IDE :: When Open A Visual Basics Program On Another Computer (Vista) It Says "IP Finder Stopped Working"
Jul 17, 2011
The program i made is an IP Finder. it uses MS WinSock, so i thought that would be the problem. I have already installed the powerpack and i got another program i made working
I am getting the following message in VS 2005 Standard Edition using VB for a Windows Form Application:Microsoft (R) Visual Basic Compiler has Stopped Working.A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.<Debug> <Close Program>Clicking on either Debug or Close Program shuts down Visual Studio.Happens when pasting code from 1 form into another. Seems random but usually about 5-7 pastes or every 10-15 minutes.I have looked at FIX: The Visual Studio 2005 IDE may randomly crash when you build a Visual Basic .NET solution (Article 942124) but it states this should happen when doing a Build or Rebuild. The Workaround says:To work around this problem, use the whole project as the reference. What exactly does this mean and how would I do this?Installed Products:

Assume a grocery store approached you to write a simple program that calculates total sales of purchases. The program should accept item costs as input, calculate the tax on each item (8%), then display the item cost, total cost, and total after taxes. Item costs will be added to a listbox while the total without the taxes will be displayed in a label, the tax amount in another label, and finally, the total cost (items cost + tax) in a third label. this is the problem I have to program for,
Program written and tested on XP x86 and then attempted to run it on windows 7 x86, but it just gives me the error '***** has stopped working'.I have checked it is being built for the correct platform (x86) and Win 7 has .Net framework 4 installed so i'm at a loss as to why it won't run. Some programs i've written work fine, some just crash.[code]
I have put a ton of effort into my new project, and I have saved the coding and designer part. I never did publish it, and when I came back to open it later to work on it, I can't seem to get to the screen that allows you to move items, and edit the looks of the project. I have to files that say RSEB.Designer.vb and RSEB.Vb - So how do I open the screen that allows me to edit the damn project?
I have a simple executor that when clicked, opens the CD tray.[code]On my computer it works fine but on another computer, it only opens the CD tray if there is no disk in it.[code]
I have a VB 2008 program which intermittently causes Windows 7 to decide that it has "stopped working" and the only option is to close and restart it.What does this message really mean? The program's main thread is still running OK, because I can see it updating its window, so I assume one of the other threads had done something to cause the message, but how do I debug what that may be?
I'm trying to create a simple example of an editable gridview, and for some reason can't seem to get the basics working. Why is this example not displaying the label Bar and a textbox when I click on "edit"?
how to create a comparison statement for a record that I have placed in a column of a SQL Database. In other words, I have a 2- forms, the first form is where the enduser places a few record requirements along with 4-digit number followed by the submission of a registration. After the registraions is submited, I have it coded to where the registration gets saved along with the 4-digit number into the database followed by a second form appearing. Ok, here comes the problem: When the user exits the applaication and then restarts the application again, the first form apears although it is not necessary since the enduser had already registered.
So, how do I or what kind of comparison statement can I create that will let visual basics or the first form know that the registration was completed and force the second form to appear instead or first?I would liked to makes some type of comparison with the 4-digit number thats in located in the SQL database.
I want to make a program that will sync two folders together with the command in cmd called xcopy, so when i click on a sync logo the folders sync. But i want the user to be able to browse for the locations then set the locations as they sync folders. I already have linked two FolderBrowserDialogs to two textboxes so when i select a folder in the browser the directory shows in the text box. But then how do i put the two directories into the xcopy command? This is what i have done so far...
All, I have a Custom object which I have written using VB.NET (.net 2.0). The object instantiates its own threading.timer object and carries out a number of background process including periodic interrogation of an oracle database and delivery of emails via smtp according to data detected in the database. The following is the code implemented in the windows service class [Code].
After a little bit of experimentation I arrived at the above code in the OnStart method. All functionality passed testing when deployed from VS2005 on my development PC, however when deployed on a true target machine, the service would not start and responds with the following message: "The service on local computer started and then stopped..." Am I going about this the correct way? If not how can I best implement my incident manager within the confines of the Windows Service class. It seems pointless to implement a timer for the incident-manager because this already implements its own timer.
