Good Examples Of Application Talking To MySQL?

I hope someone can help. I was "volunteered" to come up with an application for a local charity group. What they are looking for is a system that will track[code]...
They picked me to help as I have done some computer work and for them that means I'm an expert.What they want is for me to use a Visual Basic front-end talking to MySQL. I know enough to realize that most systems DON'T work out first time and the chances are even less if that person (Me) has not much experience.

What I'm trying to do is use a line graph. What I'm trying to do is graph stock prices. I have the date of each day for the past year in a list of strings called stock_date, and the closing price in another list of strings called close.
How do you get the stock_date to be on the x-axis, and the close price on the y_axis[code]...

Trying find some good examples of support different languages in VB.NET. I've read sites on System.Globalization and resource files but none explain fully how to implement them in my application.

What i have going on, is i have a MySQL connector as a resource on my application, and im basically trying to connect to my MySQL server, to either a) register a new account, or b) check that the account exists and they are premium, and login, Now what i have run into problems with is: My MySQL Database Name has a _ in it which VB is not allowing for some strange reason.
The code i am using is below

How i can allow the _ into the application, because the only databases that don't have a _ in the user or dbname are a) Paid ones which i DO NOT have the money for or self hosted ones, i cannot leave my computer on 24/7

I recently came across a problem for image file storage in network.I have developed a desktop application. It runs in network. It has central database system. Users log in from their own computer in the network and do their job.Till now the database actions are going fine no problem. Users shares data from same database server.

Im having some wierd behavior on a bound form in vb.net 2008. I have setup a client form, with another tab that has contacts for that client. the contacts tab has a binding navigator at the bottom, so the user can move amongst the contacts. all fields on that form are bound to a bindingsource called bsContact, using a table adapter called "ContactTableAdapter"
if i have a contact already saved, and want to modify the contact info, the form binding doesn't seem to recognize that i have changed the value of a textbox on that contact.i would think that if a textbox is bound to a bindingsource, then if the value of that textbox changes, the bindingsource would know about it, but it doesn't. The dataset.HasChanges returns false, and my save wont happen. (see code)so, when i hit the movenext on the bindingnavigator, it changes to record 2...i change a value on a textbox...i hit the save button on my form....no update will happen.
Update: I noticed that if i am on the tab with the multiple contacts, and i change a textbox on the form, then i MOVE TO ANOTHER RECORD, then the dataset recognizes that there was a change, and the update happens. Why doesn't the textbox immediately notify the dataset that a change is happening?

I just made an auto talker but i wanted to know if its possible to make a random time before it start talking. Exemple: Instead of just talking every 2 seconds, make it random between 2 - 8 seconds so he can talk at 2 seconds then the second 7 seconds then 3, 5, 6, 7, 8 etc......

Almost every example of MVVM I found is coded in C#, are there any examples/tutorials coded in VB.Net? I'm having a hard time translating C# to VB.Net since I haven't really used C# in any meaningful way...Also, does a MVVM Template/Toolkit for VB.Net exist yet?

I have been searching but unable to find any code examples of using a GPS coordinate to navigate to another GPS by road way. I'm trying to teach myself how to create multi-threaded applications in Visual Basic Express 2008. I found a page headed "Creating Threads and Passing Data at Start Time" in the Library here -

However, I can't get any of the examples on that page to run. I pasted the code from an example into a new Project in my IDE but pressing F5 just gives me build errors which I have no idea how to resolve. how to fix the exception that occurs when an .EXE file is run from the the Network Share. This application works fine when running from the local machine. I have been trying a lot to fix this issue for a while, but without any success.

I'm a student taking a beginner computer programming course. My teacher told me to use this website if I have any questions. The lesson I have just studied is about the different types of applications in VB.NET. My assignment asks me to "Give at least five examples of each type of application." I'm supposed to do a web search to find these. The different types of applications I'm supposed to find examples for are: Console, Window, Web, Class Library, Control Library, and Smart Device. Then I'm supposed to provide a description or a screen shot of each example.
I hope my question isn't considered too simple for this forum, but I don't know what else to do! I've spent a long time trying to search for examples myself and I can't seem to find anything.

I'm coming from the Winforms world where I trapped everything and handled errors with messages to the user with MessageBox.Show(ex.message) or just logged it.Now I'm in the web (MVC 3) world and I can't seem to find a definitive coded example of how to employ proper error handling. Let me show you what I'm using:
User clicks on a link which runs a controller action:

Then it falls to the catch block, and then routes to the HttpError action.. Twice! and then my Error.aspx view never opens, instead I get either no JSON result or a 500 internal server error... makes not a lick of sense to me. Basically, I don't know what I'm doing.

I have a application developed in VB.Net on Vista that is running on XP. While running the application on Vista the application works perfectly. While running on XP I get the Microsoft has encountered an error dialog box. Any ideas why I am getting this error.Both XP and Vista machines have .NET framework 2.0 installed. The application is also using calling MySQL. I have installed the MySQL connector 5.0.9. If I do not use MySQL everything seems to work on both XP and Vista machines.
I wish I could give you more information but I just don't know what else to post.

im trying to let users login to an application i created in vb.net using the user table of the application's database in mysql i heard that The usual way to do this is to have just one MySQL user called "[my_app_name]" with the relevant permissions. Then my application uses it's own user table to control access to the application, and the one MySQL user to access the database.
