VS 2010 - Create A Small Game In VB2010 - Creating A GIF And Placing It In The Picturebox And Moving It
Aug 9, 2011
I'm trying to create a small game in VB2010. The gameplay is as follows:
civilians would walk/stand in a room/street and suddenly an evil character would pop from the ground/wall. This evil character would suddenly vanishes too. So, the player has to shoot it to kill the character. The evil character, civilians, etc. would be random. Also, there would be sound effects too. That is the popping up of the evil character, it's voice, the civilians voice, etc. I'm trying to make it as simple as possible but without degrading the quality of the game play. I think, I could somewhat create the graphics for the characters, scenes, etc. and can get the sound effects recorded.
So, the difficult part is,[ ] how could I make it a smoother for playing the game ?
[ ] what would be the best way to do animations ?
[ ] Creating a GIF and placing it in the picturebox and moving it ?
[x]how to play the music in background and at the same time play sound effects on certain instance ?
How do I go about doing this? I have currently made this code, but sometimes points are created on the boundaries of this picture box, which I do not want. I want all new random points to be within the bounds of this large playarea (picturebox). Foodarea is my big picturebox which i want all fruit to spawn WITHIN not outside on it's edges.
i am creating a shift rota system for a small number of staff basically there is a 3 week rota
week 1 - late week 2 - early week 3 - off
i am getting confused on how to calculate which week the member of staff is currently on eg week 1 / 2 / 3 i think i need a datediff with a mod to calculate it but thats where im getting confused (if im even right on that part)
So here is my problem. I have a vb game with animated sprites and all, and the character even jumps. However it only works in the y direction. So if i'm moving, he stops in place and jumps, instead of jumping forward. I was wondering if someone knew how to make him move at the same speed forward during the jump.
I'm doing a maze using VB10. its about moving a PictureBox between LineShape lines using buttons to move it. the problem is, can I make the picture not to move through the LineShape? if so how? or should I use something else other than the LineShape and another question can i save the progress of the maze and come back to it later? if so does it require using a database to save the location of the PictureBox?
I am required to make a game of concentration, whereby cards are shown for x amount of seconds and then truned over. The user then needs to remember where the cards were and pick two at a time in order to win points - whilst being timed.
Any pointers on where to start, or how to make a 2D control array of pictureboxes that can display the cards into a grid of (10x10) pictureboxes randomly?
All of them have no images. Now. I want to make an item editor for the game I'm playing. To edit the items, You have to place an ini file in the game's directory with the template below:
Quote:
[ItemSet1] SetName=Set1 RecItem1=1028
[Code]...
And untill 6 - what after the = is the item ID. Each item has a unique ID for it (I have a list containg each item name and their ID).
Now what I want to do is: I have a listview on the left with each character in the game Image and Text. I also have a listview on the bottom with all the imgaes of each item and each text for the item.
I want to make it so when the user double clicks an item from the listview, It will automatically add it to the first picturebox (If it's empty). He can choose any item to add to one of the 6 picturebox's, When it fills one after one. When all the picturebox's are full, nothing will happen.
Now what I want is: How can I determine which "item" the user chose and according to that assign the item's picture to the picturebox, and then make a new ini file to set picturebox1's image's ID to RecItem1, picturebox2's image's ID to RecItem2 - and so on.
i would like to get some ideas on how to connect computers to play a LAN game.. the deadline for this project will be on the 27th of march so.The game that i'll be making is a counter-strike-like 2d game.. is it possible that i can finish this project before its deadline?
On form 1 , i have a number of buttons that open up different websites. What i want to do is when i click a button on form 1 , i want forum 2 to show ( Form2.show() ) , Form 2 will have a list (Buttons) of internet browsers.
I am a beginner on Visual Basic but was able to create the 'skeleton' of the application I need to build. Basically, it is an application dedicated to keeping a check on the vinyl I have. When I buy a new record, I want to effectively 'Add New Record' on Visual Basic and be greeted with a page consisting of various forms such as 'Artist' and Title'. Once these are filled in, I want to click 'Enter' and for all that information to be converted to one of the pages within my application.
Here's an easier look at it... There are LPs that have 10" and 12" sections. There are singles that have 7" and 12" sections.
In the 'Add New Record' page I want to also have a drop down list with the above elements in, once 12" LP is selected and all the other forms are filled in and I click 'Enter' - I want the application to send it to the 12" LP section of the application.
I'm having a little trouble creating a game of pairs as a project.Basically I've got to the point where I can start a game, layout a bunch of cards in a grid, 6x6, and then have a way of matching the pairs together. First of all I used a For loop to assign the cards into a two dimensional array. They are pictureboxes however so when a user clicks on 2 cards, checking them to see if they match has become confusing. I've tried to stuff like this for example but it's not working: [code] This doesn't work because it can't compare the picture boxes stored to the array slot. Is there any clever person with a way around this? Or that can think of a way to compare them. The pictureboxes kinda need to stay like there though :/
I am currently creating a program to send keystokes to a program at certain intervals. I need the thread to delay between keystrokes, and i need to be able to have the user input the amount of delay from the GUI via textbox. I have it running perfect with Thread.Sleep(), but it just isn't consistent enough. How can I code it to be accurate to roughly 5ms up or down? thanks, and here is the code. This is in VB 2010 by the way.