And here I am with a new problem in my program When I debug it everything works fine (the buttons, progressbars, pinger, spambot, When I compile it and run the Executable file, it works too. When I run the Executable file on another computer (tried on 4 different ones) the program stops working and I get this error:
{$ exception. "Failed to create the form For more information, see Exception.InnerException error: File or assembly ." Microsoft.VisualBasic.PowerPacks, Version = 9.0.0.0, Culture = neutral, PublicKeyToken = b03f5f7f11d50a3a "or one of its dependencies not found. The system can not find the file specified .."} System.Exception {System.InvalidOperationException}
I have a program that needs to access the files that are open by another program on the computer. When my application comes up I can easily see if the other application is running with the .net Process.GetProcessesByName method
Dim MyProcesses() as Process = GetProcessesByName("AnApplication") For Each Instance as Process in MyProcesses If MsgBox("application is running - do you want to end it?", MsgBoxStyle.YesNo or MsgBoxStyle.Question, "Warning") = MsgBoxResult.Yes then
[code].....
The problem is that the Instance.Kill does not allow the application to end gracefully. In VB6 you could use the SendMessage API to send a close message to the application and it would end gracefully - i.e. give the user the normal closing prompt. This just slays the application - leaving any open files in their potentially incomplete state, etc.
I have been developing this VB application for some time now in Visual Studio 2008. I have created datasets, ran into problems, reinstalled them, etc. and have been able to resume work with my application. Just recently, the datasets have completely stopped working meaning no data is pulled from the SQL server. I have tried recreating the datasets with no luck. When I create a new label and try to simply associate it to a SQL field through the properties of the label, Databindings... Text (to pull in the value of the field to this label), when I run the program, it does not pull the data. None of the datasets work. I have checked the code and designer and tried to compare it to my old version and everything looks fine.
my program connect to Access DataBase 2003 ! in my computer every thing be ok !but in other pc my program can not open on show this message :
my OS is 7!my VS version is 2010 and it is my connection string : "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=" + My.Application.Info.DirectoryPath + "my_db.mdb" where is my problem ?
I keep getting an error that says hte application has stopped working and Windows is searching for a solution. When I click to debug, it tries to start a new instance of VB, but then tells me that a debugger is already running. Why is this happening?
The error is a uncaught Win32 exception and occurs somewhere inside a thread that I create, but I have no idea where.
i tried updating my application on a vista home basic laptop. i get "myapp.exe has stopped working" then i restore back to the old version, it still give the same error. I am sure the old version is working because I tested it before updating it.
What happend to my Intellisense? When I type a line like this ...
Dim users = (From u In Membership.GetAllUsers Select u.UserName)
I get (almost) no Intellisense when I get to the Select u. part. Only Equals, GetHashCode, GetType, ReferenceEquals and ToString appears. Not "UserName" and the other relevant propeties of the MembershipUser class. The code compiles and works just fine.
why break points might stop working? It's seems to have happened suddenly for all my ASP.NET projects in VS 2003 and VS 2005. all the debug options are still on, and it seems to be for all my projects anyways, not just one.
I opened an older project and it works fine. Using syntax: debug.print ("OK") and look for printed line in immediate window. Is there some setting I could have inadvertently disabled or have maybe discluded some imports? Only import is forms.
I was using visual studio to program and deploy an application to pocket pc for the past week when all of the sudden the deploy stopped working. What happens is that I right click to deploy >> the menu asking me if I want to deploy to a device or emulator comes up and I select a device. In the past I could see in the status bar all the files that were being sent and about a minute later it said that it was successful. Now, it says deploy successful after about 1 second and nothing is sent to the device.

All of a sudden I cant highlight text or anything in the IDE. Dragging the mouse with left burron down does nothing. It works in Word and on this page. Any pointers?
I've just added a load more image files, bringing the total up to 108.When the program reaches this point, (above) it fails with a 'Can't find File' error.I've tried many times to reload the image files, set all their 'Build action' to 'Embedded Resource' but I'm not at all sure it's doing it. I get an error message saying 'Corrupt .resources file'. but I've opened all the files in Paint Shop Pro without a problem.I'd be surprised if there's an upper limit to the number of image files I can put in the resources file, but not as few as 108 surely ! Most of the image files are between 100 - 350 Kb but 16 are about 1,250 Kb?
