Fill A Combo Box/DropDownList?
Jul 9, 2009I am trying to fill a combo box from SQL Server 2008. Getting the Combo Box to populate isn't the problem. What I need to do is have the text field read the field value that goes with a specific id that I search by, while keeping all other fields available to chose from to change the value for that specific id and save back to the database. I know this isn't clear here is the best example I can think of:
COMBOBOX --FieldValue------->
--DropDownField1--> Ten
--DropDownField2--> Twenty

I seriously might have to infest in some Rogaine if I have to spend another ten minutes on this. I do know that I am missing an id to compare to but when I add the id into the sql statement the combo box only fills with the one value that it equals to without the option to chose from the several others to change.

May 9, 2011I ahve a combox (cbnames) on a login form which is populated with items. I make a selection and click on ok. Form1 appears and I have a textbox which I want to fill with the selected item from the combo box.
However, on form1 (view code) I don't appear to see cbnames. cbnames is available on the login form. How do i make a combobox public? or accessible to other forms?

I need to fill the left ListBox with items not now asssociated with the ComboBox selection and the ListBox on the right with items already associated with the ComboBox selection. Is it possible to populate the ComboBox and each ListBox using only one query and returning a dataset of ALL the data to do so, or do I need to Populate the ComboBox, then use 2 queries, one for each ListBox?

Table Adapter FIll Causing Error With Combo Box (Query)?
Jun 2, 2009I have the following query that executes when my form loads. It's the rowsource for my combo box. The query is fine and populates the combo perfect, however, when i click into the combo box I cannot click out of it or even close the form. I have tried taking out the line of code that fills the form via table adapter on load and it works fine (opening the form unbound by the main table). Has anyone run into this before? I have another combo box on the form setup the exact same way and this is not happening. I've experimented with different datatypes etc....

Jul 22, 2010I have combo boxes for user choices on the form. One combo box for name, one for phone number and one for email. I first created that to allow user to make select in each combo box. As more "user friendly" interface, I I would like to associate the selection made on cmbBxReqstrName with corresponding phone number and email and cause the phone number and email combo box to "auto fill" in their respective combo boxes based on the selection in the cmbBxReqstrName. It was suggested to me that a two dimesional array might be an option. I read up on arrays but don't quite comprehend the coding part to access the data in the array and fill that to the combo box or I guess use the index from array to index the combo box list.

Nov 10, 2010I have a combo box that is tied to a binding source that loads a list of users from a table. Currently the list of users is a List of String object type. When a user selects one of the users from the drop down, a list is filtered down based on the selection. To do that I currently have to requery the User Table to grab the UserID column of the user selected, which seems a bit inefficient to me.
Is there a way that I can assign a custom object with two properties (UserName, UserID) and have only the User Name is displayed and when I have to filter the list, I already have the UserID, so there is no need to requery the database.

Aug 10, 2009I am working with Vb.net and have a form with a combo Box. On load the form is loaded with one of the following details depending on what is stored in the database; Cancelled, Processed and Failed.

Then I have an update button and when the user drops down the list he/she can select between Cancelled/Processed/Failed. I want to be able to grey out or disable Processed and Failed, so that when the user updates the field he/she can ONLY update with the Cancelled option ONLY.
