View 2 RepliesI am making a project in VB 2008 that has a Form (form1) that allows me to add new records to a database, and another Form (form2) that allows me to search for records in a database. I have done Form1 already, but my problem arrives in Form2 where I have to query the database. This form consists of 1 textbox (txt_search.text), 1 button (btn_search) and 1 datagridview (datagridview1). The name of my database is db_extras_test2003.mdb and the table I want to search records from is tbl_contacts.
I know +/- the SQL sintax to query the database (SELECT * FROM tablename WHERE columnname = (here i dont know if i put the variable name i have set for the txtbox, or the textbox itself)).I want this in a way that I (or other users) type in the textbox, hit the Search button and the results are shown in the datagridview (i can show the results in another way if it is better to do so).I have done the connection to the database already. View 4 RepliesI have spent the past week trying to get my copy of Visual Studio 2010 Professional to work on my Windows 7 Professional 64-bit laptop, with no avail.
Every time I try to create a new form using Visual Basic, an error message saying that Microsoft Resource File To COFF Object Conversion Utility has stopped working, and I cannot even run the new form to see if my coding is correct.
I have managed to find that it has something to do with the cvtres.exe file, but after a solid hour of research, I have found numerous others with a similar problem, but no solutions.
I have done registry scans, reinstalled Visual Studio about 3 times and have done many other suggested fixes that have done nothing but waste my time.
I am new to Visual Basic. The only programming I have played with thus far is Perl and some Python in script writing for Paint Shop Pro. (if that is acually programming) I found a tutorial on About.com "from the ground up" with a link to download VB 2010 and when I tried to install the vb_web file I got this error:C:usersuserAppDataLocalTempSit24308reboot.ini cannot be opened. I did a computer search and found this file was not in the Temp folder. The install just hung and I could not cancel or retry. I shut down from task manager. When I looked in add emove there was not a Visual Basic listed. I couldn't tell if there were any other files that were added even though VB is not listed. There seems to be more C++ files (which came installed on my laptop) but I'm not sure if there are more of these C++ files.
I have searched for a week and cannot find a tutorial of how to install this program. I see VB 5, VB 6 and VB 2008. I also see a file for Microsoft Web Platform Installer, but it does not say if I need to download and install this file in order to download Visual Basic 2010 Express. I keep going in circles with my searches and always end up back where I started which is at the Visual Basic 2010 Express download page.

I finally figure out where I could get the imagelibrary.I downloaded the 90 trial version of Visual Studio 2005 Professional Edition: [URL] opened the .img file with winRAR, did a search of the img file for *imagelibrary*.I was able to extract the imageLibrary from this without installing the trial version.Not sure where it was supose to extract to so I put it in:C:Program FilesMicrosoft Visual Studio 9.0Common7VS2005ImageLibraryI can find this folder in the form design and so far, it's working with my version of C# Express.

I recently loaded my copy of MS Visual Studio 2008 Standard Edition, with Visual Basic, on to my new laptop, one with a Windows 7 operating system. My intention is to load my data from access database through datagridview but it keeps telling me the same error. This is the exact error message I've gotten.. it threw an oledb Exception stating: Could not open table 'MSysAccounts' in the workgroup information file. I've been browsing and viewing different resources but I still do not find a solution to view my data in datagridview. Few things I've tried:
1. I originally uses Ms Access 2007 to load, but it does not seem to work well, hence i converted it into Ms Access 2003 format. Same error displayed.

When you click on a Help topic in the ListView, the text in the RichTextbox is supposed to change accordingly. The text file is part of the application's resources.

View 2 RepliesI have a Visual Basic 2008 Express Edition application that operates as a front end for iSeries V6r1. The application was developed on a windows 7 machine. Users load the application from a shared folder on a server. Currently, there are 2 Vista, 3 windows 7 and 4 XP users. All had no problem in loading application, all users except 3 of 4 XP users can run the application with no problems. However, 3 of the XP users receive the following error message when they perform any action that tries to connect to the iSeries:
System.ArgumentOutOfRangeException: Index was out of range. Must be non-negative and less than the size of the collection.
All 4 XP users are on same service pack

So I am able to create a mysql connection. I have been watching tutorials and they tell me to go Project -> Add Reference and click on MySQL.data
However this does not show up anywhere. ( I have installed the Driver though :S)

I have VS2005 Team Edition Database Professional installed on my laptop along with VS Team Edition Database Pro, not a problem so far. When I installed the VS2008 we were using SQL Server 2005 as your databases so when asked to the database for database projects I selected my SQL 2005 installation. Now we have moved some of your databases (all new projects) to SQL 2008. When I try and create a Database Schema compare I get an error on Field types (we decided to use Date data type for one field instead of DateTime). I have since installed SQL 2008 Express so that I can create the projects in the 2008 version of SQL Server.

I need a file search for my Visual Basic 2008 program. Do you guys know a way to start off? I've heard that you need admin priveledge for some file searches, but I don't want any of those kind of things since it would be a bug to the user.
