and I can see that my values are passed to my variables when I debug the code but the results for my datatable show 0 rows.
I am making a project in VB 2008 that has a Form (form1) that allows me to add new records to a database, and another Form (form2) that allows me to search for records in a database. I have done Form1 already, but my problem arrives in Form2 where I have to query the database. This form consists of 1 textbox (txt_search.text), 1 button (btn_search) and 1 datagridview (datagridview1). The name of my database is db_extras_test2003.mdb and the table I want to search records from is tbl_contacts.
I know +/- the SQL sintax to query the database (SELECT * FROM tablename WHERE columnname = (here i dont know if i put the variable name i have set for the txtbox, or the textbox itself)).I want this in a way that I (or other users) type in the textbox, hit the Search button and the results are shown in the datagridview (i can show the results in another way if it is better to do so).I have done the connection to the database already. I wanted to know how to write a query in data grid control. So far I've seen alot of forums but they are related to either 2008 vb or vb 6. how to write a query in the datagrid control which will search for an id in the database of access and present it.

Recently we have run into an issue with the Math.Round function. We have developed an application in VB.Net 2008. The executable is compiled to use .net framework 2.0. We have deployed the package to our users and at some sites we get a different result in a computation using Math.Round.
View 7 RepliesI'm having some trouble getting the results of the drop-downs in a gridview, and haven't found any helpful articles for VB code.
What I'm trying to do is build a site for tests. So far I have the gridview built w/the extra column for a drop-down list where the true/false answer will be selected. When the test is completed, there is a submit button. All is well except I need to be able to get the results of each drop-down list on post-back to a variable or array (each test contains 10 questions) so the results can be checked/graded. When the results are determined I would like to display a label in it's place and change the text value accordingly (correct or incorrect), so I'll need to be able to enumerate these as well (i.e. label1.text="Correct!", label2.text="Incorrect!", etc...).

I use an sql server in which i have a table called crm_users. What I want to do is to create a textbox where i would type a name or some letters and when I press "enter" a pop up list will apear with the possible users found in the sql table and then select the one that I am looking for. It seems that it is not able to grab the row that is being deleted, so it is always giving me a "Object reference not set to an instance of an object" error.
I have two GridViews, the first works fine as I defined the datasource when I dropped it onto the asp page via visual studio and I specified the table to use.
The other GridView (dgvParams below) has just been dropped onto the asp page and I want to use it at run time[code]...
When I step through the code I can see row and column counts are as expected and call "dgvParams.DataSource = table".
I want to show items in my gridview as a 5 across and a 5 down display - I already have the query pulling only 25 records per a page but cant seem to make the gridview do what I want

Should I format the date in the SQL query OR is there a way to take the result from the query and format sometime before it is writen to the txt file? I'm not exactly sure how to do either. Would I need a subquery to get the desired date format?

I'm trying to execute a SQL query and pull the results into a text file. However, I'm getting an error in the bolded part. I think probably the biggest help would be an explaination of what the code in bold is actually doing. I pulled this from a book but don't think I completely understand. To me it seems like its saying that for each row in table 'extract'. Extract it, and write it?? But it doesn't seem to work that way. I have a query using LINQ-to-SQL. It queries an underlying database table Rooms. It uses Where conditions to narrow down the results, namely:

UPDATE: I've verified that the issue is with the statement where sh.is_available = 1, which doesn't make sense since this is a bit field.
Why would a VB/ASPX page not return results for a query which runs fine with other Oracle clients? (Same username) The following code should first output the query and then execute it outputting a single exclamation point per record. However, it outputs the query (as it should), but does not return any rows (nor error). If I copy the query to SQL Plus (or other editor) as the same user, the query returns results.

I have a basic question about using a database with Visual Basic.I'm using a OleDb connection. I have dragged and dropped editboxes from the DataDource view. This automatically places the table navigation- bar on the form. When I run it this works fine.However I want to be able to search within the table, with an SQL statement.How can I connect the results from the SQL query to the navigation bar,such that the editboxes automatically take the values of the record without having to assign every textbox manually?
