IDE :: Viewing MS Access Database Fields In Vb 2008 App?

I've been attempting to tinker around with connecting a MS access database to a vb 2008 app. I've successfully connected and can access the data by using the add data sources tab. But what I'm trying to do is create a form that has a (1) single line text box, (1) button, and (1)multi line text box. I enter a name in the single line text box, click the button(search db), and when the info is found, it is displayed in the multi-line text box.

I am using the code shown below to compare two Access databases with two fields each and write the results to a third Access database. I am getting an error at the "Do While DMReader02.Read = True" line: "Invalid attempt to call Read when reader is closed." Why would the reader be closed at this point if I am using different DataReaders in the two loops?

I am trying to move from the old ADO to the new ADO .NET . However , no matter how many tutorials I read over the internet , I still can't find a way to do something which , as I believe , has to be very simple I tried to mimic the way the graphic control did but I am missing some things ... I noticed that , in the graphic way , the wizard created 4 controls :- a DataGridView control- a DataSet control- a BindingSource control- a TableAdapter controlI recreated all of them and filled their correspondent properties , but yet I can't make it work . I think what I am missing is the connection itself . I looked on the internet and I think a connection can be made and opened like this :

I am trying to enter a record into an Access database via visual basic programatically.I had this working fine when I had the datagrid bound to the database but now I have decided to do it all at runtime to save on resources at runtime.When I unbound everything and tried running it with my existing code

I have been tasked with writing a program for our yearly reviews. We want all of the information gathered in the form to be submitted to an access database. I have created the form and the database. I can send info to the database but it is put on a new line everytime it is submitted. I would like to check the first column of the table to see if the user login is already there. If it is there I would like to update the information. If it is not there I would like to create a new row. This seems simple, but I can not figure out how to see if the user login is already there.[code]...

I have finished my database using Dreamweaver ASP VBScript and Access, the only thing left is to create the searching system. My search form works fine when posting just one filed. The results page Recordset goes as follows.

how to update fields in an Access database through VB. What I'm supposed to do subtract the quantity of the daily orders from the inventory quantity. My textbook is a little bit vague at this point, because the only way it describes updating the DB is manually through the BindingSourceNavigator. I don't want to enter it manually, I want it to subtract the quantity from the orders table.

I'm trying to create a table in Word using data from a table in Access. There are four fields in the access table that I need. 3 fields are text which I can populate the Word without any issues. However the fourth field is a memo with >255 characters.I'm struggling to come up with the proper code to allow me to populate the Word field with the memo data that has more than 255 characters. I started a forms solution in VB 2008, created a datasource to an access database (2010) and used the datagrid view to display the data. 3 fields in the access database are lookup fields with 2-8 values each, typed in by me, since the linking to other fields did not work. This is not working either. When I change the column to combo-box or not, those values, typed into access, are NOT showing up in the datagrid. the combo box has its drop down arrow but the value fields are empty.

I used visual basic 2008 express edition and I read the "How Do I" tutorial and I went over with it but there are still some instances I can't find or figure out and I need some assistance. I used the LinqtoSQL classes in my project, I have one database and has one table in it,now here is the output of my project.Everytime I first run my project I would be able to view all the records in the table that is inserted in the datagridview on one of my form w/c has existing records that Ive added when I input records when running but when you add new records into it and after adding the new records when you view it right away it would only display the records in 4 fields or 4column of my table and I have 8 fields or 8 columns in my table the rest are blanks but when you exit the program and run it again that's the time you can be able to view all the records in the datagridview attached on a form.I want that when I add records and view it would display all the records w/out needing to exit the program.

Lets say we have an Access file in a well known path (i.e. "C:MyFolderMyFile.mdb"). That file does not have a primary key set on the table we are interested in . Is it possible to set one of the fields as a primary key (for example the "ID" field , which is also an AutoNumber data) ? And one more thing : I'd like to change the name of a field on that table . For example , lets say there is a field called "My Field 1" (note the space characters) and we want it to be renamed as "My_Field_1" . If it's possible , I'd like both these changes to be permanent in the data base file itself , not just in the imported DataSet ,

I do not know how to setup a loop for several pictures and displaying them in a picturebox by hitting a next button or previous button. Well after coding a very basic image viewing application all seemed well. All animated .gif files played beautifully, all .png, .jpg, .bmp, etc, initiated well. However I've now, for some unkown reason, hit a snag. The animated .gif files still play, but they crash after a few seconds of play. Providing this error:

I'm trying to pull all records and fields from a MS Access table. My fields are: numOne, operator, numTwo and result. I'd like to display those fields in a listbox as the following output: 1(numOne) +-/*(operator) 2(numTwo) = 3(result) or simply 1 + 2 = 3. I was able to get some coding going. The problem that I have is that I'm not finding a way to add the fields on the same line, since I can find the right syntax to have all fields added together.
