I have a Windows Forms VB.NET application, with a panel that contains a few other controls.I set the panel's AutoScroll property to True, and that seems to appropiately apply the scroll bars when they are needed. The issue is that a user must scroll all the way to the right to access the verticle scroll bar. Is there a way to always show the verticle scrollbar no matter where the user is scrolled horizontally?

I have two panels, and I want them to both scroll horizontally with one scroll bar, but I only want one of them to scroll vertically. So if I have a large panel on autoscroll, it works fine for that panel, but I have another smaller panel above that, could I make the smaller panel scroll horizontally with the larger panel's horizontal scrollbar?

I'm using a TLP and it contains controls that exceeds it's height, so it's normal for a vertical scrollbar to be displayed. So far so good, but i can't figure out why a horizontal scrollbar is also being displayed when my controls width do not exceed that of the TLP. Is there some way to remove this horizontal scrollbar?

When a panel's AutoScroll is set True then it will add scrollbars for navigation of the entire size of its content. What I want is to be able to set the vertical scrollbar to go to top or zero so its contents top controls will be viewable.

Just a quick one really folks. Has anyone come across any VB.net control that acts similarly to a kind of slide out panel. I'm thinking a form in which there is a little tab at the side which can be grabbed and pulled out to reveal more controls. (Pulling the panel over the current form). I assume that this is something I will have the create myself but I was just wondering whether anyone has come across a control that already does this.

I have trying to do an elevator simulator, wich have to includo the panel with the floor, available floors, and a button panel with available floors and button up, down, but I dont understand is how to use the timers for up and down, because I vague idea to select the floors is to usea a for or select case but I dont know wich one is the most appropiate in this case. Wha tI have so far is:
Private Sub Timer1_Tick(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Timer1.Tick
Timer2.Enabled = False
If lbl1.Text = "4" Then
lbl1.Text = "1"
[CODE]...
This just shows the levels and the timer1 just go up and a little "screen" shows at what floors is the elevator but this just go up and start from one again.

If I have a panel with a handful of controls in it, and I want to create a click event for anytime that the user clicks on any controls that are NOT inside that particular panel, how would I do it? In other words, if there was an event called "ClickSomethingElse", that would be perfect. Any way to accomplish something like this? I realize that I could create individual click events for each of the controls outside of the panel, but there are a LOT of controls outside of the panel, so I was just wondering if there is a more efficient way to do this.

I would like to add an effect where a panel sweeps out of the way to make room for another panel. This is sort of like a sliding effect, and I think at one point in time this could be seen on Apple's website under their product pages. I came up with some code, but it isn't working.

I have a game with a large panel in VBE2008 with a Vertical Scroll Bar Control.
The user uses his mouse to move it up and down, etc.
But how can the game program move this control?
For example, the control bar is slid down to the panel and I want my program to slide back to the top starting position when the user clicks on the Reset Button.

I moved this from the debugger thread as I got no responses.This may be a better area.I have a problem enabling a Scrollbar on a custom control I have created.The custom control has one component,the scrollbar and an area that I draw upon from an internal datasource.Think something like a textbox.In certain instances,I want the scrollbar to be enabled. The Custom Control's job is to do this when the situtation is appropriate.I have a very simple piece of code here:
If <logic conditions> Then
DataScroll_vscrollbar.Enabled = False
Else[code].....
This code is in my OnPaint routine (along with a bunch of other drawing related stuff).Essentially I've determined that there is more stuff to display than the area of the control and need to turn on the scrollbar to give the user of the control the ability to see later stuff.With the exception of this funny behavior, the control is doing exactly what I want.I step through this and have a watch set.I can step through the set to True, but the Enabled value doesn't change.Even the EnabledChanged event fires (Doesn't on the set to False because it's already False), but the Enabled value is still False.I don't know why.Now here is the really interesting part and may give somebody an idea about what's happening: I can change the Enabled value via the debugger (via the Watch) to True.The EventChanged will fire, and from that point on I can set the Enabled value to either True or False and back again with no problems.
I even did some really crazy testing to see if perhaps the debugger just wasn't showing something.
did something like:
Dim idiot as boolean = false
if <logic> then
idiot = true[code]....
I have set the values to Minimum and Maximum, but the problem remains.

