I want to modify the default Object text size for all objects I place on my form. When I am teaching, it is hard to see the text on the objects. I have changed the code area to 16 pt, but I have not seen how to modify the default font size of the object. They all are 8.8 pt.

I have created an instance of a Rich Text Box:

I was able to write to it using:

I was able to save the document to a file:

What I cannot find is how to set the font, and font size. IntelliSense doesn't help. Everything is "read only", meaning retrieve a current value.

I programatically / runtime created combobox and bind it to a datasource but can not set its default value. Since I am using the Handler of SelectedValueChanged, this is causing the program to mis-fire. Here is the code I am using.

My app writes events to event log from time to time using below [code]...
Problem is this app is installed on multiple remote sites and form time to time the event log becomes full one or the other pc and app start to give error. Is there a way to set the Event Log, Log Size setting to 'Overwrite events as needed' via code so the event log never fills up?
How can one set the screen size? As with the task bar, by incressing the size sets new limits when maximizing an application's window. How can I tell the system what would be the demensions of the desktop screen: left, top, width, height?

Here's the issue: I'm testing and have tested an application on my local machine and ToString(), by default, is returning in a format of "MM/dd/yyyy hh:mm:ss tt", however on our server it appears to be returning as "dd/MM/yyyy hh:mm:ss tt" which the consuming application is not expecting and causing errors.

I am trying to set the "ColumnHeadersDefaultCellStyle" property to the "GoudyHvyface BT" font and it will not change from the default. I am using Visual Basic 2008.
I have set the property properly with no success.
I have tried to set the property in code, using the suggestions in the MSDN and it kept throwing errors.
So I made a little program, and when I run it on my computer the Date format displays as DD/MM/YYYY, but when I run it on some other computers it displays as MM/DD/YYYY. Is there anyway to set the default incoming Date format? Or do I just have to be very careful about how I get/set parts of dates?
View 5 RepliesI am creating a customised version of the ListView control and there are several of the properties that a ListView has that I would like to be set to a different value to the ListView default when a user goes to use my user control.
From what I've found there seems to be a number of people suggesting just set them in the constructor, but to the best of my knowledge that would just mean that the user would not be able to change the properties in the PropertyGrid in the VS IDE.I assume this is probably something extremely simple that I have overlooked.
I have a label printer with the driver loaded with the settings in the driver set I can print the exact label that I want, I have the problem that I need to set the default settings in the driver when the software starts. there are 6 of these printers and the only problem we have found is that different operators like to change the settings.
What I need to do is to set the following commands in the driver so each time the system is started (daily) it loads the settings and works properly.
I need to set
Custom Commands Text, Start, Parsed Text
In the Advanced Setup, turn on use printer settings
Other settings would be usfull but as I cannot set these I do not think I will be able to set others.
I can currently set some of the commands eg,

I have a form that has two text boxs User ID and password. My question user must move cursor to the User ID field. But it should default to that field as that is the only option. How to do it in .net?
View 3 RepliesFor some reason when I place a button on a form and type some text, the text is too big for the button. Descenders are not shown (i.e., the bottoms of g's, p's, q's, etc.). Does anyone know how to modify the default settings of the button, such as the height or font size? Obviously I can change these properties after I place the button on the form, but this gets old. My default font size is 7.8pt San Serif. If possible I would like to increase the default button height and the font size (I like to use bigger text for teaching in class so those in the back of the room can see).

While I am a fan of Tabbed Browsing, I am in no way a fan of Tabbed Programming, so I have my "Window Layout" set to "Multiple Documents".However, I have been horrified to find that the default window size for any form or module opened is about 9/10ths of the work space. When I resize the window and close it, it opens back up again to 9/10ths of the work space. This is going to very seriously impact my work flow.There has to be some kind of mistake. I've looked for a way to set the default window size, but to no avail. I've searched the web for 3rd party plugins that would let me have more control over the IDE, but also to no avail.Is there some way to set the default window size in Visual Studio 2008? It would seem remarkably amateurish to not provide this extremely basic functionality.

The reported size is 10. Can someone explain the difference here? My hunch is that VB6 is using a .75 step because my system is configured at 96 DPI, and .NET is not using said step, or not reporting its usage, but I'm not sure.
How can a TextBox or RichTextBox buffer size be set? I have data that goes to a TextBox continuously, but I want to set a maximum size of buffer for the TextBox. Then, it reads the webservice output (for each statement), parses it for a specific string, builds a 'get'statement and submits the 'get' to the webservice (for each file).Then, the application reads the 'get' output stream and writes a file (to the local file system) for each file that was submitted, using a streamwriter.I have encountered an issue where some files are unable to be written to the local file system by the streamwriter.After much testing I have figured out that any file exceeding 4096 bytes will cause the application to hang where streamwriter should write the output to file.I have tried the syntax below to increase the size of the streamwriter buffer however, it doesn't seem to be working.I do need to mention that I am an extreme novice with VB or any other language and have, for the most part written this module from research and code samples.I should mention that this module does work for any file that is less than 4096 bytes in size.

The DefaultButton of 'pnlTmp' must be the ID of a control of type IButtonControl.
I have also tried setting the panels DefaultButton this way :

What i want to do is simple but at the same time complicated. I have multiple .PDF file and i want to print them all. Thing is, all the .PDF are in 8,5 X 11 paper size. The printer is also on this paper size by default and i want to print them in a different size. I want to change the default printer size programatically so it prints in the right format. I need to change this in the program because i need to print in a few different paper size.
