I am getting this error when I call a javascript function to display a modal window:
Microsoft JScript runtime error: 'document.getElementById(...)' is null or not an object
The code block is:

The object is this situation, does exist. Error is caused at: document.getElementById line.What else could be causing the error?
Update:Index.aspx is calling the javascript function which is located in sysUtilities.js file. The source file is yet a seperate page (ChangeView.aspx)

At the moment im pulling the xml down and writing it to a file. Im then reading this file with an xmltextreader and displaying the data.
The problem i have is that i dont seem to be able to figure out how to do something similar to "getelementbyid("name")"

I keep getting the 'Object Expected' error within my page script when I click the button.I've debugged using fire-bug and the id passed to the JavaScript method is the correct id and document.getElementById(a) finds the button. The error keeps occurring in the _doPostBack. Can this be caused because the button is inside a modal popup in a gridview cell, and the gridview is inside a update panel. The reason I'm still using the JavaScript is the Post-Back event in the GridView.RowCommand did not occur without this.

MVC 3. VB.NET I have the following controller action in my application to send generated PDF files to the User by download. The function works fine when the controller itself has been invoked. But when I call to the function from outside the controller it returns a " Object reference not set to an instance of an object " error as soon as it hits the response.contenttype line. I have verified that all of the variables are in fact making it to the below action.[code]any ideas why this is only working when called explicitly from inside its containing controller???

We are opening a Word document from our Visual Basic 2010 application using the Word object. When we run our application under Windows Server 2008 the document name is truncated in the main window title for the document. This is not the case when we run our application under Windows XP. Why on earth is HiddenAgeId, clearly passed just like UpdatePanelID, is returning an "Undefined identifier Error"???
edit: Update: turns out it works perfectly (as it should) when i load it up in FireFox, but has the resulting error in Internet Explorer, this is not a browser compatibility issue, it should also work in IE, but it doesn't!

I am making use of a 3rd party dll and am encountering some strange behavior in VB, which doesn't occur in C# Perhaps someone can explain what is going on. Anyhow, I am making use of a method in this 3rd party library which accepts an array parameter ByRef. The end result is the variable should remain null after the method call, but it is returning initialized for some reason.

The core issue issue is I get an NullReferenceException error when calling the node.RemoveAll() method in the code below. I'm calling the RemoveAll() method because each element has the xsi:nil attribute when it is supplied to me, and if I don't remove it before updating the element value, the XML won't validate by the webservice.The XML document supplied by the 3rd party webservice is as follows:

I've seen have used the XmlNamespaceManager, but I haven't been able to make it work. This xml document has a namespace specified for the TaskData element, and a different namespace for the RequestInfo element. I tried specifying the XmlNamespaceManager variable for each namespace, but got the same results....hovering over the nsmgr variable while in break mode reveals that the "children could not be evaluated" and that the DefaultNamespace property is an empty string.

View 1 RepliesI have an aspx page with a button. When the user clicks that button, the following javascript opens a new browser window (in this case, 'Reasons.aspx'). Works great. Here's the function for that part:

When this window pops up, there are some controls. One of which is a button, which triggers almost identical code to popup a third window (in this case, ReasonCodes.aspx). Only it won't work. Here's the code for that:

I've set breakpoints on the javascript. It does execute. Here's what's weird -- The above javascript executes, only I don't get a new window with ReasonCodes.aspx. However, I set a breakpoint in the page_load of ReasonCodes.aspx and all of it executes. So the javascript executes, the code-behind page_load of the third page executes, but I don't get a third page. Instead, the second window (Reasons.aspx) refreshes. It's like my third window is somehow 'hidden'.
