I have a VB solution in Visual Studio 2010 which is a year or so old. In the last couple of months a very strange thing has started happening - when I open the solution, it starts debugging immediately. Has anyone got any idea why this might be happening and how it can be prevented as its really annoying?

View 1 Repliesi need to open a form (loginform1.vb) when the program starts. i do not want this form to be able to be closed, as it will be used as a login for the form. i have already tried loginform1.show() but this is able to be exited, and it is started in the background.

It gives ne this error -"This project (xxx.sln) cannot be opened from source control because it was created by a version of Microsoft Visual Studio that is incompatible with this one.If this is the case, you may be able to open it from source control using that version of Microsoft Visual Studio, and then use Microsoft Visual Studio to open the local copy."

(1) Open the solution in the Visual Studio IDE.
(2) On the <B>Analyze</B> menu, click <B>Launch Performance Wizard</B>.
(3) From the <B>Which of the following available targets would you like to profile?</B> drop-down list, select the name of the application that you want to profile, and then click <B>Next</B>. You can add more binaries later.
(4) Accept the default Sampling profiling method, and then click Next.
(5) Click <B>Finish</B>.
Only problem is that there is no <B>Analyze</B> menu in the IDE.
I have created a Form, added a MenuStrip to it and inserted the standard Items. My question is that I know some of the options won't work like 'Save' and 'Save As' but how do you make ones like 'Open' 'Exit' 'Undo' and Redo' work when start debugging?

View 4 RepliesI'm having to write a reporting application that gets information from some Interbase servers and it also has to work on Vista as well as XP, I'm using to connect Borlands Data Provider.[code]My Issue is that debugging on my xp Machine the dataset gets filled, debugging on my vista box it fails ("Interbase provider initialization failed"), my initial thought was that this could be UAC related but I've compiled the application and 'ran as admin' and still same issue. (by the way it failes on the line Dim da as BdpDataAdapter...)

I am running a simple test app that opens an OLEDB connection, retrieves a single value, then closes. The compiled (console) app works fine, but running it from the IDE causes either a silent close (if it's a winforms app) or a crash of vshost32.exe if it's a console app.
The devenv is VB 2010 Express on Windows x64, but I have the configuration manager on the solution set to "Debug" - "x86".

It is saved on my desktop for easy access.I can close the program. I can click the solution to open it right back up, no problems.I then zip my file (also to the desktop)
My problem: I moved the original file (Project A) to another folder and extracted the unzipped Project A onto the desktop. When I open the new Project A's solution file, nothing happens besides VB starting up. It doesn't show me anything.
I have been trying to open a solution file downloaded from my class for the past two days. When I open the assignment file on my destop to access the solution file, it's not there. I have the variables design, obj, bin, and others but not the .sln file which is the one that I need. How can I fix that problem?
View 2 RepliesI have read a lot of the prior questions/answers on this topic but it only took me so far. I have a solution to which I added 2 additional programs. These 2 added programs in essence create a PDF2TIFF converter using GS. I wish to call that form and use it as a utility from my main program. After reading other answers in the forum, I added these two programs as references in the main program and imported everything available, into the main program. I have what seems to be a correct build order set up. I want to open the form in the utility project(s) from a link on my main form. I tried a few things but the only way I could write the code without errors was to instantiate the second program then call that with a button click.

For some time ago i have notice that my App on every start make a call to csc.exe and starts it. I know for sure that that did not happened before and I can not find out why this is happening now, or better to say: what did I do in code to make this happened? I have google-it and found out that csc.exe is some kind off on-the-fly compiler for C# (If I understand it correctly ) but my App is in VB.net so I am a bit confused. Can someone explain it to me in general what have I did in my VB.NET code to make my App on every start calls csc.exe?

Also i have a checkbox on my form , how can i have it that if its checked before i close the application it will open up next time in start up windows , if its unchecked before i close it wont startup when windows starts ?
the issue is that customactions class in my VB 2010 code, correctly configured, does not start the program after installation, neither sets the autorun, it seems that subroutine OnAfterInstall isn't invoked at all.
Note that process termination before installation (for upgrading purpose) eventually works.

I am making an auto login program, and what i am trying to do is have it so when you press a button (button1) it will start the web browser sub. I have to have the code for the login in the web browser sub because otherwise it wont work. But I want it so that the button will start the code in that sub.

In some applications, like taskkill.exe you can send info to the app when it starts up. By that i mean taskkill.exe /f /im 123.exe.... how do i make my VB.NET app read that info on startup so i get it in a string like this "/f /im 123.exe". I have absolutly no idea what this is named,so thats why im asking here.

I can get the collection of selected rows but I cannot find a way to determine which is the first selected row. E.g. the table has 20 rows, the user selects rows 3,4,5,6 using the mouse on the rowheaders.How can I determine that the selection starts at row 3?
