I was working on something when i saw i didn't have a data base explorer window i was trying to add that in and it disappeared.. i though nothing of and and kept on working after i closed vb and reopened it i got this error and now i cant use vb
View 3 RepliesI have made my application to start automaticly when windows start (registry ../currentversion/run/appname + path). In this mode the application start minimized and an little icon appear in the notification icon area. With this icon you can maximize the app or exit it.If you exit the app and start it again using the Menu (Start/programs etc) than the application start in minimized mode (and in this case I would like to have it in normal mode) because the setting autostart is still true.Is there a way you can detect when the application start when windows startup using the above registry or when people click on an icon in the programs menu (or desktop)?
View 2 RepliesI worked on my project and then compiled it and I am trying to install it and test it on user machines it allows me to install the app but when its time for the app to start up it gives me the "Application cannot start error".There is a line in the details log that says "Unable to install this application because an application with the same identity is already installed. To install this application, either modify the manifest version for this application or uninstall the preexisting application." , The thing is I first uninstall the program before I attempt to install it again on the machine after testing it and fixing some bugs in the software.I've tried restarting the machine , antivirus scanning what more can I do to fix this?

I recently finshed a program and made a finshed copy of it when I tested it on my computer it installed correctly but when I tryed to use it on a nother computer I got a error saying lication download did not succeed.Check your network connection, or contact your administor or network service provider

I am working with visual studio 2008, developing a simple windows form app. in VB. but a very weird situation has presented itself (at least I think its weird).When I try F5 or any other way to start the debugger I get this message:"Error while trying to run project: Unable to start debugging.The debugger cannot connect to the remote computer. This may bebecause the remote computer does not exist or a firewall may be preventing communication to the remote computer. Please see Helpfor assistance."Needless to say, Help is Helpless.The weird thing about it is that this only appears if my computer is not connected to the home network and only in VB. When I try to debug on any other language it works fine, or if I connect to the network then VB debugs fine. I do not think I am using a remote debugger.

This is VBA6.5.1040 using an Excel 2007 (12.0.6524.5003) SP2 MSO (12.0.6529.5000) spreadsheet. The aim is to use a cell in which one can type "Y" or "N" in answer to a question. Before proceeding, the code forces the user to choose one or the other (section B). This works perfectly well. I then added the code in section A so that the user could type "y" or "Y". It would then convert "y" to "Y" and the code would proceed as normal, and similarly for "N". All Information that a customer may need is on this CD, they can Download PDF's and Drawings and even save some Software Apps that may be needed onto the user's Hard Drive, but the CD App running is never installed onto a computer.

Msi file works fine when double clicked, tried System.Process.Start with text files and exe files and they work fine, problem only with msi files. Running vista. Also tried xp but no luck.

View 2 RepliesI have custom asynchronous WebRequest class that I am testing to find out how fast the request will be cancelled and found some odd results, that starting 6 WebRequests with TPL and cancelling them right away takes 25 sec, but when I used just regular background threads it took only 5 sec.
Update: Running them without cancelling takes with Task.Start 9 sec and Thread.Start 3 sec accordingly.

im using vs to create a simple security form, i am successful to create a a form of log but i need some more improve like
1) if the software remain untouch for a minute the login form should be shown as the user try to use it again

I'm using Process.Start to start an external command line application and using the StartInfo.Arguments method to send parameters to the application. I imagine I'll need to use a loop... but I can't figure out exactly how yet.I need to send anywhere from 1 - an infinite number of files names to this application. Each file has to be sent one after the other. So once the first one is done, I need to loop back around and past the second one.I can probably use the Directory.GetFiles method to get all of the files, but I don't know how to assign them.

I have an application (application #1) running with Administrator privileges on Windows 7.
I want application # 1 to start another application (application #2) without Administrator privileges so application #2 is running as a standard user.
Is there a way to do this? I have been using Process.Start.

I've commented out various things to limit it to specifically this command (example, I can swap mklink out with notepad and it works fine). The command runs fine from a DOS window, but can't be found when I use it this way. I also tried using the SHELL command just to test and I get the same results. No idea why it can't be found, as like I said it executes from the command prompt just fine.
