I created a filter for a datagrid using a combo box, but every time I select an item from the combo box and there is no data for that filter I get the following pop-up error during debugging:Index -1 does not have a value.Here is the code that I am using:
1 Private Sub RYAN3estimatesBindingSource_CurrentChanged(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles RYAN3estimatesBindingSource.CurrentChanged

I have a form that has a combo box and a sub form which displays as a datasheet or aka. datagrid. I would like as i type text into the combo box that the datagrid scroll to the matching record.

This is the one key piece of understanding that I need to finish about 4 different programs I have started in the last 2 years. All of them key on understanding the following processes:
View 1 RepliesActually i had created a vb.net project with a several forms and now in my project i got a doubts one is the i want to filter the data which i had stored in the table which i had created in the sql database and linked with the form .Now i had retrived the table data in the datagrid view but i want to filter this data according to the Month wise

I have tried to query the data in Access but the filter that is on the query does not transfer over to the datagrid. I would like to be able to filter the information on the datagrid, but I do not want to use a text box or combo box. Here is a sample of the data that I am working with:

View 2 RepliesI have a datagridview with transaction bindingsource I want the datagrid to show the sorted rows only not all the records when i enter a value into a textbox and click button sort.
View 1 RepliesI know how to add the items during design time but how do you add the items through code. I want to fill the combo box in the datagrid with the results of an SQL query?
View 3 RepliesI started a forms solution in VB 2008, created a datasource to an access database (2010) and used the datagrid view to display the data. 3 fields in the access database are lookup fields with 2-8 values each, typed in by me, since the linking to other fields did not work. This is not working either. When I change the column to combo-box or not, those values, typed into access, are NOT showing up in the datagrid. the combo box has its drop down arrow but the value fields are empty.

I need to connect a symbian mobile to my application to do a transfer of informationbetween my vb.net windows application and my mobilei'm looking to have a software on the mobile side to send the information
View 1 RepliesI like the way one saves settings in VB.Net, that is, with the project properties. However, I want to develop a mobile project that includes saving some settings. Problem is that the project properties doesn't include "Settings" when developing a mobile project.
View 3 RepliesI'm trying to select a company name from a data bound combo box, then display the relevant record in a data bound datagridview.
I've currently used the Data Sources wizard to set the connection string, create the dataset and dragged the combo box and datagridview onto my form.[code]...
i have a question maybe someone can help me, i have a form in vb 2008 with a datagridview connected to a table named (kunden) that have 4 colums the data connection named (kunden2.sdf)
one of these colums named (telefon_N), i have a textbox in the form, what i want is that when i enter a telefon number in textbox
it makes filter for the data and return the row with the same telefon_N in the datagridview
I'm using a dataview and bind it to data grid view. Currently my data is shown nicely at data grid view, and I successfully added filter: itemDataView.RowFilter = "item_id LIKE '" & Me.txtItem_ID.Text & while itemDataView is my dataview, and txtItem_ID is a text box to allow my users entering filter parameter.
This code runs nicely, but the problem occurs when a user enter special character(s) like an apostrophe (single quote " ' ") or an opening square bracket " [ ". Is there any way so that I can escape this characters? Currently I'm replacing each one of them using text.Replace()
itemDataView.RowFilter = "item_id LIKE '" & Me.txtItem_ID.Text.Replace("'", "''").Replace("[", "'[") & "'"
Regards,

View 1 RepliesThis project has been upgraded from VS2003.Was fine at first but now is taking so long to build after make small code changes my development has come to a screeching halt.Its a fairly big project but hasn't grown since before the upgrade.VS2003 only took seconds to build.Also during the 30 minutes the CPU is pegged at 100%
View 4 Repliesi am currently working on a database project using Microsoft Access 2007 and VB Express 2008.my problem is, i want to create a searching function in one of my tables; table Coachee. I know that it is possible to search data using bindingsource.filter as i've already succeeded in doing that. The thing is, how do i actually prompt a messagebox saying that the record of the Coachee ID to be searched is not found? [code]

using strongly-typed ms access 2007 database , vs 10 i have a problem with datagridview filter i have 4 columns and allowDBnull is true , null value is empty my problem is that i need to have 4 textbox to filter the columns so i used in the texchanged
Me.PartsBindingSource.Filter = "Convert(partsn, 'System.String') LIKE '%" & TextBox1.Text & "%'" & " and Convert(description, 'System.String') LIKE '%" & TextBox2.Text & "%'" & " and Convert(Position, 'System.String') LIKE '%" & TextBox2.Text & "%'" & " and Convert(model, 'System.String') LIKE '%" & TextBox4.Text & "%'"
which works just fine , except for the rows which contains any null value as those rows are hidden all the time once i change the text, even when i clear the textbox they keep hidden i can only see them once the form is loaded to cut it short, i need to make a filter to the datagridview , that filter should show the rows even if one of the cells is null?
how to filter the datagrid view? what i mean is, the data that will only show in the datagridview depends on the date selected on the DateTimePicker(dtpDate) example if the value of Date is march 20 2012 the data that will only show on the datagrid view is the event that is save on the march 20 2012. also to arrange it ascending based on time.

Kinda new to working with wpf apps (and vb.net). Looking for a way to filter a datagrid using a combobox (to select the field that the user wishes to search) textbox (to input search terms for specific records). The datagrid loads fine as does the combo containing the fields, however my filter simply does not work.
Code for loading data (works fine)
Dim obj = Me._dataManager.Collections.ReturnCollectionByID(tableSelectionCombo.SelectedItem.TableID)
Me.DataGrid.ItemsSource = obj
obj.Load(New DataManagementDataRequest(Nothing, Nothing))
Code for filtering (not working)
If Me.searchTxt.Text IsNot Nothing Then
obj.filter = selectFieldCombo.SelectedItem.ToString Like searchTxt.Text.ToString
Else
obj.filter = ""
End If
I am trying to filter the results of a datagridviw using the bindingsource.filter method.
Dim filters(2) As String
...
If Me.txtPartIDFilter.Text = "" Then
[code]....
The issue is in the last line. ID_Part is an Int64 data type filters(0) is a string so the system returns a "Can't perform 'Like' operation on System.Int64 and System.String" error message.As you can see I tried converting the data type, but that failed since it is encased in String.Format()- it's going to be a string no matter what, I suppose.It's almost 1:00 a.m. so I'm not firing on all cylinders.
