Window based application:I am populating gridview in a child form on load event as well as formatting gridview cell colors.Data is picked-up from parent form grid(Grid to datatable) by setting up global public datatable variable in child form.
Gridview formatting works fine for the first run.All the future runs the gridview formatting function in the child form is executed but the color changes are not reflected on the grid.
This is a database app where I am trying to check for possible duplicates and give the user the option to keep the new record or assign to an existing record.In form1 the user will enter data into a textbox. I use this information to build a bindingsource.filter. Then I call another form (form2.show()) to display results to user and get user response. This part all works correctly.
The problem is that as soon as form2.show() executes, I loose the contents of the textbox - and it appears that I am no longer in the bindingsource.addnew() method.
I have an issue when I place a label box in the MDI Parent form and then open a child form the label box highlighted in child form?

Theres just one major problem i have. Whatever operating system you are using for your current computer (windows 7 in my case) the buttons and tabs and everything else (apart from the windows border... or whatever you all it which i made myself) everything has the modern buttons on it.Hes an in game screen shot :As you can see it looks totally horrible... even the start menu has the windows 7 blue glow effect...I recently found another application (universe Sandbox) and it has the classic buttons even though i am using windows 7.how can i actually make my buttons classic? (without making picture boxes of each button)

I'm trying to do this with a gridview control. I'm not sure that's what I should be using. But what I'm having trouble with, is getting the gridview to only list items with a unique USERID. And then using that unique USERID to list each item individually below.
Is there any kind of "automated" way of pulling this off using standard .net controls without going in and manually piecing it all together from the codebehind?
I have two forms in an application. One is he background and then I show another keypad form called with the show() method (not showDialog) because I need to perform some validations on btn click.
The kepad has 10 buttons and an Enter Button. The problem is that the form keeps loosing focus (I checked this with a messagebox which keeps poping up once for focus=true and again for focus=false, it continuously keeps losing and gaining focus) so it does not process any keypress events untill i click somewhere on the form. I tried using me.focus() in form load event but to no avail. The forms TopMost property is also set to true.

I am developing a small windows application(vb.net).In that i want to have parent child relations in a gridview control. There are lots of examples available on this, but they are using two gridviews for that, but in my case i want the relation to be displayed in a single gridview control itself. When they click the + sign immediate row should populate child rows with it's own header(ie child rows has it's own header which is different from parent header). In my case parent row has 2 columns and child row has 4 columns.
View 2 RepliesI'm creating an application that uses an MDI container to create a sort of desktop style for my form with a group of icons docked to the left hand side. The rest of the form is the desktop area that I want all windows to open in.If I use the standard File-New option that is provided by VB as a default for the MDI container this works fine and a child window is loaded.If I use similar code from one of the icons this also works fine.y problem is that one of my child forms is a search panel and when I double click on one of the results I want a window to open, but as an MDI child. However, this doesnt happen. When I open the window it opens as a completely separate window and isn't docked within the MDI parent. It also appears on the task bar as a separate application.

Scenario I have an MDI form with a UserControl docked at the top. The UserControl is for navigation and is ~50 pixels in height. When I show a child form with its WindowState property already set to 'Maximized', the child form shows maximized in the MDI parent, but behind the UserControl.

You have to manually start NotePad prior to execution (I work on that later) but the code does workŠ My problem is now I want to manipulate the properties of notepad i.e. focus, size, location, etc. but I cannot figure out how to reference notepad and its properties.

I want to add rows inbetween the gridview rows based on the parent and Child Nodes. If i expand the First Parent Node Called "31" then according to the Number of Child Nodes (for first parent node(31) there are 5 child nodes.) add rows in the gridview.

I have a parent page and child page, both aspx. All is working, but now I would like to close child page, if user leaves child popup page and goes back to parent page and clicks on something else like page index of Gridview. I CANNOT close popup child page if user goes to another app, or some other location, I only want to close if something on parent page is changed.

The sample below does what I want it to do and that is once I've filled the maskedtextbox and press enter it goes and does stuff. However, because the maskedtextbox is full I get an annoying 'beep'. So I figured I'd just use the tab key, I changed theChrW(Keys.Return) to ChrW(Keys.Tab) but it doesn't fall through, it just changes focus to the next maskedtextbox that I have. Is there a way to lose the beep? Or how do I get the tab key to fall through?

I have a datagridview. If the user adds a new row, and then clicks away from the grid. How can i stop them from doing this?
I want them to finish the row add first or cancel it. I want to then update the table adapter in the grid's leave event.
If the row validation fails, i want to display a message and re-focus to the cell in question.
The first problem i am running into is that the focus continues to go to the control that the user clicked on to move away from the grid.
How do i cancel that event?
As an example, if the grid is on a tab page and the user clicks on another tab page, i want to prevent that page from displaying if there is an error on the row that is being added to the grid.
I was hopeing for a cancel option in the lost focus event of the grid.

That works fine, but the highlighted line creates a new bitmap, so the exif metadata are not exported to the resized image.
Is there a way to resize a picture without loosing exif data?
Creating a new bitmap with the new size is the only way to resize a picture?

As Autodesk is going to discontinue VBA for their Inventor product in the near future I have been looking at other ways to run VB.NET in Inventor. To date it doesn't look like VSTA will be the replacement. Automation from an External VB.NET app is certainly possible, but leaves something to be desired for speed and integration. Compiled Add Ins are the Cadillac of choice but can be a royal pain to debug and develop. Autodesk now provides a lightweight VB.NET script interface called iLogic. It's main purpose is to allow extreme customization of Solid Modeling parts. The code actually resides inside the Part Model file.

I have a VB. Net App where I want the user to open a modeless form which contains reference information about items in a select box. If the user double clicks the item selected in the list box a modal form is opened to edit the item.I want the previously opened reference form to remain active/enabled, that is, I want the user to be able to click on it, move it, etc.I was able to get the form to at least show up on the task bar by setting it's "ShowInTaskBar" property to true, however, when it comes to the front the user can still not move it to the side to view all of the Edit Forms information.
