My app writes events to event log from time to time using below [code]...
Problem is this app is installed on multiple remote sites and form time to time the event log becomes full one or the other pc and app start to give error. Is there a way to set the Event Log, Log Size setting to 'Overwrite events as needed' via code so the event log never fills up?
How to make the form size automatic setting the size equals to the screen. or Maximize the whole form including the form components.

Then, it reads the webservice output (for each statement), parses it for a specific string, builds a 'get'statement and submits the 'get' to the webservice (for each file).Then, the application reads the 'get' output stream and writes a file (to the local file system) for each file that was submitted, using a streamwriter.I have encountered an issue where some files are unable to be written to the local file system by the streamwriter.After much testing I have figured out that any file exceeding 4096 bytes will cause the application to hang where streamwriter should write the output to file.I have tried the syntax below to increase the size of the streamwriter buffer however, it doesn't seem to be working.I do need to mention that I am an extreme novice with VB or any other language and have, for the most part written this module from research and code samples.I should mention that this module does work for any file that is less than 4096 bytes in size.

I am working on an application using vb 2008 express. I have built test programs over the past few weeks and shared them for feed back. Today when I finished some work, I built another test application, but when I install it the start-up screen maximizes but is set between one and two desktop icons from the top of the screen.
In debug mode it looks fine. In the past it looks fine. Each time I start the program the screen is in a slightly different location. It is set to start maximized and to the best of my knowledge, I did not change any settings in the property area. I have tried loading on three computers and the results are the same. Any ideas on what I could have done to produce this strange result?

What I cannot find is how to set the font, and font size. IntelliSense doesn't help. Everything is "read only", meaning retrieve a current value.

My problem is when I run report from Vb .net, Crystal report viewer showing correct preview for custom paper size but when I give print command it's print default printer paper size e.g. Letter size.

So I am playing around with the resize event. My form is 500 wide, my button.left is at 100. If I use:

The number in the texbox is correct - proportion wise, but it won't set the button1.Left to this number. I'm sure this is because int is a Double where .Left is an integer?
Im trying to create a diary system that on click event of the built in calander in vb.net opens the current diary entry for that day. i am using the my.settings variables to store the entrys the problems i am having is how to create a my.settings variable automaticly if one dosnt exist for that date (will be using the date of the clicked day as the name e.g. 10/5/2011)
So basicly i want the user to be able to click through the dates on the calander and the entry be displayed in a text box next to it, blank if nothing is there and the user can edit/save them after just need the code to auto create and i guess how to search the my.settings im quite new to using this storage, i normally use text files. the pic shows the program so far, it has one diary entry but it has no relation to the date. the label is linked to the calander also , displaying the selected date.

View 3 RepliesWindows forms Application. VB .NET 4.0 In my application I have a global boolean variable that keeps track of when changes are made and when they are saved called changesSaved. On closing even it checks the value of this variable before closing the window.. I am using textchanged event to automatically change the value of changesSaved to FALSE when text is changed.. Problem: The group box items are being populated dynamically so the user can edit the values or simply just view them. This dynamic population is causing the textchanged event to fire because the program is changing the text value of the box to put the values in that are stored in the database. The textchanged event should not fire unless the user him or herself enters a value or values in the text boxes..
Is there a way to specify the source i guess you could say for the text changed event or another way so that it will only fire when the user inputs information.??? Functions are as follows: The first is called by the load event to place the values in the box... The next one is the one that is being called as a result of the first one and is also the one that is causing the problems.

I cannot seem to get it to work in one code routine. I end up having to have a separate button to set the date after the page has loaded. I have tried all the blog posts using isbusy, timer etc but it does not seem to work. The code breaks and the error prompt says that id_pickupdate does not exist.
