I have a copy Oracle 11g which is now fully installed. Will it work with Visual Basic Express 2008 or just Visual Studio 2008 Professional? I have both Visual Basic Express 2008 and Visual Studio 2008 Professional. I really would like to know if it works with Visual Basic Express 2008.
This has to be really simple and I am completely missing the boat. I have a VB2008 express windows forms project with several forms and an access database that I work on here at work. I want to copy it to a thumb drive and take it home and work on it there, then bring it back, etc.

I'm trying to copy a file to a remote computer using the IO.File.Copy method. When I attempt to copy the file, the method throws an UnauthorizedAccessException exception, which is understandable because I am not able to supply logon credentials. My question is: I have the logon credentials (Computer name, username, password) so how can I copy the file to the remote system without resorting to an overkill API call (namely WNetUseConnection)?
What I tried was using My.Computer.Network.DownloadFile(), and created a shared folder in the other computer to do downloading stuff. But, in fact I didn't know how to fill the path to the other computer, the error was: "...path not supported..."
How about this: ServerName1 = cmbServerName1.Text.Trim() database = cmbDataBase1.Text

When i try to cennect directly from the other machine (using run...), all works fine, even with a test program.
I will be working with another programmer today. He is just installing VB 2010 Express this morning on his computer. My question is how do I copy some of my projects over to his computer. Will copying the folder(s) under C:Documents and SettingsMy_User_NameMy DocumentsVisual Studio 2010 Projects.. be sufficient or will there be other support files I need to copy as well?
I've managed to produce a simple project in vb 2010 express and to publish it onto a cd. I can install the project from the cd and run it successfully on my windows 7 machine where I developed it but trying to install it onto a windows xp machine produces the message:
"An error occurred while downloading a required file...
Next question.Does VB 2010 express support the my.computer etc. syntax? If so what do I have to do to use it? It appears to offer a pretty easy way to use FTP.
I get an UnauthorizedAccessException with the following message: "Access to the path ... is denied."In .NET, how do I copy a file from a remote computer that requires authentication to my local machine? I understand that I'm going to need to supply a username and password in some fashion, but I don't know how to supply that information via an API in .NET.
I'm using System.Management.ManagementScope to connect to a remote computer and install an MSI package. This works great if the MSI is located on the remote computer, but it fails if I try to use a network location to run the MSI from. The UNC path is correct because if I manually type it from the remote computer it runs fine. There must be a limitation (security I'm thinking) that prevents things from running via WMI if the exe isn't local to the remote machine. My last hope will be to copy the MSI from the network location, store it locally on the remote computer, then run it - but I'd really rather not have to do that.
TextBox3.Text = "" WebBrowser1.Document.ExecCommand("Copy", False, vbNull) TextBox3.Paste() TextBox1.Text += TextBox3.Text & vbCrLf & vbCrLf 'This code just adds the pasted text from one textbox to another.

Firstly, I have the utmost respect for programmers & IT professionals. I'm a newby/wanna-be. I'm looking for help on developing a small program/script that helps me with the task I have detailed below. I am NOT submitting this as homework. This is work-related, but I'm NOT asking you to do my job. I'm taking this as an opportunity to learn more about programming by doing a task that I need done. I'm very interested in core concepts, steps, and your advice on how best to tackle this task (which tools, language, etc.)

I'm just using the default SQL Server Express in my vb 2008 express edition as my database server for my database operation. When I tried to update the records on my table I got a runtime error which indicates the error on this line 'myCommand.ExecuteNonQuery()'and it highlights a yellow background on it. The runtime error says "SqlException was unhandled: An expression of non-boolean type specified in a context where a condition is expected, near 'Number'. ".
Imports System.Data.SqlClient Private Sub Button3_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button3.Click Dim myConnection As New SqlConnection Dim myCommand As New SqlCommand
I tried to start using VB 2010 Express with a program I originally developed with VB 2005 Express that I moved to VB 2008 Express successfully a couple years ago. It uses a database file (*.mdf) that is on the computer ( not out on a server). When attempt to run the program in debug mode, I get the following error "An attempt to attach an auto-named database for file C:Documents and SettingsTomMy DocumentsQuizzing StuffQuestion Database 2010QuizQuest ionGameQuizQuestionGameinReleaseQuizQuestionDB.mdf failed. A database with the same name exists, or specified file cannot be opened, or it is located on UNC share."
I first made a copy of the entire project folder that was working in VB 2008 Express and gave it a different name. In VB2010 I opened the project in the copied folder and it said it successfully converted the project. I am able to open the Data Source inthe Designer and see the database structure as I expect. I think the project is still using SQL Server 2005 Express (because it is what is checked in the list of prerequisites on the Publish tab).
Note, I have programmed off and on for many years, but fairly new to using databases and SQL Server.
Here is the scoop: I am trying to make a user account SQL database work with Visual Basic 2008 Express for login purposes, i.e. usernames & passwords. Plan is to host this server so people can login to use the the application and verify they have a valid account. I would like to host all the account information in SQL due to the possiblity of hundreds of users at any given time. I also need the ability to add data to the database for users registering for the first time. The SQL server will need to be able to access the SQL Server databases remote via WAN.
I am trying to re write a VB6 program using MS Access, many years ago, using VB 2010 express and SQL server 2008 R2 Express. I have a database with several tables, which I created using the designer. I am able to connect to the database and select data and display it in textboxes etc in vb code. What I have not been able to in code is to INSERT rows DELETE rows or UPDATE any data in the tables. I can do any of these operations using the Query Designer, but I want to do it in code. I can post some code if necessiary, but I thought it might just be some property that I had not set in the designer.

The program I am trying to modify was initially written using VB 2005 Express. I have subsequently downloaded the 2008 version. The program creates a monthly spreadsheet from a template. The old code that will no longer (highlighted and underlined) compile is as follows:
