Visual Basics And SQL Database Compare?
Feb 22, 2012how to create a comparison statement for a record that I have placed in a column of a SQL Database. In other words, I have a 2- forms, the first form is where the enduser places a few record requirements along with 4-digit number followed by the submission of a registration. After the registraions is submited, I have it coded to where the registration gets saved along with the 4-digit number into the database followed by a second form appearing. Ok, here comes the problem: When the user exits the applaication and then restarts the application again, the first form apears although it is not necessary since the enduser had already registered.
So, how do I or what kind of comparison statement can I create that will let visual basics or the first form know that the registration was completed and force the second form to appear instead or first?I would liked to makes some type of comparison with the 4-digit number thats in located in the SQL database.

Jul 20, 2010I want to make a program that will sync two folders together with the command in cmd called xcopy, so when i click on a sync logo the folders sync. But i want the user to be able to browse for the locations then set the locations as they sync folders. I already have linked two FolderBrowserDialogs to two textboxes so when i select a folder in the browser the directory shows in the text box. But then how do i put the two directories into the xcopy command? This is what i have done so far...

Apr 11, 2011I need to submit a project tomorrow, and the topic is WPF using XAML. We are using VB by the way. Now I am still a beginner at programming, so I needed help. I've got a ton of WPF and blend tutorials open in tabs in my browser, but I have no idea where to start, and no idea for a project. I asked my tutor and he said he'll be checking our understanding of XAML, and creating an object using XAML as well as the other way round.
I stumbled onto some tutorials of media players main in WPF, and I decided to go with it. But because I have never used blend or WPF along with XAML before, I don't know what to do, if say I make a button in blend with effects, so that I may add coding behind it in VB. Please help me out. The error on Windows 7 and vista says "application has stopped working" and then makes me close the error box. In windows xp it's a little different error, "the application failed to operate (0xc0000135) Click on OK to terminate the application."

A VS05 Web Application has a References folder in the Solution Explorer where you can select a reference and view its properties, such as CopyLocal, in the Properties window.But a VS05 Web Site only has a References folder in the Class View, where you can't access any properties for the references. May 4, 2012I'm creating a new website in Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate / vb and I want to add things to it, to jazz it up. So I'm adding new projects from the VS online templates. It seems there are many more projects in c# than vb. I'm trying to figure out if it's okay to add a c# and razor project to a vb website, because if not, I'll start the website in c#.
Will mixing languages between projects within your website present issues in the future when it comes time to build and publish? Or is it recommended I begin the website in c# (since there are more projects within VS) and keep the languages the same throughout the website?

Oct 10, 2009I'm trying to add a reference to the GAC version of System.Xml in a Visual Studio 2008 web site project. I right-click the project icon in the Solution Explorer, and click Property Pages. Under the References tree option, I click the 'Add' button on the right. I navigate to System.Xml in the .NET tab, and double click it (the Path it lists for System.Xml, C:WINDOWSMicrosoft.NETFrameworkv2.0.50727System.XML.dll, DOES exist). The dialog disappears, but... System.Xml does not get added as a reference! The list just stays the same.

I expected a line from the top left conner to the bottm right corner. NO NO NO it fell short on the x(width) axis. I do not know who came up with drawing in boxes, but I HATE IT.

I started out by retrieving the html code before i realised that as it is live data, the html code will be of little use. Although i am looking to capture specific data, all i wish to do is process a webpage that i specify which will return the text off that website and not the HTML code.

I want to program the combo box so that if a user opens it and clicks on "Web Browser", that form with the combo box will close and the web browser that I made will open. Another example is that if a user selects "Media Player" from that combo box, the form with the combo box will close and the media player that I made will open. How would I program the combo box to do this?

Aug 16, 2011when closing the form, checkchanges() is run in order to check if there is data changes..in checkchanges(), i compare data in database and form..if data in form is not same as in database, it consider data has been changed..thus, if there is changes, user will be promt to save data before close..the problem is, when my form is closing, the checkchanges() always show no changes, even when i made changes..this is because, when data is compared (between database and form), the form is already commit changes in database..that is why , when data is compared, it is actually compare the same value...
For example:
*when form load*
database: employee number = 1009
textbox: employee number = 1009
[CODE]...
That is why checkchanges() always show no changes.because it commit changes to database before it made comparison..what should i do to prevent from commit changes when form is closing?
