I have problem with my combobox and suggest list poping up. Im taking data from datatable then i start to type and list is poping up if i select item form that list by moving arrows up and down and then press TAB than all is working ok but if I select item by clicking mouse then the item I choose doesn't show text but empty field.

AutoCompleteMode = Append, AutoCompleteSource = ListItems.
Example: Items in the combo are: "Average", "Good", "Poor". If "Average" is selected in the combo, then I type "G", "Good" will autocomplete. But if "Average" is selected, tab out of the control, then tab back into the control, then I type "A" nothing is autocompleted. It just shows "A" in the combo.
Tried to look for a solution for this problem everywhere and can't seem to find it?I have found solutions related to sub-classing the document, but this method results in a Null Exception as there is no document.

View 2 RepliesI'm converting an old VB form to .NET, and there a few Buttons which each have a corresponding ComboBox hiding behind them. The previous behavior was that you'd click the Button, and that would trigger the ComboBox behind it, which would then drop down a selection list. I believe the idea was to have a static color and text label (which cannot be a selectable option in the drop-down list), with the functionality of a ComboBox.
Now, in VB.NET, clicking on the Button (which is directly over the ComboBox in the form) won't trigger the ComboBox dropdown anymore. However, if I make the ComboBox visible enough to click on, it will trigger the ComboBox.TextChanged event, and show the drop-down (they're set to the DropDownList style). I've set the event handler to handle both that event and the Button event. I've tried Button.MouseDown, Button.MouseClick, and Button.Click -- none of which have worked.
I did find the SplitButton control option suggested here, which would probably do the job, but I don't want to have to integrate a non-native control for just 3 buttons. I don't really want to mess with the control template, either

View 2 RepliesI am having a problem with data in a combobox not being refreshed (using VB.net 2005 by the way). Right now I have a windows application with several forms. I have a Template form that contains the cboActivity combobox. This combobox is filled with data from a SQL database. I also have an Activity form. This form allows me to enter new activity information and save it to the database. If I load up the Template form, click the cboActivity combobox, the Fill event is triggered and my combobox is filled with the activity data from the database. But if I leave this form open, go to the Template, add new activity information, and save it...when I go back to the Activity form the combobox has not been update to contain the newly added data. Is there a way I can force the Fill event to fire every time I click the combobox?

The most concrete example is choosing a city in the world. The items are hundreds of thousands.Using standard winforms controls and properties, one can search through a list fast.The problem is that we're using a concatenation of city&district name for all the items. Essentially PREFIX autotomplete works but does not work as needed. The task is to filter and show items by any given string in any part of the item. Essentially a FULL TEXT search in the combobox.Does anyone have an idea about switching autocomplete sources in runtime relatively qiuckly and handling the suggest/suggestappend event?

I have a combox that is run-time bound to a table that is run-time built and populated from a text file. I have set the combobox autocomplete mode to suggest and the source to list items, but only the 1st item will work. Ok so here's the code:

The file is a text file with a list of the 50 states and their abbreviations in the format : stateName - abbr.Now what happens is the data is displayed correctly, but when I begin to type a letter for the autocomplete the only letter that shows anything is the "a" and it will only show the very first item in the text file.Everything else does not display with the autocomplete, but does show in the list. I have tried variations such as adding the data as items like this:

This way does not allow any autocomplete when I begin typing but everything is in the list. View 9 RepliesI am having a problem to get the results of a combobox when the user uses the tab key to exit the combobox. The combobox uses a database as the datasource. When the user uses the mouse to click on the selection the selectedindex is set proprerly, however when the user will enter some text and presses the tab key, selectedindex is set to -1.

I have tried searching on if it is capable to do autocomplete in a combobox in the datagridview control. I was planning to use the combobox in the grid itself. There is a property to set autocomplete true/false but I cannot get the cb to let me enter text to find. It only selects on the first character of items in the list.
View 4 RepliesI have a ComboBox which is bound with a DataSource from (obviously) a Database. However, there are 659 different entries inside this Database and I was hoping to tack on AutoComplete.
I tried setting the Source to the ListItems since, after initialization and the data is bound, all the items necessary are in fact inside the ComboBox so I had assumed that it would pick that up. I was wrong. I tried using a Custom source but VS errored out saying that I couldn't do that since the ComboBox was bound.
My question is, how can I utilize AutoComplete's "Suggest" mode with a bound ComboBox?

I've read thru Iceplug's tutorial on control arrays and got it working. I tried to add a new event by basically copying his click event code and calling it a doubleclick event. I used the proper addhandler and assigned the correct name to my sub. I have the click event changing the background color to blue and the doubleclick event changing the background color to green. The background color does not change to green. Why?

View 2 RepliesI have a vb.net application that uses Flash movies (AxShockwaveFlashObjects.AxShockwaveFlash). I have buttons in the flash movie. When they first start using the application, they can single click on the buttons in the flash movie and button responds accordingly. But after a while (and I haven't been able to pin-point an exact thing that changes it or my issue would be solved), the user has to double-click on the button in the flash movie for them to work.

Renders to the page as a button of lets say cancel after the user clicks it i want to catch the click event (within the server control) and now after the click makeing the button not visible and makeing some kind of content placeholder (that will render from the server control) visible. that content place holder will have 2 buttons inside of it: yes and cancel. I want the programmer that adds this control to be able to register a function to the click event of the yes button. and the second cancel confirmation button should make the first button appear agian. (i know how to do this all in the client side but this time i need it all as server events)
My question is this: how do i catch the click event? i want it all to be handled inside the server control itself. so a programmer that adds this control wont have to worry about anything but just needs to register to the click event of the "yes" button.
