I'm not talking about VBA, I need to "work" with them from within my program not from within word or excel. The text is surrounded by symbols represented by the character codes in the .Text statement. The code below is working fine. The issue now is that sometimes the desired text within a document has been marked for deletion and appears as tracked change within the document. I would like to find only the desired text that has NOT been marked for deletion. Does anyone know of a way to determine if the found text is a deletion?

I have used Webbrowser control in editable mode.I am using IHTMLTxtRange for find a word and replacing it with other word.I have to find and replace internally in my code.Following is my code:-

It works fine for all find and replace except if the word contains vbnewline.E.g If in webbrowser control I enter 'Hii <vbnewline> Hello'The above two words contain Enter key(i.e vbnewline) between them.If I pass following string to my Method it doesn't recognize the whole word and doesn't replace the word. I have called my method as

I am trying to create a function that searches each line of a richtextbox and returns that row if one of many search phrases are found.The app works wonderfully when used with longer words or muli word phrases as the search criteria.The problem I have is if the search word/ criteria contains a small string such as bae or sp then I get alot of false positives. Anytime bae or sp is found within any word it returns the results.I need the function to stop looking within the words for results and instead look at the word as a whole for a match.Below you can see that I am taking each line of text in the richtextbox, removing most non-alpha numberic characters and replacing them with spaces.Then I have it remove any double spaces with single spaces.For the search term list I have it take the text before the delimiter;and do the same.Trouble I am having is,if the search term is SP and the search phrase is "This is a space shuttle lauch"it will return the sentence since the sentence contains the word "space" which starts with sp.[code]

View 2 RepliesI'm using the VB.NET 2005 RichTextBox control as a base for a user control that I've written, and one of the functions I'm writing into this control is a spelling check. There's a problem I've found though: I can't preserve RTF markup when corrections to the spelling are made.I've tried my own method of breaking the content up into an array and checking against a dictionary, as well as using MS Word (less ideal because now my control is dependent on having Word installed), but with both the only way I could get it to work at all was to use the Text property. This fails to handle any formatting the user had done to the text, so at the end of the spell check, everything is back to the default font. Bold text, colors, highlight, lists, etc. are lost.
A crappy way I found is to use MS Word, but use a temporary RTF file for the spelling check. Basically I save the content of the RTB into a temporary RTF file, load it with the Word object, run the spell check, save the changes, and then load it back into the RTB. That's a poor solution though, and it still has me bound to MS Word which I would like to avoid.
I'm certain that someone must have found/written/implemented a spelling check like this, so I'm hoping I can get some guidance on how to correctly approach this so I check the spelling of the box and retain all formatting that the user may have made.
I'm trying to write a function to find a word in a string in the this format : "ThisissometextthatIneedtofindandthisisthetext. This is another text."It's read as " This is some text that I need to find and this is the text. This is another text." but there is no space between each word. I want to get the word "text" or any word in that string. Can you help me with this function with a code sample ?
And I think that this method can be implemented with a string of Unicode also because in a sentence of Unicode it contains one or few, sometimes zero spaces between each word.

I would like to do this all in code and able to run multiple instances of the program to get information from many different web sites. Is something like this possiable in VB.net?
View 3 RepliesIve got an app that holds a list of site we have, At each site there are a few devices. The idea is when they click on a site all the details for the site are loaded and then a second thread sits and pings each device to see if its live. Im trying to do this in a seperate thread so if they click another site while its still pinging them it doesn't wait before it switches site. This all seems to be workling fine except if you click through the sites quickly, when you do that it will eventually come up with

When i publish my program i choose to let the application check for updates via a website and if their is one update automatically when the program starts. Is their a way were on the main user form i can make it so that the user can change the update site with out me building the program again with the new site. I want to do this becuase the site i use goes down alot so when i changed the update url no one was able to download the update for the new update server.

The app works fine in every detail when installed on the development computer. But, on the target computer when the command button is clicked an unhandled exception occurs which says: System.IO. FileNotFoundException:File Not found.My code behind the button is Shell("C:Program Files (x86)Internet Exploreriexplore.exe www,fidelity.com",AppWinStyle.NormalFocus)
This works fine on the development computer. Do I need a way to code this as a relative path? If so,can you tell me how this is done?Throughout the app I have written relative paths to needed files using paths like (Open(Environment. GEtFolderPath (Environment. SpecialFoldder.Desktop) + "File Name). They all work fine when deployed.
For a class project I am thinking of doing a Spelling Bee game. I would like to have a button that will place the word in a sentence, and a button that will give the definition. Are there .txt dictionaries out there with this information? I've checked a few places like WordNet but I didn't see a dictionary that also includes sentence info. My other concern is using custom classes. I don't have a lot of experience creating classes, and I really want to become more familiar with them, so it is important that I integrate them into this project. What would be a logical way using classes in this project? Maybe a 'word' class?
View 1 RepliesI'm being asked to maintain several internal-only web apps for my company. For testing, after making my changes, I've created some staging sites which make use of separate databases. As such, if my users were to mistakenly use this site as if it were the production site, they may enter important data and wonder where it "disappeared" to thinking it was the production server.
I'd like to create a big banner of some sort across the top of the staging site (which ONLY appears on the staging site) to remind my users that they are on the test site. I'd like recommendations on the best way to do this, with the following considerations:

View 1 RepliesI was using .indexof("myword"), then all of a sudden huge problem and headache... i was using .indexof("produce") and then it kept replacing the word produced cause produce was triggered by the first 7 letters.then i tried to use .contains("produce") and it did the same thing.so basically it doesnt search for the WHOLE word, if a WHOLE WORD begins with the phrase your searching for then it wont work.so how do i search for WHOLE words?

I am working on highlighting a word when entered in a textbox.
Example:
string = "hi this is <b>testing</b>"
When i enter the word "testing" in textbox and click on search then it is highlighting the word "testing". but when i enter "is testing" in textbox and click on search then it is not highlighting the word "is testing". this is due to there is bold tag for "testing".
How can we highlight the word which is in bold tag...
Is there a way in LINQ to Entities (SQL) to identify all records where a specified word is repeated at least/less than a specified number of times?
I can do this in memory, looking for at least 3 instances of the word "word" using:
Where(Function(x) x.Description.Split("word").Count > 3)
However the Split() function cannot translate to a SQL equivalent, and so this can only be executed in-memory, which is excruciatingly slow by the time any number of records are involved.
The SQL to do this would be something like
WHERE Description LIKE '%word%word%word%'
And that's as far as I get - I can't work out how to get that SQL generated by LINQ to Entities. I tried the ugly hacky .Where(Function(x) x.Description.Contains("word%word%word") on the off chance, but I'm almost relieved that it doesn't work!
Let's say I have an object that contains a Word property and a Sentence property. The sentence must use the word, and I want to replace the word in that sentence with a link using a public function (say, GetLinkedSentence). The catch is maybe the sentence uses a plural form of the word and maybe the "word" itself is actually a phrase, or is even hyphenated. There's no length limit to the word either. How do I find and replace this word (in ASP.NET, preferably VB) with a link [word])?
