Create A List Class Variable With Default Size Of "1"?
Apr 8, 2010
I am not too sure about the syntax , since I am still very new to VB..
So this is what I have in a class
Code:Public Class DocumentDelivery Implements IDisposable Public Shared RenderList As New List(Of Byte()())
Public Function Initialize(ByRef env As et.User.SystemCommon.Environment, ByRef errs As et.Exec.Utilities.ErrorCollection) As Boolean
[Code]...
I didn't write the existing class, I am just making changes to it. I am not sure why there is no constructor. However, Intialize() is called every time a the class is created.Right now, I set the default capacity of the RenderList, (the class variable) to 1 in Initialize method.
Is there a way to set the capacity outside of the initialize method? what is the syntax?
I want to read a number of items from a file and then associate each of those items with a new button at run-time, so that when the user clicks one of the buttons I can display some information about that item. Can I use a LIST to manage these buttons and items? Can I create a new class and have each list item of that class, such as 'btnID', 'btnText', etc... ?
Is that possible to create a class in vb.net that is not in the default namespace of the project?
for example, say you have a project call sample1, then automatially IDE will have everything default to the Sample1 as your namespace root rather than under global, which is find for most case.but I want to create some classes that is directly under global namespace
I'm quite new to Visual Basic - using Visual Studio 2008 and can't seem to find a way to do the following:
I have a few tables in a SQL Server database and have used LINQ to SQL to create classes of those tables.
Here's a cut down example of what I'd like:listbox1 filled with table names - APS, SMPS, WCPC, CFLAPS Then from the SelectedIndexChanged event, listbox2 should populate column headers of the selected table.
I have no issues getting data from the database, and can access all of these headers through the anonymous type objects created from a LINQ query (eg APS.ID, APS.count etc), but populating a listbox with these variable names rather than the data inside them seems rather elusive.
This is probably a cross platform coding question rather than VB specific, so if you have a solution in C# or whatever I'd be happy if you could let me know.
I am trying to create new variables inside a class after creating its object at runtime. The problem is that I don't know the variable names or the value beforehand so I have to create the new variables at runtime.
[Code]...
This is a more elaborate explanation of my code. If you observe that in the Eval function I have tried to evaluate Fval(abc). Now the object array abc is not declared in the Test class because it existence is not known beforehand. What I want to do is create an object array abc of length 2 and populate it with some values and when Fval(abc) is called then then the value of index 1 should be the return value of Eval fucntion.
I want to create a class that has a list of possible values that can be used.Example: when you create one like this: Dim a As ClassName = , a list will pop up in intellisense.or when the class is used as a property on a usercontrol, you can click the combobox and pick from the values. Here is what the value list looks like for the Color class: vs value selection.PNG
when I click the Open button a file is opened and its items are sorted alphabetically. to do this I have doubled the size of my list. However, when I click the button again to reopen the same file, the items will ADD ON to the previous open-file event even though I have this piece of lstListboxTwo.Items.Clear()(the correct thing is to clear the previous items and add the new ones)So I think this has to do with the new size of my list..I think that I have to set the list size back to its normal size when re-clicking on the button.
Public Class frmForm Dim List() As String = {""} Dim count As Integer
Is it possible to create a user control with a list of custom class type property? If it is, how can I? The issue is that, in designer mode the property is not displayed in property window. I can add the list on markup but when i switch to the designer mode it gives an error which is 'The user control does not have a public property named BookList'.
I'm a new user of Visual Studio 2008. While I am a fan of Tabbed Browsing, I am in no way a fan of Tabbed Programming, so I have my "Window Layout" set to "Multiple Documents".However, I have been horrified to find that the default window size for any form or module opened is about 9/10ths of the work space. When I resize the window and close it, it opens back up again to 9/10ths of the work space. This is going to very seriously impact my work flow. There has to be some kind of mistake. I've looked for a way to set the default window size, but to no avail. I've searched the web for 3rd party plugins that would let me have more control over the IDE, but also to no avail. Is there some way to set the default window size in Visual Studio 2008? It would seem remarkably amateurish to not provide this extremely basic functionality.
What i want to do is simple but at the same time complicated. I have multiple .PDF file and i want to print them all. Thing is, all the .PDF are in 8,5 X 11 paper size. The printer is also on this paper size by default and i want to print them in a different size. I want to change the default printer size programatically so it prints in the right format. I need to change this in the program because i need to print in a few different paper size.
here is some code
Dim Process1 As New Process Dim starter As New ProcessStartInfo("C:Program FilesAdobeReader 10.0ReaderAcroRd32.exe", "/t " + path + filename + " " + printername + "")
This is a program in vb.net, but I'm planning to use an outside process by using system.diagnostics.process.start("C:Otherprogram.exe") Now what I want to do is to resize the default size of window of outside process, can I do that?So that only the things that will be needed by the user can be seen?
I want to modify the default Object text size for all objects I place on my form. When I am teaching, it is hard to see the text on the objects. I have changed the code area to 16 pt, but I have not seen how to modify the default font size of the object. They all are 8.8 pt.
