Counting Results In Object?

View 7 RepliesThis little experiment was a test prompted by a previous thread to learn to work in a graphics object, then paint everything later to a picturebox (later, will be looking at building own custom control for the display), and save out the bitmap to a file on the HD.But weird things happen here. Nothing will display in the picturebox, and the saved bitmap is just a black box.The only partial success I had was replacing: e.Graphics.DrawImage(MyBitmap, 0, 0)
with,
PictureBox1.image = MyBitmap
inside the paint event handler, but that caused infinite recursion of the paint event. But at least I could see parts of the graphic for a fraction of a second before it was wiped clean, every time I clicked the "Go_cmd" button. But what is weird is that this partial success showed that the graphics object was copying successfully over to the bitmap image (because I could briefly see parts of it in the picturebox, but the saved file would still come out black, even though it was based on the same bitmap! The code is as follows.Above the form1 class
Imports System.Drawing.Imaging
The single declaration:
Public MyBitmap As Bitmap
The form_load procedure:[ code].....
The code in the version shown above would not even show a brief moment of the graphics in the picturebox, and the saved .bmp file is just a filled black box.
I am using the ModalPopupExtender control to display a modal popup dialog when a button is click. The problem is that dragging the dialog results in an 'scrollleft is null or not an object' error. Here's a video demo and here is ALL the code: If possible, I'd like to resolve this problem w/o resorting to modifying the AjaxToolkit scripts themselves.

I have developed a website that allows users to upload office documents then uses the office object model to convert the document to an HTML file that it then displays in an iFrame. I have, of course, included references to Office.interop.word, and the site works fine on my development machine. When I uploaded it to my production server the site functions fine until I try to upload a document. I initially got a similar error that said "COM object not registered". I realized that Word wasn't installed on my production server. So I installed word and now when the server tries to access the word object model I receive the following error:
Retrieving the COM class factory for component with CLSID {000209FF-0000-0000-C000-000000000046} failed due to the following error: 80070005 Access is denied. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070005 (E_ACCESSDENIED))
I searched the registry for the corresponding CLSID and found a corresponding folder. I added full control to the IUSR_ account and due to the persistence of the error I eventually added full control to "everyone" and ensured these permissions inherited down to the rest of the folder. I then added full control to IUSR_ and again eventually added full control to "everyone" to my microsoft office folder.
I don't know what other permissions to grant and where in order to make this "Access is denied" error go away. I must be granting them in the wrong place, because as far as I know I can't be any more permissive than "Everyone" "Full Control".
I have a form that allows users to select file and then it reads the contents, parses the data and then executes a sql insert statement to add it to a database. What I am having issues with is showing real-time results. Currently, I have the import operation take place on the import form within the OnLoad event. The problem with this is it only shows the final results instead of the results real-time. Is there anyway to do this without creating a seperate thread and delegates?

I have a simple form with Start/Stop buttons and a textbox that shows a ctr. When you click the Start button it loops to displays an incrementing ctr in the textbox. Can't seem to figure out how to get the Stop button to work while the ctr is being displayed. I've tried putting the loop in BackgroundWorker and Delegates too with no luck. Am I close or in left field, what's the magic? [code]...

Am trying to count the number of male in my table however when i try to run using this code it pops an error which is "invalid column name Male" what seems to be wrong with my statements?
Is bindingsource.count only used to give the total items in a list? I'm trying to prepare data for a pie chart, and need to count the instances of different items in a column (If there's a way that the Chart will do this itself, I've not been able to find it, it seems to need linked items and values). The bindingsource is already filtered and would prefer not to combine filters.Would it be best to loop through the rows of the column and count them 'manually' or is there a quicker way of doing this?Put it in a datagridview? Is it possible to use Aggregate Count on a bindingsource?
View 4 RepliesI have created my list box, and can add things to it, now i would like to count the number of items in my list box, also the code that this is going to be the interface for has a maximum number of 20. How do i count numbers in a list box and also put a cap on the number of things that can be entered into the list box? Ps this forum is fantastic, i have learnt so much more today than all of last week!
View 4 RepliesI'm trying to create an application similar to the site WhatPulse, which will generate an image with my clicks and keystrokes. WhatPulse only updates the image once every 24 hours, so I am going to make an application to keep track of that for me, only with realtime stats.
How can I count total keystrokes (outside of the application itself) as well as total clicks, in vb.net?
I'm an inexperienced programmer,I want to count the number of line's in a string. In "hulp" are several line's, all ending with "vbCrlf".I have tryed If hulp.Substring(i, 1) = vbCrLf Then .... but that doesn't seem to work.
View 1 RepliesI have a recordset rst, that returns the data i require ok. However i wish to transfer this data into an array, and also count the amount of records, as a counter, i.e. 23/312 records.I have tried the way i have used in the past, not .net, of rst.movelast etc, but this doesn't seem to work.

