VB 2008 Datagrid View With Access 2010 Lookup Fields And Combo Box Not Working

I started a forms solution in VB 2008, created a datasource to an access database (2010) and used the datagrid view to display the data. 3 fields in the access database are lookup fields with 2-8 values each, typed in by me, since the linking to other fields did not work. This is not working either. When I change the column to combo-box or not, those values, typed into access, are NOT showing up in the datagrid. the combo box has its drop down arrow but the value fields are empty.

I need some advice I have a bound datagrid and a bound combobox lookup on a form. What i want to do is filter the combo box so it only shows the items left that are not in the datagrid already.
I have managed to achieve this already.But when the program runs, and there are items displayed in the data grid the combo box items are now filtered.The program crashes as it can't display the combobox item as i have filtered them out. The program runs fine if the datagrid is empty (IE combobox items not filtered). But as soon as there is a record in the datagrid when i save the database and refresh the combo box the program falls over is the items it is looking for is not in the combo box items list.
What would a work around be. I have thought of a separate combo box that is hidden and use the datagrid combobox events to show it in the correct position.Just to be tedious the displayed item is not the stored item value

I have a Datagridview with a database attached , but I want to search the the collums by picking the collum I want from a combobox, writing in a textbox and pushing a button and the arrow in the database will move to the row if anything is found, BUT I don't know how to add the collums from the database to the combobox and do the search using the button.

What I am trying to do basically is open an access query in a datagrid view and then be able to make changes to the datagrid and then save it back to the database.When I try to save:
Me.BindingSource.EndEdit()
Me.TableAdapter.Update(DataSet)
It says that update is not a member of the tableadapter... Why is that?

I have a table called MEMBER with fields for mem_id, mem_name, mem_addr, mem_city,mem_state, mem_zip and another table called STATE with state_id, state_addr, state_name in Access 2007.On the Visual Studio 2008 form, there is a combo box for the state. The goal here is to display the state abbreviations, but use the state_id value for the mem_state (there is a foreign key between those two fields).The mem_state is defined as number, the state_id is autonumber. Under the mem_state definition in Access, I used the lookup wizard (on the database that is in the bin/debug folder) to set the following properties:

My program is databound to an access 2007 database. I have a datagridview showing rows as part of my screen and the other part of my screen is texboxes bound to a different table.What I currently have:
1. Date in textbox from one table
2. Age in Datagridview column from another table
I need help with having a calculated date column in the datagridview that will be the textbox date + age (in days) in the datagrid column. I would also need this column to store in my database like any other field also. So if I typed in 2/17/11 into the textbox, and I typed in 2 in the age field, the calculated field would display and store 2/19/2011 in my datagrid and database. My dataset designer won't let me add a date to a string so I'm completely lost. A query calculates it easy in access but when I load the access query in my dataset it doesn't calculate anymore.

I have a combo box with a data source. This box shows one column of a table and allows me to select one item.Next, I have an ordinary text LABEL that I need to put text from another column of the item selected above.I tried to set the data binding field of the label, but this grabs only the first row or data and shows the selected column. That is nice, but I can not figure out how to update the selected selected ROW when the combo box item is changed.In this case the combo box lists a bunch of inventory parts. When I select a specific part, I need the change the text in a label to show the manufacturer. (like a sub-form). This same behavior will be used in several other places, but the relationships can cascade.

how to retrieve image from access database?.. I've just finish retrieving data to the datagrid view. I want to retrieve also the image (also stored in the database as path inside the table where the data stored) in the picturebox. When i clicked the specific data in datagrid view, it will show preferred image to picturebox.

I have a form with labels that have databindings on them from an access database .. im using vb 2008 .. and i have a search query and a next button on the form displays when the currency manager count is greater than 1, to be able to display the next set of data.. now the problem i am having is that when i click the next button, its not changing any of the data in the labels on the form .. i have no clue why it isnt working, im for sure the code i am using is correct, i've tried for hours and cannot figure out where the problem is..

I am still having issues with the combo box. I have the correct query. I have four tables in MS Access. I need to create a form in Visual Basic that has a combo box and a datagrid. The selection from the combo box will display all relevant information about that person on the datagrid. I am currently writing a bit of software for myself and need guidance.
I have a datagridview on a form with a date column. (column0)
I am trying to sort this by date desending but it will only sort by the day (dd) and not the whole date (dd/mm/yyyy) which leaves the months and years unsorted.
(example of output):
#1 - 01/03/2012
#2 - 02/01/2010
#3 - 03/02/2011

I have been told " Make sure the Date column is a date type and not a string " which i have taken as the access database column type. I have set this as Date but it still won't sort the column in datagrid view by the whole date.

I'm am trying to determine the total number of fields under a particular heading given that the other Heading's total number of fields are > or < than the heading in question. The query, shown first in the attached code, works well if there is one column in one database table, however it does not work well when there are a number of columns with a different number of fields respectively. The CategoriesID encompasses the entire tables contents.I devised a function to determine the total number of fields within a particular column and then attempted to incorporate this, without success, into the second query, shown in the code.

I'm trying to create a table in Word using data from a table in Access. There are four fields in the access table that I need. 3 fields are text which I can populate the Word without any issues. However the fourth field is a memo with >255 characters.I'm struggling to come up with the proper code to allow me to populate the Word field with the memo data that has more than 255 characters. I have been working on an app that was basically a vb6 app but had to be changed and I did it all using VB 2008. works well, great. One of the problems that I had was to work on different groupboxes or frames. Since they are layered on top of each other, working on one frame would mess up the others. Eventually it all went okay. but now if i want to add another item in the menu and hence add another groupbox (or frame) in the same app - it would definitely be a nightmare.

I have a program which I am securing with a Username and Password box, in which the user enters their credentials. In the database, the username is a number field (VB would not accept this as a string and was looking for it as Int32). And the password is a text field. I have the form linked to the database by an OleDbConnection with a DataAdapter (DaUser) and DataSet (DsUser). I am using a datarow which I have declared at the top of my code i.e. Public drUser As DataRow. The problem arises when the user enters their username and password.
The following code searches the primary key row of the database (Username)
drUser = DsUser.Tables("User").Rows.Find(txtUsername.Text)
When the Username entered does not exist, I'm getting this error when trying to display on the form the users email:
NullReferenceException was unhandled - Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
I've tried both if statements and try/catch to basically say if the Username doesn't exist... display an error message etc.