I recently made my own custom control, but is there any way to set the default size of the control when it is created?I did a bit of searching and found that I could change the size of the control at runtime with:
vb Protected Overrides Sub OnHandleCreated(ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Me.Width = 200
[code]....
But the size doesn't update in the design view until I run the program;?
Im working with vb.net and microsoft word using Microsoft.Office.Interop.Word and everything is fine. My only problem is I cant find a way to change the default page size printing setting from "letter" to "A4". This code was doing the job for Crystal reports but isnt doing it for Word
So i have this code that changes the size and the font of the text but my problem is that how can i make the font and the size of the font to return back to default after it runs this code.
ListView1.Items.Add("Found Files In C: ")
My code
Dim Font As Font Font = ListView1.Font ListView1.Font = New Font(Font.Name, 32, FontStyle.Bold)
Create a class named Service. Inside the Service class, declare a class variable named Started. The datatype of this variable is Boolean.Public Class Service Dim started as Boolean End Class Create a class named Server. Inside the Server class, declare a dynamic array that can contain elements of the type Service.(Note: For convenience, both the array and the variable Started can be accessible from a client program that creates an instance of Server and Service respectively)
Create a constructor for the Service class. When the constructor is executed, it will set the value of the class variable Started to True. Create two new classes: WebServer and DatabaseEngine. Both of these classes inherit from the class Service. Inside the Service class, declare a Sub procedure (method) named Terminate. This method should display the following text Service stopping in a message box when executed. This method can be overridden in classes that inherit from Service class.
Inside both the WebServer and DatabaseEngine class, override the method Terminate inherited from their base class Service. Both methods should first call the base class Terminate method. The messages Web server stopping and Database engine stopping should also be displayed in a message box when the Terminate method for the WebServer and DatabaseEngine are called respectively. These messages should only be displayed if the Started variable inherited from their base class is not equal to False.
Inside the Server class, declare a method named Shutdown. This method does not return any value. When executed, it will call the Terminate method for each of the Service instances (if any) in the arrServices array. You should call the Terminate method within a For Each loop that loops through the elements of the arrServices array.
In the Sub Main method, create an instance of the class Server. Set the size of the arrServices array in your Server instance to contain 2 elements. Create first a WebServer instance and then a DatabaseEngine instance into this array. Call the Shutdown method from your Server instance.
I want to created a nested class that can only be visible to and instantiated from the parent class. But I also want to be able to use an instance of the nested class through a public variable of the parent class.I tried making the nested class private, or making the nested class' constructor private, but it won't compile. Is it possible to do this in .NET?
I have procedure (Import) that calls a for a new instance of frmImportData. I also have a class name clsBatch that has a data table property called prpParametersTable. For some reason, I get an error (indicated below with ERROR>>>) when trying to assign prpParameterTable to cv_dtImport2. The error states "Object reference not set to an instance of an object.". Why does this error not happen when I assign dtBP to cv_dtImport1? Both cv_dtImport1 and cv_dtImport2 are equal to Nothing and in my Import procedure dtBP = prpParametersTable.
Public Sub Import(ByVal clsB As clsBatch) Try Me.cv_clsB = clsB
I have three class files, accounts.vb and transactions.vb in addition to my form.vb. I am unable to retrieve a member variable from on class from inside the other. When the combobox index changes, the program loads the correct account (checking or saving) from two different sequential files. I don't think I have the calcBalance procedure in the correct class file. And that is what I am having trouble with. Accessing it to display it. [Code]
Class Human End Class and another class which refers to the human class
Class ASD Private somevar as new Human End Class
Ok now i've got a problem, i wish to rename my class Human, to Man. i've got to change Human to Man 2 times, which is OK but the problem is that in the real case, its not just 2 times, its like 500 times or more.
Well its something like a PHP on Javascript.
the following shows the solution of what i'm trying to do, but its in another language PHP/Javascript:
note: in php $ sign declares a variable, echo writes the variable out
I think (?) this is about object design, and perhaps about structural and/or creational patterns. But a bit hard to say when I only know a couple of patterns yet.[code]But... what if we INSTEAD want each Product instance only to (in some way) refer to one instance of a specific list of Components. So we wan't to save the products list to one file, and the components list to another file. Then would I build the objects the same way, or different? So let's then say we have now Class B as below. [code]
1. Will not need to update each component variable of the products list when the components list changes.
2. If the Product object shall be shown in a DataGridView, for editing properties, it seems easier to implement the selection of the component property.
Is this wrong approach? Is it suitable in some cases, and if so, when? Are there other solutions I perhaps am not aware of that would be appropriate? Is this about structural design patterns? and if so, can the alternatives above be catagorized to some pattern type? I don't really know exactly what I'm looking for.. But I think probably I'm looking to understand whether the object design will be determined by the way the objects are saved.. And if i shall save the objects by serializing to file, vs saving to a database, would I create the business objects differently?
