I wanted to include an Enum of fractions in an application.
Enum fractions

1/2
End Enum
This produces a 'Statement cannot appear within an Enum body" Error.
Is there a way to make this Enum work?

View 1 RepliesI was able to create an application in VB.net that talks to a SQL Server CE database. Now i want to deploy this application using the publish feature with clickonce. An issue im having tho is when I install the application on another computer it keeps looking for my sql server on my development pc.
Ive added the .sdf when i package my solution but its still an issue. How do I change my connection string to connect to the .sdf file that I included in the package? this is my current connection string which looks at the sql server: connectionString = " Data Source=CHRIS-PCSQLEXPRESS;Initial Catalog=ce_db;Integrated Security=True"
I would really like to know if there is anyway in which I can package two or more set up files together with my vb.net application; so that after installing the application, it automatically starts installing the other applications from the other set-up files.
In my case I want to include mysql server and client together with the application for a demo cd, that am making for a client.
I have a software package with a bunch of libraries and header files that I am trying to use in a VB.net application. The software help file states the following: The MIL DVD includes MIL libraries that support the Microsoft Visual C++ .NET 2003/2005/2008 (unmanaged) compiler under Windows Vista/XP. The DVD also includes ActiveMIL ActiveX controls for Microsoft Visual Basic .NET 2003/2005/2008, Microsoft Visual C# .NET 2003/2005/2008, and Microsoft Visual C++ .NET 2003/2005/2008 RAD tools.
To compile a MIL application program, you must include the mil.h header file, in addition to the required standard C include files. After you have compiled your application program, you will have to link it with the appropriate libraries or import libraries for your operating system, compiler, and target board.

I'm trying to make an application which has a feature of an event calendar. I am quite familiar with the MonthCalendar tool in the toolbox, but that's not really what I'm looking for. I would like to make a calendar that somewhat resembles 'iCal' in Mac OS X. If any of you use Microsoft Groove Workspaces, the calendar in that is very close to what I'm thinking of. I want the user to be able to double click the day and add new events which will show the title of the events in that day on the calendar when the events are saved. Also i would like to have the user be able to make recurring events. Is this even possible with Visual Basic '08?

I used BackGroundWorker control on a Windows desktop program. It worked great and I would like to use it with other languages. Which languages does it work with -- ASP.NET, Silverlight, WPF, Class libraries (dll), console applications, services,
WCF? I see that it is in the System.ComponentModel namespace. Is that used by more than Windows desktop programs? If it's not used everywhere, is there an equivalent class on other platforms?

View 1 RepliesI want to add a feature to my trial version of the application. After first activation, I want to make it limited to 90 days. But I am concerned about user's changing the date of system hence deceiving my application. Is there any possibility to make it fool proof in a way that even if user takes the calender back, application expires after 90 days of first activation? First activation date has been saved in the database.

I'm in the process of developing an application to keep track of employee's shifts. the top of the grid should display the days, the left side the employee name. The grid will display the type of shift (N for night, D for day) I just need some direction as to how to develop the calendar grid...I have a database with all the required information (I have a "Shifts" table, which contains the employee name, the date of shift, and the type of shift). Times are not relevant since employees will be either working a night or day shift (type of shift). I'm using VB9 for this project.

Is it possible to to create some sort of "pop up calendar" in a Windows Application (VB.net).What i want to do is to have a calendar image/icon right beside my textBox and when this image/icon is clicked a popup box is opened with the "month calendar" object from the toolbox area. I then want it to insert the date choosen from the calendar into the textBox.I can figure out the rest, but my main concern is the icon having some sort of "event handler" to allow a calander to popup when it is scrolled over or clicked on.
