Getting The Horizontal Scrollbar Location?

Dec 2, 2009

I have a horizontal scrollbar on my form, and the form is longer (vertically) than the screen. What I'd like is for the horizontal scrollbar to always be visible at the bottom of the screen, no matter where the user is vertically. Right now, the user has to scroll all the way to the bottom of the form in order to see the horizontal scrollbar.

PictureBox - Vertical And Horizontal Scrollbar

Aug 27, 2004

The scroll bars actually move now, They just move the wrong thing. When I click the Horizontal bar it moves the picture box to the left part of the screen and I can scroll the box back and forth. If I click the Vertical Bar it goes up to the top and I can move it up and down. So if I click both of them, the picture box goes to (0,0) of the form. It wont move the image inside. I can't figure out how to assign the scrollbars to the image instead of the picturebox.

Try making a form with a Picturebox, Vertical Scrollbar and Horizontal Scrollbar in it and rename all your stuff the way I got mine:
Horizontal Scrollbar = hsbPicMap
Vertical Scrollbar = vsbPicMap
Picturebox = picMap

Set the image property in the properties box to whatever you want. Try to make the picturebox of fairly big size. Mine is set to 656, 528 in pixels, and the location is 152, 72 on the form. The image I am using is about 1500, 1200. The bars are on the right side and the bottom of the picturebox.
Code:
Public Class frmMap
Inherits System.Windows.Forms.Form
Private Sub HSBpicMap_Scroll(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.ScrollEventArgs) Handles hsbPicMap.Scroll
picMap.Left = -hsbPicMap.Value
[Code] .....

Table Layout Panel Horizontal Scrollbar?

Sep 19, 2011

I'm using a TLP and it contains controls that exceeds it's height, so it's normal for a vertical scrollbar to be displayed. So far so good, but i can't figure out why a horizontal scrollbar is also being displayed when my controls width do not exceed that of the TLP. Is there some way to remove this horizontal scrollbar?

Use A Vertical And Horizontal Scrollbar And Have The Arrow Keys?

Jan 14, 2010

I'm having a problem assigning the arrow keys to the right scrolling events.I have a VScrollbar and an HScrollbar. I want the left / right arrow keys to scroll the horizontal bar, and the up / down arrow keys to scroll the vertical bar. The default behaviour seems to be that the first created of the two (VScrollBar or HScrollbar, depending on order of creation) received all arrow key events as a Scroll event. So when I push up / down / left / right, it is my VScrollbar that moves (HScrollbar might move also with the left / right arrow keys, I don't remember). I tried catching the KeyDown event on my form, to manage the left / right / up / down keys myself, but apparently the Scroll events are triggered first...In any case, what would be the "right" way to use a vertical and horizontal scrollbar and have the arrow keys do what they're supposed to do in VB. NET?

VS 2005 Horizontal ScrollBar In WinForms DataGridView?

Oct 1, 2009

I'm using a DataGridView in VB.Net in VS 2005. The issue is, when there are rows that exceed the width of the DataGridView, the horizontal scroll bar doesn't appear (the ScrollBars property is set to "Both"), but an ellipsis appears at the end of each row that is too long. I don't want the ellipsis, but the horizontal scroll bar. The vertical scroll bar works as expected when the number of rows exceed the height of the DataGridView.

I have tried setting numerous related properties (changing the AutoSizing property of the DataGridView, Resizability of the Row Template, made sure that no Columns were Frozen) to no avail.

After a bit of testing, there is no way for the scroll bar to attain this maximum value. Instead, I am always ending at Max-2. It always comes up two short. So what is the point of the maximum value if it can't be attained?

C# - Vertical Tab Control With Horizontal Text In WinForms

Sep 21, 2011

I would like to have the tabs on my TabControl displayed on the left, or sometimes right. Unlike the System.Windows.Forms.TabControl, however, I would like the text to remain horizontal instead of being rotated by 90 or 270 degrees to the horizontal. Here are a couple of pictures illustrating the concept. Though I could write code to do this myself in about an hour or two, I just thought I'd ask first if there is any existing Winforms control that implements such feature.

Scrollbar Won't Enable On Custom Control?

May 30, 2010

I moved this from the debugger thread as I got no responses.This may be a better area.I have a problem enabling a Scrollbar on a custom control I have created.The custom control has one component,the scrollbar and an area that I draw upon from an internal datasource.Think something like a textbox.In certain instances,I want the scrollbar to be enabled. The Custom Control's job is to do this when the situtation is appropriate.I have a very simple piece of code here:

If <logic conditions> Then
DataScroll_vscrollbar.Enabled = False
Else[code].....

This code is in my OnPaint routine (along with a bunch of other drawing related stuff).Essentially I've determined that there is more stuff to display than the area of the control and need to turn on the scrollbar to give the user of the control the ability to see later stuff.With the exception of this funny behavior, the control is doing exactly what I want.I step through this and have a watch set.I can step through the set to True, but the Enabled value doesn't change.Even the EnabledChanged event fires (Doesn't on the set to False because it's already False), but the Enabled value is still False.I don't know why.Now here is the really interesting part and may give somebody an idea about what's happening: I can change the Enabled value via the debugger (via the Watch) to True.The EventChanged will fire, and from that point on I can set the Enabled value to either True or False and back again with no problems.

I even did some really crazy testing to see if perhaps the debugger just wasn't showing something.

did something like:

Dim idiot as boolean = false
if <logic> then
idiot = true[code]....

I have set the values to Minimum and Maximum, but the problem remains.

Textbox With Vertical Scrollbar - Get The Scrollbar Position Without Having To Reposition The Carat?

Oct 21, 2010

So with the stock Textbox, I set the Scrollbars property to Vertical. This is great if the text in my box never changes; I can scroll up and down while the box sits still. If I'm running a background operation that logs output to the box though, the scrollbar resets itself to the top every time I append text to the box.

I know I can set the Textbox.Selection property (or use the Select method) to reposition the carat in the textbox, make note of that position in a variable, then append text, reset the carat, and use the ScrollToCarat method to reposition the scrollbar where it belongs. That's a really (ridiculously) long way around. Anybody know if there's another/better way of holding the scrollbar position, short of actually building a custom control (or using a Textbox and a separate Scrollbar)? It never hurts to try. In a worst case scenario, you'll learn from it.

Conflict Between Paint And Horizontal Scroll Event Handlers In Windows Form User Control

If you click on any of the Edit Buttons and move the Horizontal Scroll, the values as they change in the Label_Values are off by one when you release the slider button. I think this is a timing problem between the Paint handler and the Horizontal Scroll event handler at the very bottom of the User Control code. Sorry I didn't eliminate

VS 2008 - Control A Loop Event With A Scrollbar?

Jun 4, 2010

I am trying to use a scrollbar to move forward and back through records in a datatable and to populat an entry in a field to indicate that individual records are selected.In short i want to represent a the sum of a specific field of those records selected. Of course being a scrollbar it has to work in reverse and unselect records when the user moves it backward.

The purpsoe of the scrollbars is that there will be five of them and they will represent years. The records on the other hand represent projects which have an output (say money saving). The idea being projects selected in year one then cant be selected in year two. I am planning to do this by assigning a value that indicates they are already allocated to the previous or other years scroll bar. I can set up a loop to go through the whole data set and do this for a year (and have), but i want to use scrollbars and make it interactive.

Scrollbar On Custom Control (inherited From Windows.form)?

May 16, 2011

I'm trying to create my own control to build a custom planning on it.After trying it with loose controls I got an error but after advice on my previous post, I redraw everything.I have now the header of the control finished, the header shows the days of the month for as many months that fit in the window.Now I want to put the list of data below it, but it will be more than the windows height, so I need to have a scroll bar that will scroll the data but not the header.I would not like to design my own scrollbar and rather use the scrollbar control for it, but when I put it in, I cannot use the NEW keyword.example:

Dim sb
As
ScrollBar

with this I get the error message: 'New' cannot be used on a class that is declared 'MustInherit'.How can I get a scrollbar on my form to scroll the list only (so not the header)?

Different Webbrowser Control - Web Based Apps Which Will Require A Webbrowser Extension

Aug 10, 2010

I am writing a few web based apps which will require a webbrowser extension. I have already used the IE webbrowser control that uses the trident web rendering engine. I believe this is MSHTML.DLL? Anyway, some of the users of my programs have complained of a few things. Particularily,

1. It seems to be a slow browser, at least compared to other rendering engines out there (webkit and gecko are 2 known ones).

2. On the developer side, it seems to be low in features. The features are sufficient in most cases, but there are some "special" things that I need.

3. It has VERY low HTML (and especially HTML5) compliance.

My question is, how much work would it take to use a different engine (such as webkit .net, which I HAVE heard of) and be able to distribute it easily. Or, if you guys feel ambitious, we could try writing a brand new engine ourselves. I know how big of a job it is, and frankly, I have no clue where to begin. I would just like your thoughts and opinions on the matter.
