How To Declare A Global Variable In A Button Click Event
Jun 8, 2011
I'm wondering whether it is possible to declare a global variable in a click event. I need to declare an array of a specific size. The specific size is generated using a series of IF statements. I only need to know how to declare it.
I need regarding declarations of global variable.. I created a module here is the script.
[Code]...
and then I set the value of that variable in my Login form and then my PROBLEM is when accessing it on the my Main form and I want to display the data of that variable in a textbox, the variable does'nt hold the value that I already set. I'm waiting for replies!
Just working on getting more fluent in Visual Basic over the summer so I'm still sharp for my next visual basic class. My teacher went over variables, but only in local scope.I have looked everywhere, but I can't find exactly what I need. I'm making an alarm clock of sorts, and I have this code to populate the minute array and the hour array.
Public Class Form1 Public Sub Form1_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load
i could use Global x as string in vb6 in a module to declare it with global privelages, how can i do this in vb2008? how to declare a global variable in vb2008? so that i could use it anywhere i want. i know global variables are not recommended in programming but i need one.
I am working on an alarm system software, which is SMS-based. I am using a GSM modem to receive the SMS when a client's premise security devices are triggered. The types of SMS text received will be like for e.g. "fire alert"(when devices triggers), "fire clear"(when devices are 'reset').
My program can detect real and false alarm, it works this way, i will input a premise site-map on a picture box at the main GUI, i can then create buttons at run-time and drag them to the respective position on the map. The buttons created have their text set as the client's block number referred to the database. So basically, a button represent a client. When a device in the client's premise is triggered, a SMS will be sent and my GSM modem will receive it, process the SMS and the button representing the client will start 'flashing' showing that the client's premise is under danger. Then when the button is clicked, which acts as an acknowledgement, will display the client's information on labels and turning that specific button to red color. Finally, when the device is 'resetted' in the client's premise, it will send another SMS to my GSM modem, after processing, the button will be back to normal.
But my program has detect false alarms also, the first part is similar to mentioned above, client's premise security device triggers, SMS sent, SMS received by GSM modem, process SMS, button 'flashing'. Secondly, if the alarm is false, it will be automatically 'resetted' or the client may 'reset' it, then a SMS will be sent to my modem, turning the button to 'flashing' green in color. when 'acknowledged' will display the client's info and the button will become normal.
The problem here i am facing is during the processing of the SMS, because the real and false alarms both will receive the 'clear' SMS when during some stages, but the functions are different and of course the 'checking' for both functions will be different too. The problem occurs at the checking process whereby the 'btn' variable is not detected.
'Try 'AT commands to receive SMS serialPort.Write("AT+CMGL=""REC UNREAD""" & vbCrLf) 'set command message format to text mode(1)
Is it possible with API to see what file is being clicked on with the mouse globally?
Ex: On desktop(or anywhere), mouse clicks a folder/file. <The below part would be easy, considering I would already have the above> Usage - A label generates the folder name/file name.
I thought maybe that the DragQueryFile Function would suffice. But, I think that is geared towards a drag and drop operation from with in a .net form.
i want to know how to use vbscript to declare the function that handles the button onclick event or set a function that handles all button onlick event! both will do i.e) ihave a function
"sub xxx() end sub"
and i generate the buttons using vbscript. i can declare the button id, text without problem.
--dim obj as new button() obj.id="aaa" obj.text="ooo"
the above lines work just fine but when i write obj.onclick = "xxx", it doesn't work. by making settings on the function to handle all button onlick event is also acceptible for me!
Dim LabelArray(12) As Integer LabelArray(0) = Label3.BackColor = Color.White LabelArray(1) = Label4.BackColor = Color.White
[CODE]..................
i have made an array. first of all i want to make it global and on form load i wanna show it's first position and on a button' s click i want to increase it's position by one how can i do that
i'm making some login function with some website but this website button is some different before what i know method. to login this website , first should have to some button click then drop down menu go down then can input id and password. how can i emulate click and make drop down this menu? if you go following website you can see right side 'Log in' button if click this button drop down menu go down [Code]
I have a vb.net application that uses Flash movies (AxShockwaveFlashObjects.AxShockwaveFlash). I have buttons in the flash movie. When they first start using the application, they can single click on the buttons in the flash movie and button responds accordingly. But after a while (and I haven't been able to pin-point an exact thing that changes it or my issue would be solved), the user has to double-click on the button in the flash movie for them to work.
I want to create a server control that inherits System.Web.UI.WebControls.Button but gives it special capability, now what do i mean? i want my button to be a confiorm button that will work like so:
Renders to the page as a button of lets say cancel after the user clicks it i want to catch the click event (within the server control) and now after the click makeing the button not visible and makeing some kind of content placeholder (that will render from the server control) visible. that content place holder will have 2 buttons inside of it: yes and cancel. I want the programmer that adds this control to be able to register a function to the click event of the yes button. and the second cancel confirmation button should make the first button appear agian. (i know how to do this all in the client side but this time i need it all as server events)
My question is this: how do i catch the click event? i want it all to be handled inside the server control itself. so a programmer that adds this control wont have to worry about anything but just needs to register to the click event of the "yes" button.
I believe there wont be any diff if user clicks the button on the form and the click event is fired OR if we call the button click event / function in the code. Because in one my project, this does make diff. If I click the button on the form, the App works great but same button if I click it thru the form code, the whole process crashes. This happens in Vista / VB.net.
I have created a custom control that has a few labels and a button on it. In my main program i dyanmically add this control to a stackpanel. When i add the control i add a few events for it by doing th e following:
Dim newqueue As New UserControl1 AddHandler newqueue.MouseDoubleClick, AddressOf PrintMessage
How would i go about adding an event for the button.click for the button in the custom control?
i want to call a button click event in any other event like this form key down event.if e.control andalso e.keycode=keys.S then savebuttonclick event should be called end if
i have two asp:buttons.. say button1 and button2, what i would like to do is fire button2's click event when I click button1.. is there a way to trigger click event on an asp:button through code behind? please help, newbie here.
What happens if I do: Dim x As New Int32? Is a object of int placed on the heap? If it is, maybe your application would be able to access global variables faster if they were reference types.
A global variable as an value type should be somewhere at the bottom of the stack most of the time and it might take more time to get to this then to get a object from the heap. Unless it's the same story with the pointer of this object is also at the bottom of the stack of course.
How do I declare a global variable in VB - these variable need to be accessible from all the vb forms. I know how to declare public variable for a specific form. but how do I do this for all the forms in my project.
I have an asp.net website to manage projects. I realized that when I click for the next project really fast and often it overrides all the next projects with the data of the first one. I call a method to save before to go for the next project. I use also a session variable for the id of the project.
EDIT: It looks like the sever stacks the save method and the ids but keeps the values of the first project in the controls this is the ajax that calls a server method to get the id and set it in an hidden field:
Im trying to create a diary system that on click event of the built in calander in vb.net opens the current diary entry for that day. i am using the my.settings variables to store the entrys the problems i am having is how to create a my.settings variable automaticly if one dosnt exist for that date (will be using the date of the clicked day as the name e.g. 10/5/2011)
So basicly i want the user to be able to click through the dates on the calander and the entry be displayed in a text box next to it, blank if nothing is there and the user can edit/save them after just need the code to auto create and i guess how to search the my.settings im quite new to using this storage, i normally use text files. the pic shows the program so far, it has one diary entry but it has no relation to the date. the label is linked to the calander also , displaying the selected date.
