I am using the ModalPopupExtender control to display a modal popup dialog when a button is click. The problem is that dragging the dialog results in an 'scrollleft is null or not an object' error. The function works fine when the controller itself has been invoked. But when I call to the function from outside the controller it returns a " Object reference not set to an instance of an object " error as soon as it hits the response.contenttype line. I have verified that all of the variables are in fact making it to the below action.[code]any ideas why this is only working when called explicitly from inside its containing controller???

Microsoft JScript runtime error: 'document.getElementById(...)' is null or not an object
The code block is:

The object is this situation, does exist. Error is caused at: document.getElementById line.What else could be causing the error?
Update:Index.aspx is calling the javascript function which is located in sysUtilities.js file. The source file is yet a seperate page (ChangeView.aspx)

I want to create a dial which is basically a circle that I can drag around in a circular motion. Ive looked at using the code in an earlier post which allows you to drag items around a screen but I cant figure out how to confine the movement so it only allows the user to drag this circle around in a circular motion. Any coordinate altering I do just looks snappy.
View 6 RepliesI have developed a website that allows users to upload office documents then uses the office object model to convert the document to an HTML file that it then displays in an iFrame. I have, of course, included references to Office.interop.word, and the site works fine on my development machine. When I uploaded it to my production server the site functions fine until I try to upload a document. I initially got a similar error that said "COM object not registered". I realized that Word wasn't installed on my production server. So I installed word and now when the server tries to access the word object model I receive the following error:
Retrieving the COM class factory for component with CLSID {000209FF-0000-0000-C000-000000000046} failed due to the following error: 80070005 Access is denied. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070005 (E_ACCESSDENIED))
I searched the registry for the corresponding CLSID and found a corresponding folder. I added full control to the IUSR_ account and due to the persistence of the error I eventually added full control to "everyone" and ensured these permissions inherited down to the rest of the folder. I then added full control to IUSR_ and again eventually added full control to "everyone" to my microsoft office folder.
I don't know what other permissions to grant and where in order to make this "Access is denied" error go away. I must be granting them in the wrong place, because as far as I know I can't be any more permissive than "Everyone" "Full Control".

I've told it what to do if the dialog result is "Yes." Now, on the "Cancel" dialog result, I only want the message box dialog to close, NOT the program. Whats the command to make only the message box close?
I am getting an error when i try to populate some combo boxes with a value, the combo box has values in and the right amount the code is getting the right number.

I have code that's working beautifully on my development machine, but when deployed to the server is throwing null reference exception. So, I can't step through the code, but I've pinned down the culprit. But now I am puzzled.[code]In the code above persons is a dictionary of custom class, and certs is of IEnumerable type. Now here's the quandary.. The first line that sets the label returns False, so certs is not null. But the second line throws an null reference exception.

I am making use of a 3rd party dll and am encountering some strange behavior in VB, which doesn't occur in C# Perhaps someone can explain what is going on. Anyhow, I am making use of a method in this 3rd party library which accepts an array parameter ByRef. The end result is the variable should remain null after the method call, but it is returning initialized for some reason.

I have a module which contains the main procedure and procedures to change the text property of my status bar. A Call is made to the procedures from one of the forms that requires the user input. I am running my application and at random times when it is unable to connect to the database I get an error saying "A Transport-level error has occurred when receiving results from the server. (provider, TCP Provider, error: 0- The specified network name is no longer available.) How can I stop this pop up from coming up? It comes up every once in a while and I want to disable that.

However, that would simplify my code because right now, I have no choice but to perform a null check all over the place before calling a SyncLock.

View 1 RepliesThis little experiment was a test prompted by a previous thread to learn to work in a graphics object, then paint everything later to a picturebox (later, will be looking at building own custom control for the display), and save out the bitmap to a file on the HD.But weird things happen here. Nothing will display in the picturebox, and the saved bitmap is just a black box.The only partial success I had was replacing: e.Graphics.DrawImage(MyBitmap, 0, 0)
with,
PictureBox1.image = MyBitmap
inside the paint event handler, but that caused infinite recursion of the paint event. But at least I could see parts of the graphic for a fraction of a second before it was wiped clean, every time I clicked the "Go_cmd" button. But what is weird is that this partial success showed that the graphics object was copying successfully over to the bitmap image (because I could briefly see parts of it in the picturebox, but the saved file would still come out black, even though it was based on the same bitmap!The code is as follows.Above the form1 class