I would like to know how to count specific characters for a proper split value so I can seperate the name of the file from the rest of this address:
C:\Program Files\Folder\Folder\File.file
The reason is so I can combine it with other addresses taken in my code to cuase a proper copy command using the File.Copy with import IO The character I am trying to count is: \ This is so when I command the split, I can choose the split number (starts at 0) so if there are 4 of the "\" characters, then I would subtract one from this number, and use it as the Split index so I can capture the split data at: File.file
tell me how I count the number of times a specifc value appears in a column within a DataGridView?

I am making a program that is very simple, but I'm have problems with it. It runs like this:Theres a textbox and you enter in any amount you want.Next to that there are three radio buttons, deposit, check and service charge. If you enter in 100 in the transaction text box, and check the deposit radio button, and hit "Calculate" it will display 100 (in a total display box); hit calculate again, it will display 200, then 300, etc..Now lets say you keep 100 in the text box, but you check either "service charge" or "check" and hit calculate then it will MINUS the amount in your total display box. So for example if you had 300 in the total display box, and 100 in the transaction box and you checked "Service Charge" and hit calculate it would display 200 in the total display box, hit calculate again, and it shows 100.. etc..
Public Class Form1

I've done what I thought was a lot of work with DateTime and Timespan but what I am trying to do now I cannot figure out. It seems simple enough but I can't think of the code I need to make it work >.<
Currently I am using a timer to tic on 1000ms to count down a timespan. However, what I would like to do is set a timer for 30 minutes. I would like to display the minutes:seconds of the timer on a label and perform actions when the minutes and seconds are specific values, say minutes = 5 AND seconds = 0 to perform an action when the timer reaches 5 minutes exactly.
My goal is to have a 30 minute timer that performs actions at specific times, then when the timer reaches 0:00 it restarts at 30:00 This seems like such a simple task but I cannot for the life of me figure out where to start.
Inside one of my functions, i load up an xml then retrieve the relevant data like:
vb.net
'// load up all the fields we will need to work with
Dim firNam As String = XMLItem("hiddenFieldsName0").InnerText
[Code].....
Don't exist, i was wondering if there was a way to check how many lines there is in the xml and then load them? or is there an easier way i could do this?

I am somewhat new to object oriented programming and am attempting to flatten a Linq object hierarchy by using a shim class.how to initalize a derived class with property values from a base class?I have two objects, a base object with about 100 properties, and a derived object which inherits from the base object and adds a few additional properties beyond those of the base object. My simple constructor creates the derived object, but I am looking for a way to initialize the derived object properties with values from the base object.Right now I am using reflection to iterate over the properties individually and I suspect there may be a better way. The following example shows my shim class constructor for the derived class, and two properties:
newProperty1 - a new string property of the derived class
flattenedProperty2 - a new string property of the derived class, copied from a 2nd-level object of the base class
Code example:
Public Class derivedObj
Inherits baseObj
Private _newProperty1 As String[code].......
Is this the correct constructor approach to flatten the object hierarchy using a shim class? My second question relates to initialization of properties in the derived class. The constructor above creates the derived object, but what is the best way to initialize the derived object properties with values from the base object? The following code uses reflection to iterate over the properties individually, but I suspect there may be a better way.
Code example:
' property names are in the string array fieldNames
'baseObjQuery is an ienumerable of baseObj
'derivedObjList is a list of derivedObj[code].....
Is there a simple way to initialize values for the properties in the derived object based upon the values of the common properties in the base object?
