This should, when you are typing in a function, display the "Get or sets the Patient Code" then below that, it should display a list of bulleted items with "Validation:" as the header? Maybe I am doing it wrong, but it doesn't seem to be working correctly.
When typing in Visual Studio the list of possible values returned by the Intellisense is not limited to the possible values for the type and instead lists all the items. In the example below after I type the '=' to set the default value for a property, intellisense will list hundreds of possible values instead of just the ProductTypes.Item1, ProductTypes.Item2 & ProductTypes.Item3.

When I use the following:
for
It shows BadImageFormatException, when I want For Each
When I have to specify a parameter value which is of an predefined enumeration type, all I want is a list of possible values within this enumeration.
I just converted my project from VS 2005 to 2008 and started getting really bad lag only when intellisense iterates my dataset objects. The cpu maxes out one of my cores for about 2-3 seconds each time the intellisense list pops up. Is this a new feature of the 2008 ide?
View 19 RepliesI am creating a function and want to have IntelliSense pop down the list of valid options for a certain parameter in the same way that the MsgBox function behaves when you are typing your argument for which buttons you wish to include (such as MsgBoxStyle.OkCancel). I have done my best to search the internet but haven't found a thing which comes close to what I'm seeking. My monkeying around hasn't produced a satisfactory solution, yet, either.
A related additional thing, which I can live without but that would be nice to have, is the description of the current parameter, which appears below the function description as shown highlighted below MsgBox (Prompt As Object, [Buttons as Microsoft.Visual Basic.MsgBoxStyle = MsgBoxStyle .DefaultButton1], [Title as Object = Nothing]) AsMicrosoft.VisualBasic.MsgBoxResult
Buttons: Optional. Numeric expression that is the sum of values specifying the number and type of buttons to display, the icon style to user, the identity of the default button, and the modality of the message box. If you omit Buttons, the default is zero. This is my first post. I'm relatively new to VB .Net.
When you INHERIT from TabControl to create a different version of the TabControl, then BUILD the designer will add 2 TabPagesby default when you add your new TabControl from the ToolBox to a Form.
View 1 RepliesI use the data binding mode to fill data into a list box, that is just fill all of the data in the table. if I want to group one of the table column and only display it in the listbox, how can I get this done? I know how to add a getData query to my table adapter, but how can I bind that new datatable to the list box at runtime?? cuz I need to put the data binding mode information in before I run the application and in the binding mode is no way to choose that getData query.
View 4 RepliesI'm wondering if there is any code that I could use in VB.net so it can determine the computer's startup mode (such as safe mode or safe mode with networking).
View 1 Repliesi am using visual studio 2005 on win 7 with office 2007. i have developed win application. i am using microsoft activex spreadsheet component in my program. so it automatically creates reference to AxInterop.OWC11.dll When i run program in debug mode (open program and click RUN in toolbar it works) but if i run directly .exe (go to bin elease doubleclick .exe) it give error at loading point of that component. It says "Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory has been corrupted." An unhandled exception occurrs.

I work for a shop that maintains a fairly new app. The app still has its fair share of bugs, with numerous tickets coming in daily. The error information we're given with those tickets is not as useful as it might be because the application was compiled in Release mode, which I read is smaller and faster (makes sense).
Are there any ramifications to deploying a .NET application to production that was compiled in Debug mode? I would expect it would be a bit slower, but I've read the difference is nominal. This would assure us that when we get errors on tickets we have line number associated with those errors and this, of course, makes debugging much easier. major red flags that would prevent you from doing this? I'm tasked with researching the possibility.
i want to build a datatable where each cell has a list(of integer)
is there a way to force the table to add automatically a new empty list(of integer) in each cell every time a new row is created without adding this cell by cell ?
I have dropdown list with name : list I want the first index to be the defualt value of dropdown list .
how could do I do this ?
I would like to get a list of sql server instances on a computer but need both default and named instances. In the post: [URL] the code works perfectly for finding the default instance of SQL Server but it doesn't show other running instances (named instances). On my development computer, SQL Server Express, SQL Server 2005 (both named instances) and SQL Server 2008 (default) are all running but express and 2005 don't appear in the combobox dropdown list.
View 3 RepliesThis is applicable to C# and VB.Net. I am writing a console application, but one aspect of it I want to make representable in a GUI (that being downloads running, with progress bars). is it possible to write a console mode application that can also have a form in it that can be called from code inside the console component?

