I'd like to make a program module that exports all records from three tables in a database into a file at once(I means not adding row by row, maybe like BULK). how to code for exporting and importing?

I need to add these classes to an ASP.NET website for school. However, my imports statement doesn't even show the option. What am I missing?

At home I use Visual Studio 2008 Pro but a class of mine is trying to have us use Visual basic 2005 express edition. Since we need to submit source code files will there be a problem if I just submit the .vb file instead of the whole solution?

I have been learning about working with databases and VB. I have coded the connection string for a MS Access database to my VB project but i cannot establish a connection with my sql mdf database.
The code i used to connect to MS Access is:

I have read through Microsoft Visual Basic 2008 by Michael Halvorson and Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 by Lars Powers and Mike Snell. These books mention the ability to use SQLServer as the DB but I am not clear on the process. I am not knew to programming an have had training in OO programming but have never done any OO programing professionally. So, you can assume I am new to OO programing.
I have created an SQL DB using the Server Explorer in VS, and created a Windows form with Labels, TextBoxes, and ComboBoxes for the application's user to add the demographic information about a new employee. I created a new query with the Query builder that is in the Employee table of the DB which contains all the field for the record for inserting. I have a few questions to understand the process for inserting into the DB.
The DB fields are defined as numeric(6, 0), nurmeric(5, 2), and char(30) for some examples.
The maxlength on the form windows are in sync with the maxlength of the DB for the various fields.
1. What is the process to update the DB with the fields from the form?
2. Do I need to declare and set the results from the form first? If so, how do I call the function (query) that I created in the Employee table.
3. The emp_num I would like to be a dynamically incrementing number starting from 1000. How do I make this a dynamic? The emp_num is also the key on the Employee table.
4. I have a decimal field on the Employee table to hold emp_rate (pay rate). Does the user enter the decimal on the Form or is this resolved by SQL to take the 7 numbers and insert the decimal beause of the table's field definition?
User control created in vb.net 2003 can it be used in express edition ?
View 15 RepliesI have attempted to uninstall VB 2005 express and C++ express using Remove Add programs to no avail. Error message: The Window Installer Package c:program files visual studio 8 vs_setup.msi could not be opened. I have removed the MSDN library and SQL server successfully. I have also tried vs_uninst_betas tool which doesn't find anything to uninstall. I would prefer not to modify the registry if at all possible. If I could find a source for the original install packages for VB and C++ I would attempt reinstalling and then uninstalling....but cannot find them anywhere.
View 4 RepliesAbout 3 years ago i came across a vb project for a photo album, it was on online tutorial and I followed it and after some custom tweaking I found it was quite usefull. Unfortuatly the original sourcecode has long since vanished.The project was fairly easy to follow and I remember the author had a photo image of his sailing boat and a yellow labrador (just trying to jog some memories here) :).
Anyway; I have searched high and low for it but can not find it. I'm pretty sure it was on a msdn or some other microsoft forum and was to do with VB 2005 or VB 2008 edition of Visual studio.
I created a Custom User Control at work using VS Express. It was added to my toolbox and then I added it to my form.When I created another one at my home use VS Pro, I think, it was not added to my toolbox and I'm not sure how to access it.

I have created a table in the VB 2010 Database Explorer but I cannot for the life of me work out how I can get this copied or created into the underlying server. It is not appearing in the underyling serverand when I run the code of course I ge "invalid object <tablename>" I have data as well in the table that appears in Database Explorer. I think I have missed something fundamental in my overall conception of using VB 2010 Express with SQL Server Express in that I don't know if I have a local copy (that isn't then mirrored on the server), or what (the ____ have I got)? An article that explains the overall relation of Database Explorer to the underyling Server would be great as well

I can Add the event to the calendar I have the necessary items on my form linked to my table and I can save them to my table:

But I cant keep the event displayed on my calendar when I close it and open it again.
