And here I am with a new problem in my program When I debug it everything works fine (the buttons, progressbars, pinger, spambot, When I compile it and run the Executable file, it works too.When I run the Executable file on another computer (tried on 4 different ones) the program stops working and
I get this error:

I am having issues with my program. It should update every time i click the button, but it runs through perfectly on the first click, after the first click it does nothing.This is a UDP Program, where the client sends a packet with a sequence number and payload which are separate items in the packet. The server receives the packet, reads the sequence number, and then sends back the next sequence number the client should send.The client then receives that from the server with the same payload.. And then should change its sequence number to the one it recieved, and send that to the server..The client works up to where the client updates to the sequence number it receives from the server.. But both show no effect on any clicks after.

I'm having trouble getting my archive service working. The service counts files in a directory and sends a email. Pretty simple. However, it randomly stops working. I debugged the service and found nothing wrong. I also have it writing to the eventlog so that I can use it to determine where it fails It progresses through each function normally. I thought my program was failing at on point, because it was only posting "Email Notification Service is Running". However, I realized it wasn't posting to the eventlog source so I've been playing around with different ways to post the message to the eventlog. Am I missing something from my code below? I'm really scratching my head with this one.

Has anyone used a system wide hotkey and notice it no longer works? But the program is still running fine. When I run my program and it starts the hotkey, sometimes it will work fine all day, other times within 15 minutes I press the keys and the program does not react to it. On programming assignment without having any real experience in vb. I guess I don't understand subroutines that well. I im trying to set a time so that the user of my quiz has to do their 20 questions in 40 minutes. i actually have a few questions about the timer. How do you make it so that you canrun this same timer over everyform and then make it stop on the last form? is it possible for you to convert the timer so that instead of it running in milliseconds it runs in minutes?

I've been working on this application for a few days now, and have had people beta testing it day by day. well last night I did a pretty big update on it, and release the beta to a few people, all with different architectures and other devices, and now it wont run on any of there computers. It begins to load, and then just closes. No errors, hanging, or overflow. the max it gets at in ram usage is 27k. No windows load either. They only thing that is a reference is the itunes sdk, which hasnt changed since I started making this app. I've checked the form load, and nothing there is causing it to end. I even commented out all the code I added last night, and still nothing.

I wrote a simple auto login script to update my IP address on a certain website. Something really strange is happening now though. The first time I run the program, nothing happens. However, the second time I run the program, that instance will work fine. Then I look in task manager, and the first program is still running, using a whopping 50% of my CPU. I believe VB may be blocking off memory or something, as when two instances are running each is using around 25% of CPU. Then after the second one successfully completes, the first starts to use 50% again.

VB 2008 Express. I write a program designed for interacting with an Android phone that is hooked up to a Windows machine. One of the tools in my program is a utility designed to assist the user root their phone. Now in order to root it goes through a command line utility called adb which lets you access a terminal on the phone. It must then type commands in that terminal. Most processes that this program does can be done through a batch file, however rooting the phone isn't one of them. The reason being once it actually logs in to the phone's shell, it stops running commands because it just gets stuck on that line, waiting for it to finish.
So despite being a little primitive I designed that part of my application to use sendkeys. So the way it should work is:
1) It launches powershell as an administrator
2) Types the following commands (I have abbreviated the number of commands it types for the sake of this board. There's actually about 20 lines total):

SendKeys.SendWait("cat /system/bin/sh > /system/bin/su{ENTER}")

Now it seems that for 90% of users, this works perfectly fine. However for a small group of people, this is what actually gets typed in to the powershell window:

For the people that have this happen to them, it's always the exact same thing. It's like it completely skips all letters until it gets to a special character. I have no clue what could be causing this. The only thing I have found was that sendkeys wasn't totally supported but that running it as administrator would fix that, which is why I now have it run as admin. But that didn't work. I also had some success by using powershell instead of cmd, but it's still failing for a small number of people.
Every other part of the program works perfect except for this. I haven't found any common element between the people that it is failing on. They aren't running the same anti-virus or the same programs. I program and debug on Windows 7 64 bit, yet someone else can run it on the same OS and it won't type it out properly. Is there something better that I could be using instead of sendkeys?

I've written approx 4 projects that utilize a central DLL for database access. The DLL was written in VB.NET using the .NET 3.1 framework. All the code works great. Recently, I went through all the code and updated the connection strings to use a new username and password since they were using the SA account on SQL Server 2005. After recompiling and uploading the DLL to the web server, I disabled the SA account. All of a sudden, the DLL stopped working. It just stopped. I know that the code is ok because I copied it into a aspx file and it worked. I had to re-enable the SA account in order to get things back to normal, but I really would like to eventually disable it.

The error is: Object reference not set to an instance of an object." If I was to declare the variables inside each event handler, the program runs, but why won't it run when I make the scope public? I have two forms frmA, frmB. I have a listview on frmA with a couple items with tags. In the listviews Itemactivate event I get the FocusedItem's tag and open frmB. Everything works fine until I close frmB and come back to frmA. The original item is still selected but the Itemactivate no longer opens frmB. I can step right into the frmB.Show line on frmA, it's just that frmB nevers shows.

If you do a search for "ie8 back button disabled" you'll see a number of blogs with people having difficulties with the Internet Explorer version 8 back button becoming disabled. This now happened to one of my ASP .Net pages. The page uses a user control, aspx page, and a master page. It uses no redirects and seems to be happening when I click the back button and then the forward button (after the forward button is clicked, it does not fire the Load event and the back button becomes disabled).

I have an application I run on a netbook that is folded up inside a robot.Occasionally, something from the system tray will pop up unexpectedly. This removes the focus from my application I also thought there was a way (in forms properties in the vb6 days) that would allow to "run when minimized"? I cannot get the VB monthcalendar control to obey any of the properties I set for it, or the commands I give it programatically. It works (sort of - but with obvious bugs) in the state it arrives when copied to a new form straight out of the toolbox, eg when I click on a date etc, however if I set the background colour in Properties (or programatically), or try to change the BoldedDates programatically (as per numerous examples I have found) it ignores me!
I can create a brand new project, new form, add the monthcalendar out of the toolbox, change its properties in the Properties window, & when I run it the changed properties (eg background colour) are totally ignored.

First of all i want to say i feel very rude as my current posts only consist of me asking questions and never posting to give answers. im still learning and do not want to give people diff advice and sending them down the wrong path.I am doing an assignment for my vb.net course and im having a problem with tabcontrol. I originally didnt do my code inside a tab control. Then i had to copy all the code and button etc over to the tab control then the code completely stopped working. I copied the code then deleted it and pasted it back into my project and it worked again. But it seems everytime i restart my laptop the code stops functioning and i need to copy delete then paste to get it working again!I need to hand this assignment in shortly and i dont want to if my code is working intermittantly..

I've been working on a program that generates a batch file, then when you press a button, it executes that batch file. There are multiple batch files attached to each item in the list box.

The only thing that it does when I press the button, is starts the batch file, then goes to function searchtitle, which executes the batch file again when it finds out it didn't work properly.The button text doesn't change, none of the items are being added to my first list box, and I can't do anything to the window after pressing the button. It constantly opens the batch file every 5 seconds or so.
