I had no errors in my VB project it was compiling nicely. I loaded SP 1 today and now I have 102 errors. Actually I'm sure more than that as 102 is the max it will show. It particularly doesn't like the date functions and isDBNull. And it balks at vbcrlf now. Here are some examples of the errors I'm getting:

View 5 RepliesI am running into a problem where my CRUD operations on an entity sourced from an SQL View is not calling the generated methods for said operations.I press "Delete" in a ListView on an item, connected to a LinqDataSource. It throws an error saying that it cannot perform the operation because it affects multiple base tables. That's fine, I understand that. What I don't understand is why this code won't run on insert/delete:[code]In debug, it won't break on the method, so it's not being called. I even did a test where I deleted the entity by attaching/DeleteOnSubmit and still no-go. Is this a bug or am I not handling the right method? I can handle a data source's OnDeleting event, cancel, etc. (which is my temporary fix) but I'd really like to catch ALL delete operations in a central place no matter how I delete the entity.

The database is relational, yet I haven't grasped the best architecture to make an application to interact with it. I tough doing a Business layer with a domain model would work. Controllers for each Use case (which are basically CRUD operations) would create Domain Layer object. Yet I don't know yet how to manage the mapping of the objects to/from the database.

i have a Windows service that is hosting a WCF service through net.tcp and this is working great. I have also created a WCF service application. I am trying to add the net.tcp service reference to the service application. Then I add it to the GAC that goes ok but if I try to RegAsm the WCF service application to allow it to be called from Server.CreateObject I get the error:

It does not work. I have tried to call it through a class library but this does not work either as the end point is not set correctly.
I have a .net application that uses customerrors web.config module to display meaningful messages for errors. It works without any issues for 500 errors/exceptions caused by non-ajax and ajax components (updatepanel). However, in a scenario where updatepanel's asynchronous request times out, there is no error raised at all. I was able to see the timeout in firebug and come up with a solution that would at least display the error message as an alert and then redirect the user to the 500 error page using javascript but it's not quite doing what the rest of the application does in case of an unhandled errors like these. I basically just want everything to go through "LogEvent" mechanism so based on the severity of the error, it does the necessary work.This 500 error page doesn't have anything in the Server.GetLastError() for these timeout scenarios. Is this an expected behaviour? Can it be changed so I do have access to these timeouts in Server.GetLastError() OR maybe just run this error through "LogEvent" mechanism? Is there a better/more graceful way to handle this issue?

My guess is that I need to loop thru all the services, find the "Sharepoint Search Service", and and then right the code once I've identified it. I have no idea what object I need to loop thru. I tried using the System.ServiceProcess.ServiceBase object but that doesn't fly.

"Could not find default endpoint element that references contract 'KBBVehicleService.IVehicleInformationService' in the ServiceModel client configuration section. This might be because no configuration file was found for your application, or because no endpoint element matching this contract could be found in the client element."
This is a web service that will connect to Kelley Blue Book. I know I need a new endpoint entry in my Web.Config, but what does this look like? The one I added looks like this:

But it doesn't work. Still throws the same exception at the same place.
Now that I've got this service that runs really great on my 32-bit development machine when I use InstallUtil.exe to install it, I'm ready to take it to the next level and generate something that I can use to install it on my 64-bit production server. I've never done this before, so I'm looking for detailed, step-by-step instructions on how to "publish" this Windows Service that I've written, or make it such that I can take some kind of file (or set of files) and install my service on another machine. I'm looking for a way to do this using Visual Studio 2010. I think the processes are different than in previous versions of Visual Studio.

However, when I run the Setup program, I do not see the my new service in the services window after the set up program completes.
