IDE :: MSAccess 2003 Report Holds Table Lock Thru Close And Deactivate Events?
Jan 27, 2010
For speed, I've decided to use temporary tables as the recordsource for a report. The problem occurs when I try and tidy up after the report is closed by trying to drop the temp table. Trying to do this using database.execute "DROP TABLE x" where x is the name of the temp table. Get a Run-time 3211 error that the table still has locks. I figured that any locks generated by the report would be dropped at least by the Deactivate event, but that doesn't seem to be the case. how to use a temp table in the report withot incurring an enduring table lock? The report is the sole user.
I want to compress an ms access database using vb.net. If the database is open this fails. How can I close the database, compress it, then reopen the database using vb.net code to accomplish this. I've already successfully written the code for compression, but I can't find anything on closing the database while leaving ms access open.
This is a non-MDI windows application. I have a home form containing a panel named Panel1 and two buttons btnForm1 and btnForm2. Clicking btnForm1 and btnForm2 opens up Form1 and Form2 respectively in Panel1. Before a form is opened in Panel1, all opened forms in Panel1 are cleared. The code follows:[code...]
In which events should the above lines be written? In MDI apps this could have been accomplished by including them in Form_Activated and Form_Deactivate events respectively.
But here neither Activated nor Deactivate events fire when you open forms in frmHome.Panel1. Instead of Activated and Deactivate you can use Form_Load an Form_FormClosed events but they will only merge/unmerge menus if existing forms are closed before opening a new form in the panel.
But as I sometimes need forms to be opened and closed keeping existing forms opened, using these events won't fulfill the task. Even the GotFocus and LostFocus events won't work. So I want Activated and Deactivate events to be fired or some other means by which the menus and toolstrips can be merged/unmerged when the form gains/looses focus respectively.
I've made an app with vb 2010, which holds a mainform. On it is a menutoolstrip with button, when I click on that button a second form is opened on a second monitor and the button is being checked (different color).
When I click the button again, it is unchecked, but the form on the second monitor is still open, while it should be closed.
When i pass the parameter and run the report it works fine as i close the form it closes the form is there any way so that i should be able to close the crystal report viewer and pass the parameter again and should be able to view report again.
I am developing an dictionary application suppose I am selecting a word from the combo box and I wished to show the meaning of the corresponding word in the multilined textbox.
i want to transfer data from datagridview to msaccess table...but there is something wrong in this code.. im not finding a way to do that Try Dim MyConnection As System.Data.OleDb.OleDbConnection Dim q As String Dim cmd As OleDbCommand[code]......
An unhandled exception of type 'System.InvalidOperationException' occurred in system.windows.forms.dllerror in line: dbAdp.Update(dbDset) in btnSave_Click, (elseif editflag = true) blockdescription: Update unable to find TableMapping['Table'] or DataTable 'Table'I was also wondering if I could simply use the ExecuteNonQuery for the delete statement, but since I've placed my data in a datarow, I'm not sure if i can actually use it. Any thoughts on this? Btw, this is my first time using a datarow, and I've recently been studying how to use ADO.net.
dr = dbDset.Tables(0).Rows(CurIndex) dr.Delete() dbAdp.Update(dbDset.Tables("addresses"))
I'm trying to insert and update from a table in MSAccess I've declared everything: Connection, DataAdapter and Commands.I didn't use the Command Builder instead I supplied my own Queries. My problem is if I add three rows to my table all the three rows in my database have the same values from the first row. It seems like the parameters are stuck on the values from the first row. [code] I'm using a DataTable with my DataAdapter since I'm dealing with a single table.I'm filling the table with a parametrized query, and updating it with the same dataadapter.I'm adding rows to my datatable and manipulating the table through code. I know that my data is there and every row has it's own values, I can see them when I debug my program.
I am trying to export the contents of Array to Microsoft Access table. But as of now i could do it via creating a text file in the local HDD. I would like to find a solution bypassing this step.
