I have a standard scoring algorithm but I need to help on a piece of code to only execute the scoring algorithm at certain times.I want it to be triggered by dates, but the problem arises if the program is used after 2 (or more) dates have passed, the first date will not be added as the second date is the newest and therefore the one that triggers the scoring algorithm. - The scoring algorithm gets the scores for that week, which are stored in a text file.
i want to make the Grid view Button(Time In) invisible until the User press Time Out Button. Once the user press the Time Out Button,Time in Button must be shown
In my program, if something goes wrong an ErrorForm is supposed to show up and tell what was going wrong.
And if the error is a "fatal type", then I want the program just display the ErrorForm (which gives some information about the error), wait for a button press, and then close the program (terminate run).
In case of error, the form is displayed.. That's good.
But as the program is supposed to terminate after showing the error form, the error form disappears immediately after showing up (so it doesn't allow the user any time to read what's going wrong).
How can I make the program wait until a button press (on the error form) and then terminate?
I have this code that tries to kill the wampmanager process when the user press on a buttonBut how can I achieve the same thing if the user clicks on the close button. Is it possible to execute a small line of code just when the user clicks on the close button? If you know any alternatives in
Dim pProcess() As Process = System.Diagnostics.Process.GetProcessesByName("wampmanager") For Each p As Process In pProcess p.Kill()
my situation is this; I have a search button which searches records with Surnames, when two or more records have the same surname, the first record appears and 4 navigational buttons appear, they are 'Go back to first record' (btnFirst), 'go back one' (btnPrevious), 'go forward one' (btnNext) and 'go to the last one (btnLast)'. All of these work properly except for 'go back one' (btnPrevious). When I click this and the record is currently the first one, the program crashes. Its probably a very elementary mistake but I can't figure it out. Here is the code for btnPrevious
I have a button on my form where I'm showing a ContextMenu when the user left clicks on it, I'm actually using MouseUp right now to show it.What I would like to have happen is the user click on the button, the button stays pressed while the ContextMenu shows, it returns to normal when the ContextMenu closes (Either a menu item was selected, the user hits the escape key or they click/tab to somewhere else). Also I'd like to position the ContextMenu in the lower left corner if the menu opens down or the top left corner if it opens up. So the left edge of the ContextMenu is flush with the left edge of the button.Moreso the button staying pressed until the ContextMenu is closed.
Edit: I'm also ok with this being it's own control inheriting the FW's Button that used the assigned ContextMenu as well.
I am creating a program for which will calculate the time taken for a user to make a number keystrokes. I want to start the timer running from the beginning of the first key stroke and end on the final keystroke. Each keystroke has been linked to a label which will change colour according to whether the key has been pressed. When the keystrokes have been finished I want to save this timespan in a field in a database. To test that the timer is running I have made a messagebox which will show the time taken however it is constantly showing zero and the label for the final keystroke is remaining in the keydown colour.
Public Class Form1 Dim dteStart, dteFinish As Date Dim span As TimeSpan
How to make a program wait until a button is clicked by the user. I want to stop my sequence of codes (statements) until a button is clicked by the user.
I'm working with ASP.NET and VB.NET. I have a page which contains 5 user controls. the page itself does nothing, it just presents the user controls to the user.
The user controls work fine when I come on the page, or when I refresh, but when I go to another page, and press 'Back' only two of my user controls shows up, and they don't work like they're supposed to!
Short description of the controls:
2 controls which look if the user has to create something and shows an option to do so. (goes to the DB) 2 controls show an overview if needed (goes to the DB)1 control looks if the user is an admin (does not go to the DB, but looks in the securityContext)
I've got a basic VB.net 2.0 application together in VisualStudio 2005. Within a form, I've tied [enter] in several text boxes to a button. What I'd like to do is "press" the button from getField_KeyDown() to give the user a visual indication of what's happening. With the code below, the button click work is done but the button's look doesn't change and the user is left without feedback.
Private Sub getField_KeyDown(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.KeyEventArgs) Handles txtGetKey.KeyDown If e.KeyCode = Keys.Enter Then e.Handled = True Call btnGet.PerformClick() End If End Sub
How can I make the button looked pressed while the btnGet.PerformClick() work is being done?
I am making a program that calculates various results with variables entered by the user. What I am trying to do is incorporate a function that will allow the user to switch from metric to imperial easily but only when the ok button is pressed. Now I got all the coding done for the metric and everything is working fine. My problem is when I use the radiobuttons to switch the entered variable in the text box to the desired unit it gives me a 0 or a random number in the textbox...
I also have labels indicating each variables unit which I easily managed to change with the text box using this code. : 'Change Labels to Metric lblMDegreeC.Text = "Degree C" lblMDegreeC2.Text = "Degree C" lblMmm.Text = "mm" lblMmm1.Text = "mm" lblMmm2.Text = "mm" lblMm.Text = "m" lblMm2.Text = "m" lblMm3.Text = "m" lblMDegreeC3.Text = "Degree C"
I created all the coding to convert the metric variables to imperial. My problem is changing the textbox text when the user switches the units during run time. The labels change without a problem but the textbox never works. I have attached the coding for the file.
I have a program that allows a user to select a program to run at a certain time for a specific amount of time all choosen by the user. Everything works with the exception of if my program has launched the other program, my program become non-responsive. Meaning I am not able to look at that window again. Not that one really needs too, because when time is up my program closes the program it opened, then closes itself. I just want to be able to see my program when the other program is running. how to do this and perhaps drop me some links, that would be wonderful. This is what I have coded, but like I stated there are no code errors.
Out of curiosity, is there a way i can make a program stop or pause for a period of time (which i would choose) before continuing the code WITHOUT a timer.I think I've seen this done before, but I'm not positive. Also note that I'm talking about a forms application (not a console app if that would be any different.)
My aim is to create a child processes which will execute in parallel the piece of VB.NET code say a function. I want to do it specifically using processes and not threads. Please suggest the ways to do this?
I have a binding navigator in my project and it works just fine.My question is where, if at all, can I find the code that is run when the delete button on the navigator is pressed. My reason for wanting to know this is I want to be able to give the user a second chance when the delete button is pressed.I want to ask the user if they are sure that they want to delete the record by using a msgbox. If the user says yes I will delete if they say no then I do not want the record deleted.I tried putting logic in the BindingNavigator DeleteItem_Click but was not successful.
I'm trying to make a button that, when pressed, activates a function that detects mouse left click this way: whenever I left-click, it sends key 3 and then 1 (keyboard).
Is there a way in VB.NET to make an event when a button is long pressed? Like one thing happens when you only click it and another thing happens when you long click it ..
i have a program called Vip Task Manager. This program lets me set up task which others have to complete. When they are done with a task they have to mark it "completed" and make a report on what they have done and used to perform this task.Vip Task Manager has a button which directs them to an upload form, now when they press the "open" button I would like this to happen: Open a certain report making program I made myself. When they finished writing their report and press save, the program saves this report on a dedicated network HDD (.txt file) and closes itself. Then add the file or link to the upload form in Vip Task Manager. What it all comes down to is that they dont have to minimize Vip task manager, open the report making software, save it, go to vip task manager, press upload, press open, look where this file is saved, select it, and upload it.now, typed in red is whats already been taken care of.The rest, I have no idea where to begin to be honest.First I want to find out how to retrieve that a button is pressed in a existing program. (dont know which code it is written in and it is not open source)
I currently have a working program that creates one colored pixel in a Bitmap, displays the bitmap in a pictureBox, and "jiggles" the pixel by making it move in a random direction by 1 pixel every time a button is clicked. I want to make the pixel move automatically until a Stop button is pressed.
