I tried to view an excel file from datagridview in vb.net. Here is my code :
Dim con As New OleDbConnection("Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;" _
& "Data Source='c: es.xls';" _
& "Extended Properties=""Excel 8.0;HDR=YES"";")
Dim da As New OleDbDataAdapter("Select * from [sheet1$]", con)
ds = New DataSet
da.Fill(ds)
gridinput.DataSource = ds.Tables(0)
The problem is almost all cells value from excel are displayed in my datagridview, but several are missing.
I'm trying to figure out some Excel automation. I have a form set up so the user can click on a label to open an Excel file (as a background process I guess) so the file isn't actually visible. Once they click on the "Convert to Count" button it will multiply all the values in Column B by 1,250 and put the output in Column C. Once it has finished this action, it makes the file visible so the user can choose to save it or not. Also, some users have Excel 2003 and some have 2007. Would it be possible to be able to load both xls and xlsx?[URL]..I must say I am very new with .NET and have a little bit of knowledge with VB6. I'm not sure where to even begin. I've looked up some ways to load an excel file but couldn't get it to work the way I need it to. Most of the ways I found were loading the file into a DataGridView. I don't want to use a DataGridView if I don't have to. Some of the files the users might be loading could have 10,000+ rows and that would take too long I think.
So I'm working on this project. I got around 60 images or so which I need to OCR, then I'll be inputting that data into my program which formats it and inputs it within this DataGridView. Now, I need the same data to be exported into an excel file. I saw several tutorials online but none of them are current (for VB 2008 or 2010). Either that, or they're not for VB.NET Windows Form Application. [I'm using VS 2010]
I'm fairly new to Datagridview as well. Just learnt how to add data to datagridview using this tutorial: http:vb.net-inform...ridview_add.htm I was hoping you could help me out with where to start once I get my data all set up in the datagridview?
Can anyone help me on how when I click on a button in VB, it will browse an excel file that will display its information in a datagridview..Then when I click on update after it will save the result in the datagridview in an access database.
I have done a google and see that many people have asked the question on how to export a Datagridview to a Excel (.xls) file. For some reason I cannot seem to get it to work (i have gotton the program to open an Excel and save it, all hidden in the background). I use a bit of the coding from this source code [URL] but modified it and incorporated it into my program. It connects an OLE Database connection with the excel sheet... but what i want to do is beable to alter the sheet in the datagridview and export it back to an excel sheet. I am not trying to sound pushy when i say this but... if you download the source file i am using you will get a really good idea of my situation..
I have a a DGV with the following fields: FirstName LastName Address Job StaffNum Nationality DOB Notes Picture FileName
Now my DGV has records in it and I try to export it to Excel File. Now it exports the the Column Names above but none of the records. My code is below. Dim fs As New IO.StreamWriter("C:exported.xls", False) fs.WriteLine("<?xml version=""1.0""?>") fs.WriteLine("<?mso-application progid=""Excel.Sheet""?>") fs.WriteLine("<ss:Workbook xmlns:ss=""urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:spreadsheet"">") fs.WriteLine("<ss:Styles>") [Code] .....
I got this code from the MSDN forums from a link someone posted. They said they changed IntCol and it worked to incoude the records as well but I cant figure it out. When I hit Export it does prom,pt me to save the file and saves the Names above to excel sheet but none of the records.
Can you import an excel file to a datagridview but with all the formatting of the excel file including different coloured cells, bolded text in certain cells etc.
The remarked area works fine when I'm accessing a specific table. I've successfully inserted the products_model field into the combobox too. The datagridview does show the table names in the db using the SHOW TABLES sql statment, but I'm not understanding how to get this info into the combobox instead.
I'm trying to figure out what would be the easier method for what I'm trying to accomplish. What I have is in, on the main form, a datagridview that is bound to an xls file. I then have another form that the user can import/paste data to another dgv. This content then needs to be appended to the end of the main form's dgv. Would it be easier to add it straight to the dgv and then save it to the excel file or save it to the excel file and reload the dgv? Or does it matter? I'm not exactly sure how to do either method but I figured I would start here.
i have a form with DataGridView to show table from database. is it possible for me to add a button then when click, the data from the DataGridView will export to a new excel file?? if possible, can teach me how to do it?
am having problem in saving datagridview data to excel file.. i have import excel namespace into my project but it shows
error : Namespace or type specified in the Imports 'class2' doesn't contain any public member or cannot be found. Make sure the namespace or the type is defined and contains at least one public member. Make sure the imported element name doesn't use any aliases.
Imports Excel = Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel Dim xlApp As Excel.Application Dim xlWorkBook As Excel.Workbook

I'm trying to export a datagridview to Excel and open the Excel spreadsheet (not SAVE the worksheet).
Public Sub ExcelRpt(ByVal DgvName As GridView, ByVal url As String) Dim xlApp As Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel.Application Dim xlWorkBook As Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel.Workbook Dim xlWorkSheet As Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel.Worksheet
I am using asp.net oledb to export information to excel file. I encounter problems when the information to export becomes too big, in this case the code I have given below, the excel file generated becomes an empty spreadsheet. If I changed the loop to 1123 for insertion of the rows. The generated excel file is fine, 1125 rows, and 4 columns shown.A test program in windows form is also working fine regardless of how many rows.[code]I couldn't find a solution to my problem as well. What I did eventually was to run the process using another separate windows service. The code works perfectly fine running from a windows form or service program, but not asp.net, not sure why.
I have this issue that occurs with me and driving me crazy i have a report that contains thousands of records and i need to export it to excel , but the excel normal extension .xls
is showing missing records at the end of the file , so i save my file as an .xlsx extension it saves correctly but when i open the file it generates an error
"Excel cannot open the file '<var>filename</var>.xlsx' because the file format for the file extension is not valid. Verify that the file has not been corrupted and that the file extension matches the format of the file."but when i test the file i drag it and open it in an empty notepad all the records shows up correctly
I was wondering if anyone already done this. And off course How?I'm working on a project to get several departments incoorperating the same budgetting systematic. Yeah hell is pretty near so far.
What I need is a way to create a preview in excell for the template they are defining in an application. As the end user will enter the data in an Excel sheet... YES this IS mandatory in this phase.
So I want the department manager to drag items into a treeview defining a template and generate a excel workbook and show a sheet with the result of his definitions.
Question? how can I show an Excel sheet within a vb.net application?
I have a sql table with a binary field where any kind of document can be stored. I'd like to show them using webbrowser (or PrintPreviewControl if possible). The only way I found was to save the stream as a file and then navigate with the webbrowser, but when I navigate to an Excel file and then I navigate to any other file, my system reboots (I tested in other workstations -W2000 and XP). I'd like to load the webbrowser with the stream without having to save it as a file. Or show the stream on a PrintPreviewControl or similar?

I can show an excel workbook using a WebBrowser component but that only works if excel is installed on the target computer.Any other ways to display an excel sheet ? Just a viewer. No need to edit, scroll or tab between sheets. There's a lots of OCX components out there that do this but anyone know of a .net component ?Or any way to achieve it without needing Excel to be installed.

I'm trying to upgrade a VB6 app to VB 2008. I have read the article in the tutors corner about automating Excel from VB but I cannot get it to work. Heres what I have done:
1) set a reference to the Microsoft Excel 12.0 Object Library
2) Added "Imports Excel = Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel" to the top of the module
3) in a routine I have added: Dim X As New Excel.Application Here's where I get an error: Error 75 'Application' is ambiguous in the namespace 'Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel'.
