.
.Skip(1).Take(4).Value just returns the first XElement's value.
I accept both C# and VB.NET suggestion, even though I'm writing an app in VB.NET I have two lists of intergers
List1 {1,2,3,5} List2 {2,4,6,7}
I want to have new List3 {4,6,7} which is composed of elements of List2 that are not in List1. I know I can write a nice For Each loop for this but I want it done in LINQ I've been looking for such methods at Enumerable Methods, but I can't find it.
I am having so trouble with the ToUpper() procedure with strings. I am using LINQ to find unique values in a list of objects. In that whole process I set the values to compare to all lowercase in order to get a proper list. My goal is to populate a dropdown list with the values. I'm attempting to set the first letter of of the string to uppercase and keep the rest lowercase however the toUpper() procedure is not working?
Private Function FixCase(ByVal strIn) As String Dim strOutput As String Dim intStringLength As Integer = strIn.Length - 1 strOutput = strIn.Substring(0, 1)
I am trying the following to select a long date, but becase the value is stored in SQL database as DateTime I am unable to return any results unless minutes and seconds match perfectly...I then tried to use 2 calendars and have the same issue with the DateTime format..
I had actually getting LINQ to work but I am past that now but I was wandering if anyone could help me what I basically have is a DropDownChecklist user control I made and the contents of the list are filled by LINQ getting a list of company names see below:
'Population for company filter box Public Function GetCompNames() Using DC As New DataClassDataContext Dim comp = (From C In DC.Companies _
[code]....
Would you suggest using a public array or something to store the companyID's when populating the first list box? This just came to me at the end of writing this post. Will try this but not sure if its the right thing to do.
The problem is: I have a list of objects, with some containing the same PlanId property value. I want to only grab the first occurrence of those and ignore the next object with that PlanId. The root problem is a View in the database, but it's tied in everywhere and I don't know if changing it will break a ton of stuff nearing a deadline.
So, if I have a list of PlanObjects like such. Plan1.PlanId = 1 Plan2.PlanId = 1 Plan3.PlanId = 2 Plan4.PlanId = 3 Plan5.PlanId = 4 Plan6.PlanId = 4
I want to take a sub-list from that with LINQ (italics mean an item is not included) Plan1.PlanId = 1 Plan2.PlanId = 1 Plan3.PlanId = 2 Plan4.PlanId = 3 Plan5.PlanId = 4 Plan6.PlanId = 4
For my needs, it doesn't matter which one is taken first. The Id is used to update a datsbase record.
I have a stored procedure (I cannot edit) that I am calling via linq.
The stored procedure returns values (more complex but important data below):
Customer Stock Item Date Price Priority Qty -------------------------------------------------------- CUST1 TAP 01-04-2012 £30 30 1 - 30 CUST1 TAP 05-04-2012 £33 30 1 - 30 CUST1 TAP 01-04-2012 £29 20 31 - 99 CUST1 TAP 01-04-2012 £28 10 1 - 30
I am trying to limit this list to rows which have unique Dates and unique quantities in LINQ. I want to remove items with the HIGHER priority leaving rows with unique dates and qty's.
I have tried several group by's using Max and order by's but have not been able to get a result.
Is there any way to do this via linq?
EDIT:
Managed to convert brad-rem's answer into VB.net.
Syntax below if anyone needs it:
returnlist = (From p In returnlist Order By p.Qty Ascending, p.Priority Group By AllGrp = p.Date, p.Qty Into g = Group Select g.First).ToList
I want to group items from a linq query under a header, so that for each header I have a list of objects that match the header title. I assumed the solution would be to use ToDictionary to convert the objects, but this allows only one object per "group" (or dictionary key). I assumed I could create the dictionary of type (String, List Of()), but I can't figure out how to write it. As an example I have written a simplified version below.
countDictionary As Dictionary(of Category, Dictionary(of Date, Integer))
The Class has a Enumeration Property. For the purposes of demonstration, I'll call it MasterCategory.I have been trying to get out an object that looks like the following:
groupedCountDictionary As Dictionary(of MasterCategory, Dictionary(of Date, Integer)
Which results in a IEnumerable (Of Dictionary(of Date, Integer)) for each MasterCategory value.However, I need that IEnumerable of Dictionary flattened to one dictionary with all the integers summed (total counts) for each date. I then tried to use various selects and group bys (from numerous stackoverflow posts) to "flatten" it, but my efforts have fallen short.
Current Code
[Category Class] - MasterCategory As Enum - Name As String etc
I found that when group by multiple values does not work well with VB.NET, but it works well with C# ,here are my code, is there something wrong with my VB.NET Code? Here is my VB.NET code:
I have a listbox on my xaml form that I bound to a List(Of MyType) property. I populated this list like so:
Dim fields As List(Of CheckableFields) = New List(Of CheckableFields) Using context As ITIPEntities = New ITIPEntities() Try[code]....
Now I'm at the point where the user selects the fields they want included in a report and I need to iterate over the required fields. This is my linq query:
For Each checkedField In _requiredFields If checkedField.IsChecked Then If checkedField.FieldData IsNot Nothing AndAlso checkedField.FieldData.Trim IsNot String.Empty Then[code].....
