How to do such Formatted Formats in VB2008.
When sending numbers over my server/client, I need to first convert them into strings and pack them together into larger strings, then deconvert them at the opposite end. I need to ensure that they occupy exactly the correct number of spaces in the string - for example I need an integer to use up 4 spaces. So for example, if I had a byte, then 2 integers, I need the first character to contain the byte, characters 2,3,4,5 to contain the first integer and 6,7,8,9 to contain the second integer. Then I can retrieve each number from the string using Mid(Position,Length) and convert it back to a number.I know how to convert bytes using chr and asc, but how would I convert my integers into my string and ensure they occupy the correct number of spaces in the string (and back).All the conversion methods I've looked don't seem to fit the bill. Will I need to write my own function to achieve this?

For...Next to take each character out of the string
For...Next to display each character in Unicode
The only problem I have is with the separation on each character in the string. I know I have to use a For...Next loop to check each spot in the string. But how would I move on past the first character?
Can you look at this code? It's a class module that I made so I can make our application more modular.

View 39 RepliesI am making a gradient colored text tool for a game I play where they use a 3 digit number as an RGB color code before text. Making gradients by hand is tedious, as to do a gradient you type one letter at a time with an RGB code that changes by 1 in front of each letter.
example: "^090H^190e^290l^390l^490o" Would be a color gradient for Hello
I have a user input text into a text box and choose up to 6 colors. The colors then are assigned RGB values, only instead of 0-255 they are 0-9. (So they look like this 000=black 999=white 090=green, etc.)
I have figured out how to do this, but now I need to place the RGB values in front of the users text while only changing one of the RGB numbers at a time.
So if the color values are 090 and 900:
"090 190 290 390 490 590 690 790 890 990 980 970 960 950 940 930 920 910 900" is what I would like generated with the users text spaced evenly between.
I have no idea as to how I would go about putting three digit color codes between the users text or how to change the color codes one number at a time. I could try to do this on my own but it would be sloppy and probably a lot more code than needed (I have a feeling I should be using a loop or something like 'for each')... It's been awhile since I opened VB!

I need to write a program to convert in a textbox a number to its roman numeral and written english equivalent. I can write everything except how to get the program to recognize the numbers and convert it into what I need it to.
This is what I have so far, and I'm not completely sure if this is even right, but I can't figure much else out. I've talked to other people who know about this and they aren't sure how to go about it, and my book isn't a big help either.

I'm trying to figure out the best and or easiest way to print to a pre-formatted invoice form so that my data lines up with the appropriate fields on the invoice. I've looked at PrintForm from the Power Packs, but it doesn't print a full 8 1/2 x 11 page that I can tell. I was thinking about storing the data to a text file and printing the text file, but I know there are going to be problems if I use hard spaces inbetween the text. Is there a way to use some kind of absolute positioning to line up my data? If so, how would I go about doing that?

View 2 RepliesI have a datagridview and I'd like to write it to a file in the same type of row and column format it's currently in.My first idea for doing this is to get the maximum number of characters in each column so i know how wide each column has to be formatted. Then loop through each row and write out each row while using the max characters in each column and the current cells content length to do the math to get the formatted columns to line up. Like the example below, except i'd have a lot more in it.

This takes label(1) and label(2) and writes them so no mater the length of either (to an extent) then will always be right hand aligned in two columns.
im working with datagridview here and I got thing that gets values from there but it gives sometimes this at some values...
