View 6 RepliesI am working with VB.NET.. i have a DataTable called "QUESTION", containing 3 fields:
QuestionNumber (unique integer key)
QuestionText
QuestionType
In my SQL Server database I created a Table called "QUESTION" with the same fields.
QuestionNumber is defined as integer unique key, auto increment
Now, when i make a bulk copy to insert the DataTable into the SQL Server, the database overwrites my QuestionNumber from the DataTable and generates new ones (starting from 1 increment 1).
How do i have to change my database setup, that the original QuestionNumbers are copied into the database?
Iam trying to link a database to a website. I want the website to allow a user to make a username (OrgID) and password (OrgPassword) and have them apear in my database table (Organizer). This is the code I have so far, but I cannot get it to update the information in the database.
protected void RegisterUser_CreatedUser(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
if (txtUserName.Text != "" && OrgPassword.Text !="")

I have a class that represents the table of a db-row. Its properties are the columns of the table. I add a new row to the table with the following code:
Public Sub AddRow(oTestRow As TestRow)
Dim sql As String
With oTestRow
[Code]....
That is just an example, but my classes have around 30-40 properties and this brings a very large and complex sql string. Creating, editing or maintaining these sql strings for many classes could generate errors. I am wondering if any compact way or method exists in order to add the whole object's istance (the properties of course) to the table "TestTable" without writing such a large sql string. I created the TestRow in the way that its properties are exactly the columns of the table "TestTable" (with the same name). But I did not found in the ADO.NET anything that could be used.
here is the coding for creating a table with book name, author name, isbn , tileetc,........

In VB 2005 if I double click the solution the solution opens with the project underneath it. But in VB 2010 they have made it complicated apparently.

I have an executable that now has a requirement to expose data in XML format via a web service which can be queried by a browser.While I've seen tons about consuming web services and creating web services in web projects, I've not found anything that adequately explains adding such a service (or an equivelant) to an existing Windows app.

View 1 RepliesI'm trying to figure out what would be the easier method for what I'm trying to accomplish. What I have is in, on the main form, a datagridview that is bound to an xls file. I then have another form that the user can import/paste data to another dgv. This content then needs to be appended to the end of the main form's dgv. Would it be easier to add it straight to the dgv and then save it to the excel file or save it to the excel file and reload the dgv? Or does it matter? I'm not exactly sure how to do either method but I figured I would start here.
View 1 RepliesI have a for loop which goes like this -
for i = 0 as integer to 100
result &= "Name" & sqldr("name")
result &= "Lastname" & sqldr("lastname")
result &= "dob" & sqldr("dob")
next
The sqldr is the sql datareader (not important here)
I want my end result to be
Name1 = Sam
Lastname1 = Davis
dob1 = 01/01/1966
Name2 =
...
Name3 =
And so on depending on how manyrecords are in database. How do I make this happen in this for loop?

I am using iTextSharp to add watermarks to existing PDF files & using PDF-XChange Viewer [URL] to view & print the PDF's. The problem is that the watermarks don't display in PDFXC & print out with the spacing all messed up. View 3 RepliesIs there any way to add new properties to a control? For example, I'm using an "OvalShape" from Microsoft's Powerpacks, these are designated as "Cells". I would like to add properties to the class itself (if I had a physical class to edit) for different processes such as "energy level", "family number", "mutation", etc. General variables that are either Boolean, Integers, or etc. If there isn't a way to edit the powerpack class itself, is there a way I can use the ovalshape power pack in my own class and add extra properties to it myself?
View 3 RepliesI need to take rows that I have made from a previous table and somehow reuse them in another table that I am going to make, and I cant figure out how to. Its not necessarily the rows that's tricking me but its what the column name is looking for. Its looking for a string and I don't know how to make it so VB spits out what I want it to.
View 1 RepliesI have a project that as a standalone runs perfectly. There are a number of routines, forms etc. that I want to incorporate into another solution that I have created. Each time I try, it will load in the new project, but if I try to access anything by clicking on it, one of two things happens, either VS crashes and then restarts OR I get 100+ designer errors thrown.
View 8 Replies[Code] my issue is that now i need two cases, first i need a query that will return the date created and modified of the table and i also need to know if its possible to query a list of table names in the database ordered by date created but that have a certain thing in their names. for example the database contains the following tables: [Code] and what i need the query to return is the tables that contain "Data", settings and employees are for the other functions of the program. so the query should return the 4 data tables in order of date created. but i have no idea how to go about doing that in the query, does anyone know how this is done?

I have a table in database which I need to add a new column to. Normally I would load the access database and create the column but in this instance I have to many databases to amend. Is there a way in code to first detect if the column exists and if it doesn't create it in code?
