Windows - Timer - Service To Execute On The Half Hour And Top Of The Hour Marks
May 6, 2009I wrote a VB.NET Windows Service, which works fine. I have only one issue with it. I want the service to execute on the half hour and top of the hour marks (e.g. 9:00, 9:30, 10:00, 10:30, 11:00, etc etc etc). I am using the following code:

This code works, however, if the service starts at, say, 10:15, then it executes at 10:15, 10:45, 11:15, 11:45. How do I make it so it always executes on the 30 minute and top of the hour marks?
Windows Service Won't Execute Vbs In Process
Jan 19, 2012I've been trying off and on for a week now to get this to work but no luck. I have completely stripped down my vb.net 2008 windows service to just create a vbs file and launch it using a process.I'm dying here. The vbs file creates and is valid. I can execute it manually, the windows service just won't run it!! I'm on a windows 7 machine and the process is compiled and installed as a 32 bit process. It is also installed as local system.
After the process tries to execute, I created a text file and it did so successfully. So, I know that the service isn't crashing out.[code]....

Because it's a windows service it's very difficult to debug. Trying to narrow down my error I created a "sendDebugEmail" method that sends me an email if it gets to a certain line. The emails never make it past "dr = cmd.ExecuteReader()"
I'm wondering what I am doing wrong. My SQL statement should work fine. I've tested it in my SQL server database.
I've created a dummy_database that I just made in sql server as well. I added an INSERT sql statement for the dummy table i have in there just to see if i could actually access a database. Dec 6, 2011Right now I have a windows service which only task is to gather data from a database with a specific DSN and then send out an email if the data is valid. The service contains a timer which ticks every 5 minuts and performs the tasks above.Now I need to re-write the windows service to be able to run on more than 1 DSN.I was thinking of making several threads inside the windows service and then again have a seperat timer inside each thread.Is this a good idea and how can this be done? Feb 16, 2012I'm writing a program and have run into a bit of a snag. I have the code perform a button click on certain buttons, the reason for this is I have a bunch of buttons that each do something and one that does everything automatically. I suppose I could rewrite everything under that one button but that would essentially double the size of my program, I could use an if statement to catch the fact that the program is in automatic mode but that would be about 15 conditions (not looking forward to writing that statement ;p)
Clicking the buttons is a nice simple, clean solution. The exception being the program performs the click then continues on executing the rest of the code in the actually clicked button while at the same time executing the code called by the code click. Main problem with this is the data that needs to be populated by the code click isn't being populated fast enough for the code in the main button so then there is errors, blank data, program doing nothing. A simple sw timer to delay could work (I know how to make one of those) but the problem with that is the program is executing against a webpage and if the webpage takes a few seconds longer to load then anticipated everything is out of wack again. I'm looking for a simplish way to cause the program to wait for ALL code called by any raised event to finish before proceeding.
i.e. Call Button.clickEvent > Wait for code and subroutines executed by Button.clickEvent to finish > continue with rest of code in button.
Below is the code I'm using so far for the user clicked button.

For some reason the compiler is telling me that a whole bunch of typical classes (such as Image, Bitmap, Graphics, etc) do not exist. For example, these simple lines of code, which work perfectly in a normal project, return a bunch of errors:

But I can't get them to add up and display the quantity and price. I tried the ByVal and ByRef code but am not sure if I did it right

I am trying to add the net.tcp service reference to the service application. Then I add it to the GAC that goes ok but if I try to RegAsm the WCF service application to allow it to be called from Server.CreateObject I get the error:
