I want to have single setup.exe as output which should install either 1 one of these 12 projects based on the user selection.Whenever user tries to install these by clicking setup.exe, he must be provided the option of selecting the project and then installation should proceed installing the corresponding exe.

1, After I put company's logo at startup installation, there was still text shown up "Welcome xxxx setup.." together with the logo, how to remove it and display company's logo only? Also, if using text display and the text is too long, how to return to next line?
2, If I setup more than once, I was told to remove the first one using Add/Remove program in Control Panel before setting up new program. How can I use a dialog like "Overwrite the existing program"?
C# - Setup Project Does Not Create File System Folders During Installation
Aug 31, 2010I want to create personal folders during installation. I did the following steps:
Right click on your setup project ->
View -> File System
Right click on node "File system on

I know the above steps are correct and should work because i did it in the other application (solution) and worked fine. When i did same exact steps (of course i changed the folder name to be created), the application gets deployed but when i install, i don't get the Personal Folder under Documents? I wonder why did it work with my first solution and didn't work with the current one!

Feb 3, 2011I've created a setup project for a VB.NET 2010 application that I've written. The application, and the installer both work fine on my development machine.The installer works fine on other machines, but when I run my application it immediately crashes and dies without telling me anything useful. I've tried it on Windows 7, Windows XP, and Windows Vista machines... and all had the same problem, so I think it's more of a package configuration issue than a machine-specific problem.Here's the most useful information that I was able to get out of it:

Aug 11, 2011I have a vb.net application . I have added references of Ms Excel into the application.In my machine both vs and ms office are installed
Now I move my code to another machine where only vs was installed and not ms office . When I run the code from vs it works perfactly.
Now I make installer. I install it on my machine and it works
I also install it on another machine where ms office not installed and it does not work .
my question is why it is working when I am running from code and not when I am running from Installed shortcut ?
and should I need to install ms office also on the machine to run the application from Installation. ?

However, I would like to install this on the network and begin doing some addiitonal testing and debugging.
I'm unsure about the proper way to install the database and sql server express on the network. My program, which sends the info to the database, will be installed locally on each persons computer. Of course, the database file will be in a location on the network that everyone has access to.I'm assuming I should install the SQL Server Express on the network server as well. I know this is accomplished through the 'Installation Folder Selection' dialog, but I want the user to be able to select a drive only, not the entire path.
My question is how do I capture what drive the user selected from the 'Installation Folder Selection' dialog and use that drive letter to tack on to my 'DefaultLocation' variable?

Sep 24, 2011I've just created a setup file for my application . Instead of using the click once process , I used the Create Install Free 4.14.5 program , in order to be able to specify some parameters that under click once I couldn't (like specifying installation folder etc) . The problem , however , is that now when I installed the application , an error message appears saying that the computer is missing the Visual Basic Power Packs 9.0 (which I indeed used in my application) . So , is there any way I can add it to my setup file ? That is in order to avoid making people manually downloading and installing it .

I have an application called WindowsPRO available from my filesharewebsit This application is intended for those in school to easily be able to do several daily tasks such as calculate and use notepad within one window. I have been working on this application in part with the help of MSDN.Back OT, currently when I click the "Check for updates" I use process.start to open my website. Not very complicated is it. What I want to do is open a form in whichchecks for the update from my site. Whenever I upload a file, I'll upload it as a .zip onto my site and always name it like: "Application name v1.0" or whatever the version number is. That is the only thing that changes.
When the user presses the check for updates, I want to checkhe site in background for a "higher" version number. If my application is v1.2, I want it to check for anything higher than 1.2. So if I have on the site 1.2.2, or 1.3, I want it to check for the highest number version and download it.My question simply is, how do I check for a "higher version" from a website?

I would prefer that when the program loads, it searches for updates either from the web or I was toying with the idea of creating a file host server. I want the program to search for updates without opening a web browser, however (giving anyone power to email out a free download link). I think of the way Digsby opens, checking for updates, or gimp. This is what I want.

Jun 17, 2010I have created a backup script which my organization uses to back up a specific set of data weekly, to a server, by clicking and running the app.I am always updating it/ improving it and instead of redistributing to the select employees there has to be a way to code in a "check for updates" type of thing.
I was wondering how to make my created app check with that server to see if i am running the latest version.
How do i incorporate a "version" in my app, or would it just be a naming convention thing? and how do i check for updates? Would a button being selected to check updates be preferable? or is there a way to auto detect it?

Feb 27, 2009I've finally got a project compiled and tested and ready to roll out.I have discovered that the "Publish" option is not what it seems, and that we must create a separate "Setup Project" to carry out the task of installing the files.This is not the most intuitive process I've seen, and the online help on that subject is not easy to understand.I was hoping that someone could direct me to a tutorial or guide that would step me through the specific approach I need. Many of the other guides online are vague and address multiple scenarios and do not separate the approaches very well.I have the contents of my project in /bin/release. It runs nicely by iteself with no errors.Here's what I need:
1. To create a setup exe that I can distribute that will install my software, with all of the supporting (resource) files and folders.
2. I need the setup process to force the installer to "agree" to a EULA.
3. I'd would like to provide an image on the installation screen/popup.
4. I would like the software registered in the registry and rely on it being there in the registry.
5. I need it to default to program filesprojectname (it does by default)
Serialization Save / Load And Project Updates
Oct 22, 2009I have just learned about serialization, and looks very appealing as a way to save application data without much maintenance overhead.But I have one issue that I would like answered before I start coding.If a user saves a project via serialization, and then the program gets an update, say one that might have added or removed a property for an object.If the user then tries to load his previous project with the updated program, since the object now has a modified structure won't it fail to load from the previously serialized data?Would there be any way to recover/convert that saved data to the current object structure?
