Adding A Delimiter - Combine Multiple Files Into One Single File

Jan 24, 2012

I've made a rudimentary program that combines multiple files into one single file. Currently if I combine two .csv files together the output comes out correctly for what I need, which is a coma delimited file. When I try to combine two .csv files into a .xls file it doesn't format correctly (I get all the data separated by commas, but thrown into one column in the .xls file). For this reason I believe I need to add a delimiter.I'll post my code below.

Develop An App That Will Export A Large Amount Of Zip Files All Of Which Have The Same Single File In Them?

Nov 21, 2009

I am trying to develop an app that will export a large amount of zip files all of which have the same single file in them - simply named 'dw' (with no extension). They will all be in the same directory. I want the file 'dw' to be renamed to the zip file name + .tif. (I will actually eventually need for this to use the magic number to determine if the file is a .tif or a .rtf.) I have been able to get it to cycle through, if the file is NOT renamed. I seem to run into issues when I want the file renamed. It just creates the first .tif file and thats it. I think its actually just cycling through but everything is getting that same name. For the record i am not a programmer by trade, just trying to help with something at work - thus I know the code I have peiced together probably isn't 'by the book'

Dim p As New ProcessStartInfo(ByVal unzipit As String, ByVal zipdir As String, ByVal arg As String, ByVal arg2 As String)
Dim di As System.IO.DirectoryInfo
di = New System.IO.DirectoryInfo(zipdir)
For Each diar In di.GetFiles()

I've figured out how to make a single custom control, but I can't seem to get it to work if I have more than one in there. It just keeps using the one I had in there originally.

Hopefully this will avoid the unnecessay task of changing a file three times.

Importing All Files In A Folder (all Excel Files) Into A Single Table In An Access Database

Aug 23, 2011

I am trying to import a bunch of excel 2003 files all with A:H columns and they are under the same headings etc. into a table in access 2003 database. This is a module in access im making. Im using a file search to look for every file that begins with Format (which they all do ) to get at all the files in the folder path. is there a more efficient way to do this? somehow select all files in a folder? and import each to the same table in access? The DoCmd.TransferSpreadsheet seeems to take each file path individually so I'm not sure how to get each file name in the folder to import it.

I have this at the moment:

Sub Import()
Dim db As Database
Set db = CurrentDb

I found one solution that , if change user rights manually then this problem solved.Follow these step to change your account settings.Control Panel-->User Accounts and Family Safety-->User Accounts-->Change User Account Control settings-->Never notify(Set tab to never notify).After this change need to restart system.Now can make all changes like windows XP into Windows 7.can also make changes into program files.

Its working fine, but need to make these changes manually in OS.but its not efficent solution. So if any one knows how can make these changes by coding that will nice.

VS 2008 Create A Single Row In A Data Table?

Apr 20, 2009

I have a data table.

And I only want to have a single row in this table. I then write the changes to an xml file. The user will edit the row in this table save the values in the settings.properties. And then when ready write the changes to the config file.

However, I am thinking is there a better way. As I have to keep removing the row that was currently added. Then create a new one.

' Add the data to the datatable and write the changes to the config.xml file
Private Sub btnWriteConfig_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As EventArgs)
' Only create a single row. All changes must be made to this row only.

I do not want this. I want to put some code into my file that sais that the tlb files it needs are located in say: [code] and still have it work. again right now they all have to be in the same folder which is really bugging me.

Perform Two Hashing Operations Concurrently On A Single File Without Reading The File Twice?

May 18, 2011

I want to perform two hashing operations concurrently on a single file, without reading the file twice. Is there some way to share the FileStream between two synchronized hashing threads? For example:

Dim Stream As New IO.FileStream("...", IO.FileMode.Open)
Dim HashA, HashB As Byte()
Dim A = New System.Threading.Thread(Sub()

[code]....

Maybe some way of caching a stream? Trouble is, I don't want the entire file in memory at once (it could be many gigabytes in size) and I don't want the file read more than once, due to speed issues. I want the file cached only sufficiently to ensure that both threads can work.For example, suppose at some point in time, thread A had read 100k of the file, but thread B had only read 20k of the file. The portion of the file between 20k and 100k should be cached; but then progressively forgotten as thread B catches up. Then again, if thread B is too slow, we might still end up with hundreds of megabytes being cached.Maybe thread A should be made to wait while thread B catches up. Maybe the ReadByte() function of the stream should block for a while if one of the threads is too far behind?