I'm having a problem with my crystal report with regards to report footer. I want to display the data from the table, column name "Remarks" in report footer but when I try to call the data it doesn't show the remarks. I'm using VB 6 and mdb files as my back end. Is there any command or fundamental that I've missed?
I used following code searching records from a table in MsAccess and displaying in a Listview and it is working fine with the search criteria based on Discription.
CODE:
I also tried the above code to search records on the base of CustId and it worked fine too.My table DailyTransaction in MsAccess is as under:DTDate, DTTime, CustId, Description, Quantity, Price, Amount, AccountNumber, Name
Now I want to Search records on the base of Date I tried the following but it did not work.
Dim cmdText As String = "SELECT * FROM DailyTransaction WHERE DTDate=' " & TextBox1.Text & " ' "
Also i want to make following sort of query to retrieve data between two dates and to display the sum of amount group by DTDate. I could sketch following query and deifinitely it is so wrong with Syntex.Select * From DailyTransaction where DTDate Between textbox1.text AND textbox2.text Group By DTDate AND SUM(Amount)
I created the windows application with Crystal Report 9.0 in .net 2003. While Deploying the Setup file I created the Merge Modules. I installed .net Framework 1.1 in that user system. After that i installed the Setup File.
1. I have to select the next invoice number from one table.
2. Then i have to insert this invoice number as it is in three other tables.
3. Then once i have done so i have to go and update the invoice number by +1 (increment by
1). And i have to do this for each row in the datatable.
During this whole period i do not want anyone to access (read or change) that invoice number. We can lock the table or row. Does not matter. How can i do it? I am not suppose to use store procedure. Lock table ... does not work. It is not an T-SQL stmet select invoice number with (readlock) ....... only works while this stement is runned. I want to have the table or row locked until i have done 1,2 and 3rd steps. I have seaching for a stamt in sql which will do this for me! But didnt find anything. All results point me to SP which i cannot use.
I am looking to prompt the user to save data when they close a form window in a winforms application. I can't figure out how to trigger the prompt to the user, should they click the red box at the top right corner of the form.
My application currently has a boolean flag, that is set to True on textchanged event. So I will only need to check for the boolean value in whatever event is trigger by the red box.
The problem I'm having is with the .close() event. Basically I've created the below code to prompt the user when closing the form they are currently viewing.
Private Sub Form_closed(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.ComponentModel.CancelEventArgs) Handles MyBase.FormClosing If MessageBox.Show("Do you wish to exit?", "Program Name", MessageBoxButtons.YesNo) =
I have a process that is a detail/Master issue. I read (into a dataset) my detail record based on several keys. Then I have to read each master record..check some fields/update some fields and then update that master. Detail is not changed. First.. How do I not lock the detail table during my select?
However, there is one problem with it... whenever I open a file and change stuff, then close it without saving the changes, the events still fire. I am opening excel workbooks in code, then use xlsWB.Close(SaveChanges:=False) to close them, and the event still fires, where the file isn't really changed so it should not fire.
I am trying to close my application and I have coded on the form closing, form closed events to call an exit form which asks the user for confirmation to exit or not. All works fine. When I press the X button on the winform things act different. On the main form where I press the X btn I store some user ID data that I use throughout the app. If I press cancel on the exit form that data is lost from the main form and cannot be used afterwards. So if the user pressed by mistake the X btn and then presses cancel on the exit form the application loses some stored data and many functions stop working.
I'm having a problem inserting a new record into an Access 2003 table. The error occures at the line near the bottom with "ExecuteNonQuery()".scroll down in the second block of code.
Within the Incident Information Table
IncidentID is Text
InvStartDate is Short Date
IncidentDate is Short Date
Here is the code.
Public Class NewGeneralIncidentForm Dim conn As New OleDbConnection Dim incIdString As String = "0"[code]....
In order to evaluate an indexed property, the property must be qualified and the arguments must be explicitly supplied by the user.
I am using vb2008 express to work an Access 2003 database. I want to use code to delete the table after I have used it and before I close the program. Is there any code to accomplishg this?