I am not too sure about the syntax , since I am still very new to VB..
So this is what I have in a class
Code:Public Class DocumentDelivery Implements IDisposable Public Shared RenderList As New List(Of Byte()())
Public Function Initialize(ByRef env As et.User.SystemCommon.Environment, ByRef errs As et.Exec.Utilities.ErrorCollection) As Boolean
[Code]...
I didn't write the existing class, I am just making changes to it. I am not sure why there is no constructor. However, Intialize() is called every time a the class is created.Right now, I set the default capacity of the RenderList, (the class variable) to 1 in Initialize method.
Is there a way to set the capacity outside of the initialize method? what is the syntax?
I need to print the contents of 3 textboxs to default printer. what examples I have found dont seem to work. I was trying the documentprint1 component as i thought it would be easy but cant figure out how to tell it what to print the second part is to print a variable (string) to the printer as well.no need for user to select just straight to default printer with its default settings
View 1 RepliesI have a combobox which contains a sample of names selected from a table.Currently the default name displayed in the box is the 1st name found in the table. What I would like to do is display the name of the person who is doing the selection as the default. The name is stored in a public variable 'PubName' and I do not want the user to be able to type into the combobox themselves. Is this possible?
View 2 RepliesI am creating my own browser. I want to make an option...to set as the browser to default. To do that I have to:Write a code which opens html(generally internet) file through my browser(form load event) DoneChange the "open with..." of the .html,.xml.... files Problem I want to change the open with event from my web browser. Actually i want an options form which will ask the user "Do you want to set /Browser name/ to be your default browser?" If yes then it will change the default options of the internet files.
View 5 RepliesI find myself frequently turning off Intellisense because it adds wrong choices to my code. For example if I try to type "i " (without the quotes) it causes "int " to be put into my code. If I type "for " it may put "form " into my text.
Reaching for the ESC key constantly slows down my typing. (It's such a long way to reach for small hands). Is there an alternative way to exit out of intellisense without the highlighted choice being placed into my code, or is a way I can define a different key for this purpose?
is there a way to enable IntelliSense for XML literals in VB9 (VS 2008)?The ideal source of IntelliSense is an XSD document, but I can use anything else format to do it.
View 2 RepliesI do not get intellisense working when creating a Property. How do I get intellisense to work here? Intellisense seems to work otherwise, just not with the Get / Set instantiations.
View 9 RepliesI am primarily a C# developer; however, I am currently working on a project for a client who preferred VB.net. I have managed to switch over fairly well, with one frustrating exception. When editing a C# file in Visual Studio pressing enter will select an item out of the IntelliSense window and keep the cursor at the end of the selected statement.
However, when editing a VB file, pressing enter selects the item out the IntelliSense popup AND moves the cursor to the next line. I realize that this is a small thing, but it drives me crazy, because it makes it really hard to switch between C# and VB projects.
I have searched for everything I can think of in Google and found nothing. Does anyone know of a way to change the IntelliSense selection behavior?
Using lambda's in VB.Net results in no intellisense. Is this a bug with VS2010 or expected? Note that it works fine in C#
Return Array.TrueForAll(chequeColl, Function(x) x.Number <> "N") 'No intellisense Number does not appear
Return Array.TrueForAll(chequeColl, Function(x As MyClass) x.Number <> "N") 'Now casted intellisense appears
UPDATE: Here's an example
Public Class Cheque
Public Property Id As String
Public Property Status As Byte
[code]....
In VB.NET projects, errors are highlighted immediately after cursor leaves the line. In C#, I have to wait several seconds for IntelliSense to highlight it. Also, the C# version doesn't show all project errors in "Errors List", unless you start to build it. Actually, it seems to work differently in every way. Is it possible to adjust that behavior?
I am using both Visual Studio 2008 and Visual Studio 2010.
I'm using coderush with vs 2008. coding in VB.net. I don't see any evidence of Intellassist, all i see is the usual VS intellisense. Is this normal? Preferred? Do most people leave the defaults or do most/some turn off vs's intellisense? Does intellassist somehow argument intellisence?
View 1 Repliesi know someone will say this belongs in database programming but i don't think this problem is to do with databases and is more to do with visual studio.
when i start to type oledb.oledb..... intellisense would usually give me an option for oledbcommandbuilder. in the current program i am doing for coursework this option is not given. i can choose oledb.oledbcommand but i do not know how to use it (too advanced for A-levels, yes i'm british) if i actually type oledb.oledbcommandbuilder visual studio does'nt show an error in my error list. so what is going on? how can i get visual studio to recognise oledb.oledbcommandbuilder?
Is it possible to enable XML intellisense in a C# class as it is in the VB editor? Similar to this article's prescriptions:
