IEnumerable Not Null But Calling Count Results In Exception
Jun 2, 2010
I have code that's working beautifully on my development machine, but when deployed to the server is throwing null reference exception. So, I can't step through the code, but I've pinned down the culprit. But now I am puzzled.[code]In the code above persons is a dictionary of custom class, and certs is of IEnumerable type. Now here's the quandary.. The first line that sets the label returns False, so certs is not null. But the second line throws an null reference exception.
Dim sizings = From a In db.Sizings Where a.Customer.ID = customer.ID Select a If sizings.Any Then .....
The sizings.Any line is throwing a null reference exception. I thought I was meant to use .Any to determine if there were any rows returned?isnothing(sizings) returns false.
Edit - Resolution:Don't use null objects in the LINQ Query!
Private _PurchaseDelivery as PurchaseDelivery Protected Overrides Sub InsertItem(ByVal index As Integer, ByVal item As PurchaseDeliveryItem)
[Code]....
Which is inside a class which overrides a custom list base. The code is occassionaly throwing an unhandled exception, System.NullReferenceException, on this line when used in production:
If _PurchaseDelivery IsNot Nothing AndAlso _PurchaseDelivery.DefaultSKUBinID.HasValue Then
DeafultSKUBinID is declared as an Integer? (Nullable Int) in the PurchaseDelivery class. I cannot see what might be causing this error, why would this be returning an error?
When I put a break point to the last if clause in the sub ("If (backOrder < 0) Then", see below) it runs until the break point, if I put the break point further below, I get the following error:
Cannot insert the value NULL into column 'OrderID', table 'WHM.dbo.OrderDetails'; column does not allow nulls. INSERT fails. The statement has been terminated.
I've discovered first hand that it only happens when prodqty is bigger then qtyOnStock, thus executing the if clause.
The code:
Private Sub NCOSubmit_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles NCOSubmit.Click Dim sqlText As String = ""
I am getting below exception when i am going to enter record in a table through StoredProceduer of sqlserver i have a field which i need u update immediately after insert of new record in table. for that i created a sotredprocedure in which i wrote insert command first and after that i wrote a update command for same recored but it gave me below error SQlException: Transaction count after EXECUTE indicates a mismatching number of BEGIN and COMMIT statements. Previous count = 1, current count = 2. Uncommittable transaction is detected at the end of the batch. The transaction is rolled back. Some Error in stored procedure execution
I have an object called Result<T> that has a constructor which accepts an argument of IEnumerable<T>. I'd like to be able to pass in a datatable if possible.
I tried datatable.AsEnumerable(), but where I bind to the data it was complaining that 'MyProperty' is not a field or property on type 'DataRow' - which makes sense since 'MyProperty' isn't a property on 'DataRow', but it was a column in my datatable. Is there a way to convert a datatable to something that I can pass into the Result object and still have it bind to, say, a gridview?
I tried using the linq Zip method on IEnumerable but it does not work for more than 2 arrays. Here is an example in Python of what I am trying to do(I got p - nested IEnumerable - and need q - another nested IEnumerable):
I am trying to create a treeview in VB.net, the data has to be loaded from MSAccess 2010 database. When I try to run this program I get error : Argument Null Exception was unhandled, 'column' argument cannot be null and the program crashes. I have pasted the code as under:
Imports System.Data.OleDb Public Class frmRating Private Sub frmRating_Load(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles
I am using a mysql database and I am trying to get the number of results. I should only have 1 result because this is for a username/password login. I tried this
If loginReader.HasRows Then 'do whatever here Else 'do something else here End If
The loginReader gets the results and does the ExecuteReader. The problem with this is that if I use a good username and password it works but if I put in a bad username and password it doesnt do either one of them. Any ideas on how to just count the number of results?
In my datatable I have a single column containing a series of integer values. eg:- 1 2 3 1 2 2 2, etc
I am looking to do an equivalent of the following SQL statement :- Select Value, Count(Value) as Total From DataTable Group By Value Order by Value ASC
I'm looking to return the following from the above example :- Value Total 1 2 2 4 3 1
I am currently building a search page, which includes a textbox and two drop-down lists, a search button, and a datagrid. If results are found and displayed, I would like a label to display:
(e.g.) "24 results found for 'blue sky clouds' "
...where the integer represents the results count, and the keywords and/or drop-down list selections are included in the string. If no results are found I would like the label to display:(e.g.) "No results were found that match your selection. Please try again"I would also like the label to be invisible until a search occurs.
I'm trying to write a function which obtains the sequence_number by counting the records in a table that fit a particular criteria and if the result is 0 or nothing sets a variable to 1 but if the result is 1 for instance, the variable will be set to 1 + 1.
This is the code i'm using but i'm not getting the correct result when results are actually returned. For instance, if the result of count is 1, i want "seq" to equal 1 and total (which represents the sequence # assigned to the next record which is entered with the same plan and date) would therefore be 2 which is the result of seq + 1 (i.e. 1 + 1)
But if my attribute list null. The lambda throws null reference. Is there any way to check for null reference in lambda ? Or is there a better way to rewrite the above linq query ?
this is the first time i am calling a stored procedure via vb.net and i would like to make sure i have everything correct before i execute it. This is my code:
[Code]...
The stored procedure returns 6 colums worth of data and i would like to add that data to a listview. I'm not sure i have the correct sytax for doing that but this is what i used in my previous sql code (running a query with, not a stored procedure). Also, i'm not sure how to go about getting data for the @xxx names above from a textbox? How do i pass the values into the @xxx names from the users textbox? The MS SQL mangement studio code is this for the the stored procedure:
look at this code and see how i can speed it up? Its calling a sub to count commas in long string.Calling part 'Sort the incomming messages Dim count_Coma As Integer = CountCharacter(_InMessToAction, ","c)
The sub. This takes about 0.7 of a second to count 20 commas in string _InMessToAction. Was hoping to get it down to 0.1... if at all possible.
I have it setup to error and stop if no name, and I want it to do the same if no format (via radio button) is selected. I can get the error to come up, but the code continues and outputs a null anser.
Private Sub BtnCalc_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, _ ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles BtnCalc.Click Dim CurrentRental As Decimal
I have created a search form based on my SQL database to search for individual records based on 3 types of criteria. The form is up and running but I want to be able to add some more code. I have assigned Stored Procedure to each click event for each button. What I wantr to be able to do is after value is added to text box and button is clicked if there are no reults to display than a message box is displayed with adequate message detailing this. Also is it possible to add a count of records to the form. Once value has been enetered ij tyext box and stored procedure runs and fills dataset with required data can I display a box to show number of records from this search.
I am using the ModalPopupExtender control to display a modal popup dialog when a button is click. The problem is that dragging the dialog results in an 'scrollleft is null or not an object' error. Here's a video demo and here is ALL the code: If possible, I'd like to resolve this problem w/o resorting to modifying the AjaxToolkit scripts themselves.
visual basic application prompting me a message "Object reference not set to an instance of an object". i have 2 project in one solution. One is developed in c# and other is in vb. i am calling a method of c# project in vb project. the vb code is:[code]when i debug vb project individually it works properly and when i call vb application from c# application, it prompting error. is i missed out any .net framework reference? [code]
Use the "new" keyword to create an object instance & Check to determine if the object is null before calling the method. I'm reading text from a text file using the following [Code]
We are trying to call a VC++ unmanaged Dll from VB.net 4.0 application. During execution the application breaks and gives AccessViolationException(Unable to read or write protected memory). When we press F8, F10 or F5 it continues execution and give us correct results. And it is anonymous i.e. sometimes it works cleanly sometime it breaks. We tried everything ( debugging the Unmanged code, different ways to create unmanaged dll etc..).
Vc++ method signature: unsigned long LZCompressBuffer(unsigned char *SrcString, unsigned long SrcLen, unsigned char *DestString, unsigned long DestLen)
VB.net calling: Public Declare Function LZCompressBuffer Lib "CompExpand.dll" (ByVal buf() As Byte, ByVal slen As UInteger, ByVal dstr() As Byte, ByVal dlen As UInteger) As UInteger Mostly it generates error in memcpy() (String.h) method
My site has been running fine for sometime now until recently I see in the event viewer a null reference exception in the DNN core:
DotNetNuke.Common.Globals.GetStatus() in
F:BuildsMaintenanceWorkingDirectoryLibraryCommonGlobals.vb:line 1125 at DotNetNuke.Common.Initialize.InitializeApp(HttpApplication app) in
[code]....
the line 1125 is:
_Status = UpgradeStatus.None
Which is a property of the Globals class and an Enum Also when this happens it doesnt just do it once then sort its self it does it roughly every minute for an hour or so.I made sure all dataprovider.instances are either in a using or a try catch finally or self closing(if the reader is not used)?
I have the following code, which is meant to loop through a list of CheckBoxes and if checked if gets the text contained in the linked textbox through the tag of the Checkbox, i have used it before and it worked fine but this time i am getting the following error:
Null Reference Exception was unhandled
Dim DisCheckBox As CheckBox() = {chk0_6, chk6_12, chk12_18, chk18_24, chk2_3, chk3_4, chk4_5, chkXSB, chkSB, chkMB, chkLB, chkXLB, chkS, chkM, chkL, chkXL, chkXXL, chkXXXL, chkXXXXL, chkW8, chkW10, chkW12, chkW14, chkW16, chkW18, chkW20} For Each Chk In DisCheckBox
I keep getting a null reference exception w/this program, and its on the line that declares the array. I've looked it over and over and I just don't see why... Can you let me know if you see anything obvious? I'm also getting an "index out of range" exception, but it looks right to me...I declared everything with an 11 for 12 months, 0 to 11 for the intcount.
If Not obj is Nothing and obj.IsActive Then ' null reference exception??constructions like this in C# works, because obj.IsActive is not checked if the first condition is false...
I am building a VB.net application using VB Express 2008 which connects to a MySQL database. Right now, I am only selecting records, but will be writing code for update / insert. I have installed the MySQL Net Connector, most recent stable build. I have set a reference to it in project references. It makes a connection and reads just fine, no issues there at all.
My problem is this: When exiting the project (via calling "End") I am receiving a null Exception error. Here is the error[code]....
