Jun 1, 2010I know that you can pass a Point array to the DrawImage method of the Graphics object to apply rotation, skewing and flipping, but I'm having trouble figuring out how to calculate the rotation. So far I've got:

This is all just off the top of my head so far, I'm not sure if it's right. How do I calculate the other points on the rectangle, and is there a built-in VB.NET method that's much easier? (Apart from Graphics.RotateTransform, which is slow and also rotates around 0,0.)
Create Graphics On An Image In A Picture Box?
May 25, 2009I am creating an application where when I click on an image I need to mark the place using the x and y co-ordinates given by the click and then after marking I put a red dot/circle on that spot and then I need to save this image to a file including the dot/circle I marked. I have tried saving the image to the file but to no avail, I have been able to only save the PictureBox image and that doesn't include the graphics. It is only the base image. I have tried to save it as a bitmap but have not gotten anywhere with that either. It seems whenever I call the image.save it takes only the value of the underlying image and saves it.

Create Persistent Graphics On Top Of An Image?
Mar 1, 2011I am building a program which offers solutions to the travelling salesman problem (finding shortest tour between a set of cities while visiting each only once).
My program loads a bitmap image of a map into a picture box. From there, graphics which point out the cities as well as tour paths are drawn onto the map. My problem is that when the option to plot ALL cities is enacted, the user may choose to pinpoint a specific city with a separate control. When the user erases that pinpoint via an invalidation routine, though, it erases all graphics beneath it, which is undesirable. How can I make my tour graphics and city plots semi-permanent by drawing them directly on the image? I tried drawing them on a separate bitmap, but it 'covered up' the map image.

It would be christmas if you had the code in vb...but I will be satisfied with just the logic. My thought is to eventually make this into a jsonp web service so I can use jstree to build a tree, but for now im just trying to understand the logic necessary to parse this correctly.

Apr 8, 2012I'm working in VS2010 on a visual basic application. It takes in serial port data, writes it to an access database, and then graphs the data.The data only comes in once every minute, so it's not like I'm building an oscilloscope. Right now, the chart is reading from the database using a table adapter and graphing just fine, so long as I keep the number of records in the database low.If I add too many records to the database, the chart shows a red "X" through it. I've played with changing the axes, but it is still a problem.I don't really need to graph the whole database.The twenty most recent records would suffice.How can I make a chart series with only a small subset of the database in it.Perhaps it cold be populated with a query?

The picture below to the left comes from PictureBox with a text string drawn with Graphics.DrawString. The font style used is Arial 48 points, regular, I think. The picture in PictureBox shows just as I configure. Great... The resolution of the original Terri Hatcher picture is 300 dpi (300 x 300). Exporting this picture with Graphics.DrawString, I get the picture below to the right. The text string appears a lot bigger than previously shown in PictureBox. It turns out that the text size varies, depending on the resolution of the original picture. That's kind of odd. I develop several graphics applications in a different environment and have never seen this sort of graphics.drawstring thing. Anyway,

Determine Whether Graphics Object Is For A Printer?
May 11, 2009We would like to know whether there is any way to interrogate a Graphics object and determine whether it is to be used to print or to render to some other canvas. We're aware of an API call that can be used but would prefer to avoid that route if possible. There's also the possibility of simply passing a flag in with the Graphics object that is True from a PrintPage event handler and False from elsewhere, but that's not ideal either. We're looking for a managed property or method accessible via the Graphics class itself, but nothing's jumping out.
