So how do I create a Word application from VB? I basically am going to set out a format, make a small table etc. and then whatever the user types in the textbox, it will appear in the slip. I am trying to create a small windows forms application that demonstrates how a user can use pen-based input(ona Lenovo X220 tablet PC) to enter text (rather than typing on a keyboard) I am using Visual Basic in Visual Studio 2010.I think the control I want to add to my Visual Basic Project is the Microsoft InkEdit ControlThe instructions I see on other parts of microsoft websites refer to a .net framework componed called InkEdit. The instructions I found so far is to right-mouse click on the tool box, click 'choose items' and then select the Inkedit Control from the .NET Framework components.

Create A Word Table?

Jan 27, 2010

I am using vb.net to create a Word table. Everything works fine, except that it is very slow. It takes about 0.34 seconds to create each cell in the table. I am using an HP machine with i7 processor and 12 GB of RAM. At 0.34 seconds per cell, times 7 columns, times 189 rows ~ 7.5 minutes to create a small table! I must be doing something wrong, but I have no idea what it could be. The table looks looks fine.

My code looks something like this:

oWord = DirectCast(CreateObject("Word.Application"), Word.Application)
oWord.Visible = False
oDoc = oWord.Documents.Add(ClsGUIGlobal.TIMBERSCHEDULEWORDTEMPLATEPATH)

Create A Table In Vb Express 2008?

Mar 28, 2009

I am trying to do a home project and after many hours of failing to complete what seems to be a simple process I have decided to ask for some help. None of the examples I have found on over 20 websites is complete or works as the author suggests. (Im sure because of version differences)

I want to make a Visual Basic Program that, by means of clicking on a radio button and then clicking on a button named "create" will add a blank table to my db named by the string variable connected to a listbox where this name can be first entered before clicking on button1. Can someone help guide me in the right direction? The table needs to have three columns; Col1, Col2, Col3 -my database is named "Database.sdf"

Form/Interface info radiobutton1 'an option that if selected = true in the button1 click event will process the data that creates the table. textbox1 'table name input button1 to create table 'to run the process combobox1 'shows available tables that exist in the db button2 'click event shows the combobox (table) in the datagridview window button3 to delete 'to delete the selected table button4 to reset 'to clear radio button choice,textbox1, and combobox1 datagridview1 'to veiw the selected table Note: if also possible I would like a datagridview of the new table on the same form after it has been created.I am using Visual Basic 2008 Express, It is a microsoft SQL Server Compatct 3.5 Database

Use Word To Create Files For Application?

Nov 8, 2010

I am in the process of writing a win forms desktop app in VB.net that employs user data in the form of rich text, stored internally as an object and then serialised to an XML file for persistent storage purposes.

To create the user data (the application's "document" it might be called), I have written a seperate app that tries to be a word processor and then saves the text in my XML format that can then be opened and used in the main app.

Is there a way I can use Word to do this? Perhaps by writing an add-in or template? Just to clarify, the format of the rich text would just be a table, I then need to save this in my XML format, or save the text as my object then serialize it to file.

Create A Table In Windows Form Application?

Jan 6, 2010

I want to create a table in my windows form application using VB.Net.

The table's rows and collumns are filled dynamically based on a selection in a drop down list. Each row in that table would have 2 textboxes, 1 combobox, 2 checkboxes, and 1 button.

I am aware of DataGridView and TableLayoutPanel -DataGridView - I do not like the appearance so I don't want to use it...Also it is not very flexible with checkboxes and buttons

TableLayoutPanel - Will involve many lines of code. Also handling the checkbox and button click events is not very flexible

Db Table - Create A Windows Form Application

May 9, 2010

Do i create a windows form application or which one do i choose? Here is the instructions. For this assignment, you will create a Visual Basic.NET application to manage personal assets. A screen shot of the desired UI is shown in the following image. You can also download a running example of the completed project and the required database, ITP400_IP2_A.mdb. be aware the example program does not necessarily demonstrate all of the functional requirements, and it is intended only as an example. You are responsible for meeting the listed requirements. Please refer to the following information for the complete requirements.

Requirements

* Fields in tblAssets (These are in the database table and should be displayed on the screen.)
o fldAssetID, long integer, primary key
o fldAssetName, string
o fldDescription, string
o fldDateAcquired, datetime
o fldCost, single

* Perform the appropriate steps to create a connection to the sample database. Be sure to select the option to copy the database to your project so it will be automatically included in the project.
* Perform the appropriate steps to display the detail view of the fields on your form. Be sure to include a functional BindingNavigator on your form.
* Do not allow the user to resize the form.
* Format the Cost field as currency.
* Add a standard pull-down menu to the program with the following structure:
o File (Save, Exit)
o Navigate (First Record, Previous Record, Next Record, Last Record)

I am building a VB 2008 Express Edition application.I have built a database (with a single table) using SQL Server Compact 3.5 and have connected it to the project. I am able to view and edit the data using a DataGridView on a second form (tutorial made this very easy). I need to work with the data in the table within the application. how to easily load the entire table into an array or even read the table a row or cell at a time so that I can make all of the data available for manipulation within the application (the tutorials only seem to show how to display the data).

VS 2008 Add The Word To A Text File And Create A Folder With The Word As Its Name?

Apr 25, 2009

The following code allows words to be added to a listbox. Add the word to a text file and create a folder with the word as its name. The second part undoes the actions.If I try to delete the word immediately after adding it one of two things happen.

1.An error is reported stating the path cannot be found. Although the listbox index value is correct according to the code the error is pointing at that index +1.

2.The code continues to the point of requesting conformation to delete the folder, still pointing at the index value +1. I the action is confirmed the wrong folder is deleted.

However if I stop debugging, then run the code again all works correctly.Is it likely to persist when the application is compiled?

Activating/setting Focus To Word Document Using Word Object In VB .Net 2010 Application?

Sep 19, 2011

We have an interactive windows based application written in VB .Net 2010. It uses Word Object to display documents in MS Word. We have a form with a button. When the button is clicked we open the Word document and maximize the Word Windowstate. When we have the Visual Studio Tool running, the Word Document is maximized and has focus, even if we are running the exe from the bin folder outside of the tool. However, if Visual Studio is not running and we run the exe, focus remains on the original form window and the document stays in the task bar.

Word Automation - Application - Gets Data Off Our Server With ODBC And Populates And Saves A Word Document

Jan 15, 2012

I have a VB.net application that gets data off our server with ODBC and populates and saves a Word Document. When I try to deploy it to another computer it will get the data just fine and populate the first document, but it will crash before saving it. I've installed the .net framework 4.0, Microsoft Data Access Components, and the Microsoft ODBC .net data Provider. The error code is 0xC0000005, which is from what I can see is called an "Access Violation Exception." It works fine on my computer.
