Main development XP machine died so I got a new XP machine, installed SQL Server 2005 and VS 2005 Pro, and copied my files.Projects in new VS 2005 work except the Data Sources pane won't refresh and won't show all my data sources for an existing project (from the old machine.)

View 1 RepliesI am creating a project in VB.NET in which one of the reports require that the name of employees should be displayed as column names and whatever work they have done for a stated period should appear in rows below that particular column.Now as it is clear, the columns will have to be added at runtime. Am using an ODBC Data source to populate the grid. Also since a loop will have to be done to find out the work done by employees individually, so the number of rows under one column might be less or more than the rows in the next column.Is there a way to create an empty data table and then update its contents based on columns and not add data based on addition of new rows.

For example, delete all scheduled tasks which start with "My Application Tasks..."
I wanna use this VBS script in my application uninstaller so all tasks created by my application are removed at the uninstall time, however am not familiar with VBS.
Somehow the User.Config file was corrupted for an instance of my VB .NET app. When access one of my user level config property (My.Settings.MyProp) I get the a ConfigurationErrorsException with the message "Configuration system failed to initialize." I looked at the User.Config file and found that it is empty, it can be opened but there is no XML text contained within.I would like to programmatically fix the file if an exception is seen. When I attempt to use any of my user level properties, I continue to get the same exception. I've tried calling the Reset() but that yeilds the same exception. I then tried Save() to see if it would write out a default version, but it appears to do nothing (the file is not updated). My.Settings appears to be useless at this point.How can I reinitialize the User.Config file to the default config settings without deleting the old file? I would think that there should be some mechanism for restoring this file back to its default. And how can I update/reinitialize the My.Settings instance so that I can access the properties normally?

View 3 RepliesI have a DataGridView to which I've set a list of objects to the DataSource. (I'm in VS 2005 using VB.) I created the DataGridView by creating a Data Source of type AssetIdentifier and dragging that Data Source onto my form. I want to update the DataGridView when the selection in either a combo box or another DataGridView changes. (Below I'm considering a click in another DataGridView.)
The following works:

In this case, I always knew that assetIdList would have at least one element. I'd update the list, and reset the data source of the DataGridView to that list, and all was well. When I applied this to another situation, for which I couldn't guarantee that the list would have at least one element, things would work fine as long as I had at least one element in the list, but if the list became empty, the DataGridView threw System.IndexOutOfRangeException a number of times.
The rows in the DataGridView would not go away if I went from a non-zero number of elements to zero. I tried a workaround, which was to remove all of the elements, add one "dummy" element, and then re-bind the list to the control and it still didn't work. Also, following all of those exceptions, I'd get other similar exceptions when I hovered over the cells in the DataGridView. Some of the members of AssetIdentifier were "Nothing" but I fixed that in the constructor, and the exceptions still occur.
I am building a vb.net application for a client, and there is a problem. I am connecting to a mySQL server, and using the UPDATE command to update certain fields to the specified values, however, once I run this code, the fields on the mySQL server turn EMPTY. Here is my code :

If so, and it is of a higher exception type, is this not wrapping the exception? eg I can throw exception ex of type IndexOutOfRange, log it but rethrow, catch a higher up exception and do something, or I can throw a new exception and wrap an inner exception like:

View 1 RepliesI was doing cross-domain ajax calls from an HTML-only (no server programming) page, to a PHP backend on a different domain. I realized at one point that I couldn't do POST with cross-domain, so I figured I needed a local proxy. Unfortunately, PHP is not available on that domain so I have to resort to ASP.NET.So I built a very quick & dirty vb.net proxy... It works, except for one very important detail. If any of my form fields contain HTML, the data is not sent to PHP (or PHP doesn't receive it, I'm not sure). Actually, the $_POST variable exists, it's just empty all the time as soon as it contains what looks like html code, such as <p>. That same field, if it doesn't contain an HTML tag, will work fine and the data is passed on to the PHP page. [code]
Oh the PHP side, all I'm doing is $var = $_POST["htmldata"]; , and $var is always empty. I'd give an example of my PHP but I don't know that it's necerssary. $_POST["action"], for example, contains the correct action I'm expecting, so it's not the PHP code itself that's wrong.Well, if you encode the HTML so html entities are correctly passed on (not as <), it works!

I have some code that takes a screen capture of my monitor. This code seems to work perfectly OK and can take multiple screen captures, apart from when I do a Print Screen using the keyboard or open SnagIT 8, when I then try to run my code again I get an error "A generic error occured in GDI+" I am at a bit of a loss, I have had a look on the internet, but everything I seem to find appears to be related to web apps. and access permissions. This is a window based application and therefore can not seem to find an answer.[code]

I've read on internet that this is a write permission issue or it has something to do with the stream. Anyway I dunno how to alter the coding so that every user can make a screenshot.
i try to save image to a folder on a server. i load the image from a fileupload control, resize it and save to the folder. this works fine when i run from Visual studio. But when i deployed to the server, i get the error: "Generic Error Occured in gdi+". In trying to solve this, i give network service and asp.net accounts permissions to the folder.