So with the stock Textbox, I set the Scrollbars property to Vertical. This is great if the text in my box never changes; I can scroll up and down while the box sits still. If I'm running a background operation that logs output to the box though, the scrollbar resets itself to the top every time I append text to the box.
I know I can set the Textbox.Selection property (or use the Select method) to reposition the carat in the textbox, make note of that position in a variable, then append text, reset the carat, and use the ScrollToCarat method to reposition the scrollbar where it belongs. That's a really (ridiculously) long way around. Anybody know if there's another/better way of holding the scrollbar position, short of actually building a custom control (or using a Textbox and a separate Scrollbar)? It never hurts to try. In a worst case scenario, you'll learn from it.

I'm developing a GUI for a touchscreen, so when user wants to scroll he/she uses their fingers. Now the thing is that the scrollbar width (with the vertical scrollbar) IS adjustable but the button stays the same height and isn't sufficient for a finger. So the question is : Are the buttons in the scrollbar allso adjustable in size/dimensions.

I am trying to use a scrollbar to move forward and back through records in a datatable and to populat an entry in a field to indicate that individual records are selected.In short i want to represent a the sum of a specific field of those records selected. Of course being a scrollbar it has to work in reverse and unselect records when the user moves it backward.
The purpsoe of the scrollbars is that there will be five of them and they will represent years. The records on the other hand represent projects which have an output (say money saving). The idea being projects selected in year one then cant be selected in year two. I am planning to do this by assigning a value that indicates they are already allocated to the previous or other years scroll bar. I can set up a loop to go through the whole data set and do this for a year (and have), but i want to use scrollbars and make it interactive.

I have a treeview control where I am dynamically selecting a node depending on user interaction. when a node is selected I want to be able to have the scrollbar go to the location of that selected node in the tree. The scrollbar is simply made by overflow:auto in the div tag where the treeview is located. Can someone give me some detailed code to accomplish this?

I'm trying to create my own control to build a custom planning on it.After trying it with loose controls I got an error but after advice on my previous post, I redraw everything.I have now the header of the control finished, the header shows the days of the month for as many months that fit in the window.Now I want to put the list of data below it, but it will be more than the windows height, so I need to have a scroll bar that will scroll the data but not the header.I would not like to design my own scrollbar and rather use the scrollbar control for it, but when I put it in, I cannot use the NEW keyword.example:
Dim sb
As
ScrollBar
with this I get the error message: 'New' cannot be used on a class that is declared 'MustInherit'.How can I get a scrollbar on my form to scroll the list only (so not the header)?

I'm making my own winforms button, mainly to be able to control more aspects of a regular button. So far, I've figured out how to control the looks of the button properly, but now I need to implement the changes I've made. I can draw what I have so far, but it flickers even with double buffering...
Inherits System.Windows.Forms.Button
Protected Overrides Sub OnPaint(ByVal pevent As System.Windows.Forms.PaintEventArgs)
MyBase.OnPaint(pevent)
[code]....
So far I just want to get my gloss working.I'd also like to know how to control some of the more tedious properties of a button, such as corner radius and how I can make the flatstyle of the button "Flat" all the time without the option to change it (this is so that I don't have to worry about borders and stuff).

I'm trying to make a label control transparent over a Panel control.However by setting the background colour of the label to Transparent, it actually sees right through to the form itself, not the panel as intended.
As an example we use a panel with a background as white, we make the label transparent, however it gets the forms colour as blue.However, we are using a custom panel control and need the label to be transparent over the panel and not see the forms background.

I've got a Panel on a main Form containing a PictureBox control on Top of a TableLayout control. Both the child controls have their docking properties set to Top. The Picture control has sizemode set to Zoom.
What I'm finding is that the picture doesn't size properly when I start the app. There is a border at the top and bottom in the PictureBox control. It's only when I resize the overall form that it's correct.
So at the moment I've got this ugly bit of startup code, just to fix the problem Me.WindowState = FormWindowState.Normal Me.WindowState = FormWindowState.Maximized
What am I missing?
