I'm having trouble with an infragistics ultragrid using vb.net. I currently have a cell with the value "inner", however I want to be able to display a completely different string for that cell without losing the value. I understand that the cell has two properties, one value property and one text property. The text property is read-only so I cannot simply assign a new string to that.
View 2 RepliesI've been working with an Infragistics Ultragrid and I'm looking for a helpful hint. I'm using a table from SQL Server 2008 to populate my grid. The table that I'm calling has a column that has been updated to be something like this. "Items" + char(9) + char(9) + "Cost" + char(13) + char(10). The "Items" section of the column is padded to be 50 charcters in length followed with the two tab characters, the cost then the new line characters. Ultimately this is what the results of a single row would look like. Notice how the items and the cost are lumped into a single cell.

I have a Infragistics ultragrid with a checkbox column (no binding on the checkbox column) need the user to only have one check box selected at a time. If a checkbox is checked and the user checks another row I need the first checkbox to uncheck. I am new to infragistic controls, so I apologize if this is a simple property that I have not found. But I have searched the forum and KB to no avail. Do I have to rip through the rows and uncheck all rows but the active one?

The problem is that when I try to set the property like this: myClass.Language = "English" The property is set to "English" and not to "<![CDATA[English]]>" which is what I want. What is the reason for that and how can I fix it? When placing a break point on End Set and use the Watch window to inspect the value of _Language after setting the property to "English" it remains "English" and doesn't change.
I have a Windows Form that contains a DataGridView. The DataGridView ReadOnly property is set to TRUE. The DataGridView as 3 columns. I would like to make the cells edible (ReadOnly=False) when the RowHeader is clicked. I thought that the following code would do it, but when I click on a RowHeader and then click in one of the cells in that row, the cell is still ReadOnly.

I've been aware for some time that the Cells() property is early bound but the Cells.Item() property is late bound. In VBA this all works seamlessly apart from the fact that we lose intellisense in the VBA IDE in the latter case:

I'm comfortable enough with this because I'm aware of it and it is trivial to handle by explicitly converting to an Excel.Range. We also had a pretty good discussion about the Cells property a little while back in the VBA board which looked at some of its inner workings. My question is to dig a little bit deeper into the way that this has been implemented. I'm trying to get a better understanding about the reasoning behind the Cells.Item() property returning an Object rather than a Excel.Range?
As I understood , The property grid is given an object which it can manipulate by extracting its Properties using reflections.
My problem is that I have a set of Parameters that is determined during run-time , thus I can't staticly compose a class with properties to represent this set.
I have two idea in mind to solve this problem but both are complex and will probably consume lot of time , infact i will say they are not practical under my time constraints. One is to use Reflection Emit in order to define a class dynamically and the other is to dynamiclly build a C# source file and then compile it using CodeDom.
Can Property grid behave in a different manner( other then extracting the Properties of an object using reflections ) that can suite my problem?
I want to say that the reason I went to the property grid from the begining was its ability to provide realy nice Data Retrieval UI for common types.For color you autometically get a palette , For dataTime you automatically have a nice calender. I would like to get those things automatically If possible.
I am not sure if this makes sense or not, but I need to process raw text (without any encoding?) that I retrieved from a file recovery application "PhotoRec".With an application like Notepad++ I can see all of the text I need to manipulate but with VB I seem to only get some of the text with other stuff stripped out.[code]I essentially add each line of text to the collection so I can read each line at a time (other processing, etc.)So, as mentioned, with the above code I get text but not all of it. With different encodings I get different versions of the text represented in "current byte". So, how can my .NET application read text like Notepad++ or a similar "raw" text reader app?

By default the ultraWinGrid pops up a delete confirmation box for any row deletions. How do I turn that feature off?
If i'm deleting in the code, it's no problem:
myUltraGrid.DeleteSelectedRows(False)
But I don't know how to apply that when the user presses the delete key.
I have a Windows Form custom control that displays alerts on a customer record. The control uses an Infragistics 9.1 UltraWinGrid to display these alerts, which is filled from a dataset populated by a business object. Some users are having issues viewing these alerts; the grid will be completely blank, like the fields were hidden for some reason. This sample code shows how the grid is populated:

I have not had any success finding anything out about this problem. I did add some trace logic to check the 'HiddenResolved' property on the grid rows and am waiting to find out the results of that. Is there anything else that could be causing this grid to only be hidden for some users and not for others, and also could anything else be causing this only to happen occasionally?
I have a web page where I'm using an Infragistics UltraWebGrid Control. I've created an event handler (see code below). The reason I'm using this code-behind code is because I can't get javascript to update the grid cell correctly. We've tried everything under the sun here except for the right solution...Duh! Anyway, when the event fires, it literally takes at least 2 seconds before the cell updates. It does update and it updates successfully but the response time is terrible. Anyone have any ideas why this might be happening.A couple of programmers think it has to do with AJAX.

i have an access i need to change some data on.
So i made a new .net project with a gridview, Refresh Button, and Save button. The Gridview is filled by records where the Mobile Number for each record begins with "7" Theres about 7000 total that it brings back.
I want to loop through each Cell and add a "0" to the beginging of each of these mobile numbers, then user can hit save (user will only be me i guess!)

I've been able to incorporate stock data into my spreadsheet by linking it to the web, but the trouble is the spreadsheet will keep no history of what the previous stock values were, so I can't graph how things change over time. This sounds like it might be too complicated to be built in to excel, so I was wondering if anyone knew how to program this in Visual Basic. Maybe something like this.... If refresh then new cell plus new time stamp. Another possibility would be to have a whole bunch of cells that refresh only once but at longer and longer intervals, e.g.,

I'm using an Infragistics UltraWinGrid with a column of drop-down boxes. I don't want the user to be able to select the same value for multiple rows in that column. Is there a simple (or heck, I'd settle for advanced) way to do this? I'm using VB.NET

I tried setting a filter on the data source for the drop-down box. But when I did that, the values in the other boxes in that column started disappearing (not the values themselves, but the descriptions that they were supposed to represent, so instead of reading "Information", it just said "1"). All of the cells in a column refer to the same combo box, so if you filter out a value from the data source for one of them, you filter it out for all of them. I'm currently trying to catch a CellChange event and check against all other currently-used values. If it was already used, I would put up a message saying as much and revert back to the old value. However, the value comes back as the previously-saved one, so... not helpful. About to see if I can use the "text" property.

All I need is the text from the cells, not to create an object for each cell (and then not send them to garbage collection).Is there an easier way of just getting the text? Ideally, if I can get a method for getting the text values of the cell, I'd like to get the multiple rowArray()'s added to a master array and update the program's values later.
EDIT:I also realize that I have two options if I were to create a master array, say mArr, to hold all the data.Would it be better performance-wise to have mArr to be large and the sub arrays small, or mArr to be small and the sub arrays to hold more of the information?I ask because the files that will be imported will have more rows than columns, so I was wondering if there was any "set" way of doing it.
