On form 1 , i have a number of buttons that open up different websites.What i want to do is when i click a button on form 1 , i want forum 2 to show ( Form2.show() ) , Form 2 will have a list (Buttons) of internet browsers.
View 4 RepliesI am trying to create a small form that will duplicate a users entry for them.On my form i have a text box and two CheckListBox controls and a button. The user should be able enter a value into the text box, and select multiple items from both CheckedListBoxes, when they click the submit button the details will be added to a DataGridView below.
This is an example,The user enters the value Audi A4 into the textbox.
The First Checked Lsit Box is called "Colour" and from the options the user checks 'Red' and 'Blue'.
The second Checked List Box is called "Number of Doors" and from the options the user checks '3' and '5'.
When the User clicks the submit button 4 rows will be added to the DataGridView with all the different combinations, as shown below:

I have two books about design patterns (GoF and J.Bishop) afair this pattern is indeed not mentioned inside one of the two books. I have also searched the internet I found some java-examples. But I have still no clue how I should use MVC-Pattern (should I?) in my new WPF-application.Let's say for example my model (in fact it is more complex) is only a wheel rim (circle) with the properties Manufacturer, Diameter and Depth. The user should be able to modify the properties using textboxes and ComboBoxes.Could somebody create a small example that explaines the MVC-Pattern with WPF?Of course I like reusable classes to have a feasible concept throughout the whole application.

View 1 RepliesI am a beginner on Visual Basic but was able to create the 'skeleton' of the application I need to build. Basically, it is an application dedicated to keeping a check on the vinyl I have. When I buy a new record, I want to effectively 'Add New Record' on Visual Basic and be greeted with a page consisting of various forms such as 'Artist' and Title'. Once these are filled in, I want to click 'Enter' and for all that information to be converted to one of the pages within my application.
Here's an easier look at it...
There are LPs that have 10" and 12" sections.
There are singles that have 7" and 12" sections.
In the 'Add New Record' page I want to also have a drop down list with the above elements in, once 12" LP is selected and all the other forms are filled in and I click 'Enter' - I want the application to send it to the 12" LP section of the application.

I'm trying to create a small paint component( similar to MSpaint but not the same thing) in vb.net.I have a panel that holds the background image and a picturebox over the panel that I draw on. I'm using graphics to draw shapes and I have my own custom double buffer, meaning that I draw on the picturebox while the mouse ismoving and on mouse up I draw the final image on the buffer image and on paint event the buffer image replaces the picturebox image.also, i have set the form properties to enable double buffering

my problem is that no matter what i've tried the picture box keeps flickering. as long as the mouse is moving, the paint event keeps getting called and the image flickers like crazy what i need is more ideas(or pseudocode) on how to avoid flickering.

Problem now is the Admins want direct access to add/remove different sites to the list.There is no way I am giving them access directly to my code (a bad day comes to mind).So I am attaching a small database with a small table to the server and allowing them to add URLS there. I am stuck in how to use this data though.I have tried pulling up the database column into a listbox but can not configure the code to check each line in listbox to compare to each browser window.
I also tried listed the items in a one column datagrid and try to loop through each row to compare each window.I need each browser window to be compared to a list of items and trigger events if a match is found.If your wondering why I am building this, our IS security people are all or nothing. I'm trying to create a small game in VB2010. The gameplay is as follows:
civilians would walk/stand in a room/street and suddenly an evil character would pop from the ground/wall. This evil character would suddenly vanishes too. So, the player has to shoot it to kill the character. The evil character, civilians, etc. would be random. Also, there would be sound effects too. That is the popping up of the evil character, it's voice, the civilians voice, etc. I'm trying to make it as simple as possible but without degrading the quality of the game play. I think, I could somewhat create the graphics for the characters, scenes, etc. and can get the sound effects recorded.
So, the difficult part is,[ ] how could I make it a smoother for playing the game ?
[ ] what would be the best way to do animations ?
[ ] Creating a GIF and placing it in the picturebox and moving it ?
[x]how to play the music in background and at the same time play sound effects on certain instance ?

View 11 RepliesI want to know how to start a forum hidden. I know I can just add Me.Hide() to the Window_Loaded event, But it's ugly. The user sees the form for a split second then it dissapears. I want to form to start up hidden. Little background on my program, it is a small taskbar application, Has a small notify icon. When the app is loaded. I only want the notify icon to be visible. I need help to form a code for a small arrays manipulation. The input data are known: they are two integers "N" and "s". An integer "N" is always divisible by 4.I need to create an array of "N" members, by repeating (N/4 times) this sub-array: 1,2,2,1 (always is the same). In the picture, this is shown in blue. Then I need to add the same array to the existing array, but shifted for "s" places (red array). The result is "yes" if each sum in new columns is always the same (3). Otherwise the result is "no." note there is no need to draw or display something (DGV, table ...). The required result is only "yes" or "no".

I have an application that uses Dataset.WriteXML to create a small backup before data is syncronized to a data store (less than a meg).This application has worked well for 5 years now, and all of a sudden with the installation of XML 6.0 SP2 the XML document is not working correctly.I have multiple tables within a Dataset (Company, Contact, Notes, etc...)When WriteXML is called, the first table should be Company, however, the first table is being named Contact with the Company Data in it. The Notes table is being called Contact and so forth. In other words it's not giving the correct names to the tables in the XML File.This appears to be a bug, which is causing great distress on all the companies who have been using this program.