Im creating a space invaders game that has a group of "invaders" moving side to side and when i shoot one it gets destroyed, my invaders are in an array. So in order for the invaders to keep moving right until they get to the edge, i made a function that detects which invader is right most. But this was crudly done as I wa trying to make the opposite of my left most function which works. So my rightmost function dosent work
Hey I am making a GDI++ game in vb.net. Now what I want is the monster(picturebox) to go after the player(picturebox). There Are No Vertical Walls. Only The Edge of map barriers. For example to get to the player the AI would have to go to the end of the ledge and either jump off and fall to the lower ledge or take the ladder down. There is no jumping, only falling and going up and down ladders and across the horizontal ledges. So How Can I make this pathfinding system?
I am trying to create a card game on microsoft visual studio 2008. But i am finding it tricky to get the right codes for the generating button. The button wiill display three random playing card suites and when all three match the user is declared the winner.
I am creating an Interactive map which displays the facilities when the user clicks on the Checkbox, such as toilets. It will display all the toilet locations via PictureBoxes. I want to do this without having to write all this code?
Private Sub chkCash_CheckedChanged(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles chkCash.CheckedChanged
If chkToilet.Checked And RadioButton1.Checked Then
I'm drawing lines directly on a PictureBox. My problem is that the visible surface of the PictureBox is smaller than expected, considering the Height and a Width properties. For example, there is a PictureBox with Height = 200 and Width = 400 points. When I draw a point with coordinates of (0,0) it is clearly visible in the topleft corner. But when I draw a point with coordinates of (399,199), it's not visible. Actually, the bottommost and rightmost point in the Picturebox seems to have the coordinates of (397,197).
What's the reason behind this? Is the PictureBox always two points smaller, or is it size-dependent? Or a wrong setting?
I am currently making a small flood runner like game, I completed most of it, but I can't seem to get the jump action right. I got it to jump straight up and back down again, but it doesn't work when I use a left/right arrow key with it to perform a left/right jump. The sprite goes straight up if I only press space. What I want- The sprites goes up and right or left when I press space while holding right or left.
I have been working on a checker game. So far I have code that allows all the white checkers to move properly. The only problem is that this code is about 5000 lines long. I am sure there is a quicker and easier way to do it.
Here is the code for one checker to move in all squares possible for it to go into: elect Case str1 Case 1 If picCheckers1.Location.X < 271 And picCheckers1.Location.Y > 114 And Open5 = True Then picCheckers1.Location = square5 str1 = 5 Open1 = True [Code] .....
The case is the square that the checker is currently in. I also will attach a zip file of the game so that you can understand it more. There are no errors and everything is working fine but I am trying to find a quicker way to code that doesn't take another 5000 lines of code Attached File(s) The_Checkers_Game.zip (430.85K) Number of downloads: 1266
I am just wondering how i can create a picturebox array like i could when i copied and pasted another picturebox in VB6 and it asked me if i want to add them to an array. Doing so made them code like this:
I am making a variation of the board game Trivial Pursuit. I am having trouble moving my piece around the board. The board is a circle divided into 32 squares, that are coloured. I am wondering how to get the players pawn to move around the board if it is a circle. They have to move according the the number they role on the dice. I have the dice rolling and finding numbers, but its the moving i'm having trouble with
I'm attempting to create multiple PictureBox controls. This is as close as I've got this thing to work:
vb.net Dim Obj(6) As PictureBox, i As Byte Dim Pics() As Image = New Image() { _
[code]....
However, it gives me this error on run-time:
Quote:
Object reference not set to an instance of an object. on the line "Obj(i).Image = Pics(i)".It would work if I was able to create a 'new' instance: Dim Obj(6) As New PictureBox, however apperntly:
Quote:
Arrays cannot be declared with 'New'.I am pretty sure that my image resource files are 'instances' of objects'' because the code works fine when every statement is written out separately (no arrays).
Problem1: I have a picturebox on a form. I have also managed to draw several PNG files with transparency onto the picturebox (see below). However, If I move the form outside the border and move it back, the image is gone. My source so far:
Dim k1 As New Bitmap(My.Resources.image1) Dim k2 As New Bitmap(My.Resources.image2) Dim drawMe As Graphics = PictureBox1.CreateGraphics Dim bgcolor As Color = Color.FromArgb(128, 128, 128) drawMe.Clear(bgcolor)
I have a Picturebox, where the .Tag property is holding a path to a file. But I would also like to have something like a .Tag2 property that could hold another file... I'm guessing this is possible to achive, but I have been struggling with this for quite some time now, and I really don't how I to do this... I can't seem to any useful information on the net either...
I am all new to Visual Basic 2008, I am trying to create a picture shuffle game, the problem is I cant seem to be able to move one picture from PictureBox1 to PictureBox2 onClick, here is a Code I written earlier:Sub ChangePicture(ByRef P1 As PictureBox, ByRef P2 As PictureBox)
Is there any visual basic 2005/2008 RPG games with the source code available for download.Could you possibly reply to this post with a link to the website with the game.Or is there a template i could use to try create a zombie style RPG game text or graphical.
I am trying to learn by creating a small application to help my son learn math. It works but I know there are better ways of accomplishing what I need.
For example:
'Declare variables Dim num1 As Double = CDbl(frmMath.txtNum1.Text) Dim num2 As Double = CDbl(frmMath.txtNum2.Text) Dim answer1 As Double = CDbl(frmMath.txtAnswer.Text)
[CODE]...
I imagine I would need something like a do while loop?
