Assume my form has four text boxes and it's bond with a Dataset, therefore The user can 1-4 fields. Typically I write one update statement that take four input parameters. Therefore I update the updated fields as well as non updated field. To do this in the proper way, how many update statements I have to write?

I have a problem in updating statements, can't write it correctly, every time I try to edit it, gives me different error (ora-01036 illegal variable name/number, missing expression, invalid identifier).
I have the following code in a VB .NET application. I am trying to update columns in an Oracle table with data with SQL data. When I run the application, I get (ORA-00933: SQL command not properly ended) for the 'or_cmd_3.ExecuteNonQuery()' line.
If I strip out the code and run it in TOAD or SQL Developer, replacing the temp varialve with some bogus data it updates fine. What am I missing?

I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around data access in VB2010. I have properly set up a datagridview, table adapter etc... I have only 3 columns showing (out of 7 that are stored) in my datagridview (dgv for the sake of less typing).i don't show the ID column which is the unique index. It's hidden.what I want to do is have a button on each row (already done that) that, when clicked, deletes the row from the dgv AND the database. View 3 RepliesI have a bindingsource question, didn't know if anyone had run into this before, but,there are several textboxes I put on a form, the text of each textbox is bound to a field in a table from the bindingsource. Why is it when I update the tableadapter, some of the fields update and some of them don't?

I have a table in my database that the fields of it are not fixed in number and name. in fact this table is the statistical report of other sections of my database.I want show this table in a data Grid View after finish calculation. I have created the form and the database. I can send info to the database but it is put on a new line everytime it is submitted. I would like to check the first column of the table to see if the user login is already there. If it is there I would like to update the information. I established the connection with the DB(access 2000) and when I run the program I edit the fields on DataGridView.
Then I click on the update button and when I access again my DB I don't see any changes... :s

The problem is that when one navigates the combobox via the keyboard, the combobox's information doesn't update. If you click a value with your mouse, though, everything works wonderfully. The link I've mentioned suggests changing the binding from the Text property to the SelectedItem property. I'm very deep into this project and it would be a bit of a nuisance to change the setup so as to allow it to be bound to the SelectedItem property.What I'm wondering is whether or not I can detect the user changing the selected entry in the combobox and tell VB that they "clicked" the value, if that makes any sense.

I've been running into some errors with converting strings to dates in the following code. I have recently added the intcall.Value = DateTime.Parse(txtIntCallDate.Text) function which had gotten rid of the error message, however the records are not being updated, any of them on the form. Prior to this the strings were being updated just fine. As long as there is a date entered on the form there is no error, if it's left blank i get the "Problem converting string to datetime"

I am making a booking system. I am using same form for insertion and updation. How can I update by taking the values from the textboxes. For example if the user enters value for just 2 out of 8 fields then How can i update just 2 fields without affecting the rest of the record. View 3 RepliesI have a project which contains a large number of lookup tables, and I have all of these lookup tables represented in a single typed DataSet, which contains TableAdapters for each lookup. I've designed an editor for these lookup tables, which should allow editing of one of these at a time. My front-end is written in VB and WinForms, the back-end is a SOAP web service; I can successfully pass the changes to the DataSet back to the web service, but can't find a way to use a TableAdapter to update the single table that has been changed.
What I'm trying to do is instantiate the appropriate TableAdapter for the updated DataTable by sending the name of the table back to the web service along with the DataSet, then referring to the TableAdapter with a dynamic name. The normal way to instantiate a TableAdapter is this:
