Combo Box With Hidden Values?

Nov 10, 2010

I have a combo box that is tied to a binding source that loads a list of users from a table. Currently the list of users is a List of String object type. When a user selects one of the users from the drop down, a list is filtered down based on the selection. To do that I currently have to requery the User Table to grab the UserID column of the user selected, which seems a bit inefficient to me.

Is there a way that I can assign a custom object with two properties (UserName, UserID) and have only the User Name is displayed and when I have to filter the list, I already have the UserID, so there is no need to requery the database.

Don't Display Blank Values In Combo Box

Aug 20, 2009

I've used VB to connect to Excel and get the titles of the different columns in a spreadsheet. These then display in a drop down combo box for the user to choose from. I'm getting lots of empty values in my combo box because not all the columns in Excel have titles. How would I go about telling it not to display them?

Excuse the easy question but I've only started learning to code a week ago.

.net - Load Up Combo Box Values Once (at Login Screen)?

Mar 10, 2011

I have a few combo boxes that need to be loaded up once and displayed multiple times (whenever the main form is opened) The reason for this is because it's taking about 10 seconds for the form to load each time it's opened due to unnecessary re-querying.

Here is an example of what I have as a combo box source and what I've done.

I've put the query, connection, etc... in a module and call it on the login form - i don't get any errors but the data does not load into the combos.

'In Module

Comobox Combinatorics - Selected Value Is ALL In The Combo X, I Cannot Get The Values?

Mar 2, 2011

i have a form with 3 combo boxes. The value of the combo boxes generates a sql query with 3 parameters. The sql generates a RDLC report.

For example:

Combox1 with values(v1,v2,v3,ALL)

Combox2 with values(v1,v2,ALL)

Combox3 with values(v1,v2,v3,4,ALL)

Me.ExampleTableAdapter.QueryWithParams(Me.ExampleDataSet.Table, Combobox1.SelectedIndex, Combobox2.SelectedIndex,Combobox1.SelectedIndex)

QueryWithParams:SELECT * FROM Table WHERE Column1=@c1 AND Column2=@c2 AND Column3=@c3 Ok the problem is when the selected value is ALL in the combo X, i cannot get the values because i must change the query and kick out the parameter. For example:If the combo1,combo2,combo3 have the values ALL. I don't need parameters.SELECT * FROM Table IF the combo1 is ALL.SELECT * FROM Table WHERE Column2=@c2 AND Column3=@c3 If combo1 and combo3 are ALL SELECT* FROM Table WHERE Column2=@c2 Then in code I look which is the selected value of the combo and upon it i do the query. Is there a way that i do this thing without generating all 8 types of queries?PS. I cannot use stored procedures because i'm using SQL Server Compact

Selecting Two Values From Combo Box To Return A Price?

Feb 8, 2011

As some of you probably already know I'm currently creating a ticket ordering system. I'm having some slight trouble getting one of the key elements of the application to work mainly because I'm not sure where to start with it.

I currently have a form with two combo boxes (one for the origin of the journey and one for the destination). The idea is that the customer tells the employee over the phone where their journey begins and ends. They will also select a date of travel - but the date of travel doesn't really matter to much at this time.

Once a to and from is selecting from each combo box, the price will be shown in a label on the same form.

I have the to, from and prices information in an Access database table and my database is already linked to my application using a data connection.

trying to get to price to display when the two values in the combo box are selected?

Add Extra Values To A WinForms Combo Box Based On A Hashtable?

Aug 6, 2009

I'm trying to add some extra key/value pairs to a combo box using VB.NET. The initial item list is generated from a hashtable, which contains a collection of objects.I've managed to add the extra values to the box using the Add method, however I now run into problems when reading back the selected item from the combo box because some list items are objects, while others are strings.

My best option seems to be to load the initial data as key/value pairs by looping through the hashtable, however this doesn't seem to be working too well either because I'm still getting errors.I'm getting frustrated because it's taking me hours to do something that should take 5 minutes!

Possible To Have Separate Combo Boxes That Will Give Separate ID Values But Using Same Table?

Apr 30, 2010

I'll get straight to my problem - I'm currently coding in Visual Studio.I have a table (countries) with the columns ID | Name. The table is filled with around 28 records.I also have a form with 4 combo boxes (set up as 1,2,3 & 4) that I want the user to select. These combo boxes will display the names from the table countries. I then want to use the selected names in the combo boxes to Insert into their corresponding ID into another table. For example England would have the ID 1, USA the ID 2 etc.So, is it possible to have separate combo boxes that will give separate ID values but using the same table? At the moment I can't seem to find a solution.Eventually the form will have more than 4 combo boxes so I don't want to use separate bindingsources for each combo box.

Selecting Values Of Combo Boxes And List Boxes In Web Browser?

May 22, 2012

I am developing a program that makes it easier for users to log on to a website and search for specific data. I have the first portion finished in which I have a form with the Ax Web Browser control.

The web browser control navigates to a local website and automatically logs in for the end user. This is done by using code which automatically fills in the username and password and then submits the form to logon using something similar to this: WebBrowser1.Document.Forms.Item(, 0).elements("txtUsername").value = "user"

Once logged on - there is a search page which contains a combo box and list box. I am trying to set specific values for the combo box and list boxes. For example - the combo box on the website is titled: cbxDate and contains the following values: Today, Yesterday, This Week, This Month.

A list box titled: lstArea contains the following values: Zone A, Zone B, Zone C, All.I am trying to figure out if there is a way through code to select, in this example, "Yesterday" in the cbxDate and "Zone B" in the lstArea on the webpage. If anyone knows of a solution, please feel free to let me know. Be advised that I am using the Ax Web Browser Control.
