View 10 RepliesWhen using a TableLayoutPanel it is possible to put 2 or more objects in 1 cell by using a container in that cell. With a TableLayoutPanel it is possible to span a object over more then 1 cell (ColumnSpan).
Now I want to put 2 or more objects in 1 cell and using Columnspan at the same time. Example: Cel 0,0 exist of 3 labels and 1 label is in cell 0,1 too (see attachment).
I want to create a 2-high, 6-wide grid with labels in the top row and text boxes in the bottom row. Creating the six labels and the six text boxes is easy. View 3 RepliesI'm using a TableLayoutPanel and I want to get the control at a specific position in the TableLayoutPanel. I want to iterate over the rows and columns of TableLayoutPanel but this question applies equally if I just wanted a single control at a specific row and column.Unfortunately GetControlFromPosition(int column, int row) only retrieves controls that are visible (that is their Visible property is set to True). This is no good to me as sometimes I want to access a control at a specific position that is not visible and then make it visible.
I have had to resort to iterating over the TableLayoutPanel.Controls collection, and then get the position of each control using GetPositionFromControl(Control control) or GetCellPosition(Control control) until I find the position I want.(I'm not sure of the difference between GetPositionFromControl and GetCellPosition methods as MS documentation is meagre, but I'll ask that question separately).
I am dynamically displaying some controls in a TableLayoutPanel. The problem I'm faced with is that I want the controls to be displayed in a specific order, instead of just filling the TableLayoutPanel from 0,0 till the end of the panel.
I have 5 columns and 5 rows.

When I add a control to a TLP in design mode several new properties get added to the control, such as ColumnSpan, RowSpan, etc, which can then be set in the properties window. If I add a control to a TLP in code these properties don't seem to be available. how to set these properties in code if it's even possible?

I want to be able to loop through the controls that specific row/column position in the TableLayoutPanel and test for a condition (control type) and then set this control's property to TRUE and all others to FALSE. Bascially I am turning controls on/off.
I know can loop through an entire TableLayoutPanel like this:

How do I restrict this loop to a specific row/column in the TableLayoutPAnel? Can you qualify where specifically you want to look in the container control?

View 5 RepliesI'm using VB.net 2005 to code an application that will be a used as a "digital sign" to report factory production levels and will be displayed on a 55 inch wide screen LCD TV/display. So I am putting my controls in a TableLayoutPanel control so they will expand to use the whole TV screen and can be view from a distance. (I have my FormBorderStyle = None and WindowState = Maximized.) My Form is set to AutoSize = True and AutoSizeMode = GrowOnly. My TableLayoutPanel AutoSize = True, AutoSizeMode = GrowOnly, and Dock = Fill. I'm using Label controls to display the text on the display and they are set to AutoSize = False and Dock = Fill. When I run the app. the Gauge control expands on my 19" monitor like it should, but none of the Label Text expand. How do I get the Labels to enlarge / Fill there area? Is that not possible?

i have an access i need to change some data on.
So i made a new .net project with a gridview, Refresh Button, and Save button. The Gridview is filled by records where the Mobile Number for each record begins with "7" Theres about 7000 total that it brings back.
I want to loop through each Cell and add a "0" to the beginging of each of these mobile numbers, then user can hit save (user will only be me i guess!)
how can i change the text in the cell to do this? i thought this would be easy but for some reason i cant figure out how to change the cell values!

My main goal is to have an excel spreadsheet that automatically plots the overall success of my stock portfolio over time (% change over time). I've been able to incorporate stock data into my spreadsheet by linking it to the web, but the trouble is the spreadsheet will keep no history of what the previous stock values were, so I can't graph how things change over time. This sounds like it might be too complicated to be built in to excel, so I was wondering if anyone knew how to program this in Visual Basic. Maybe something like this.... If refresh then new cell plus new time stamp. Another possibility would be to have a whole bunch of cells that refresh only once but at longer and longer intervals, e.g.,

I have a DataGridView with cells from a database file that contains data. Basically, I want to get the text from the selected cells in the DataGridView and display it in a textbox at the click of the button. The code for the button click event is:

All I need is the text from the cells, not to create an object for each cell (and then not send them to garbage collection).Is there an easier way of just getting the text? Ideally, if I can get a method for getting the text values of the cell, I'd like to get the multiple rowArray()'s added to a master array and update the program's values later.
EDIT:I also realize that I have two options if I were to create a master array, say mArr, to hold all the data.Would it be better performance-wise to have mArr to be large and the sub arrays small, or mArr to be small and the sub arrays to hold more of the information?I ask because the files that will be imported will have more rows than columns, so I was wondering if there was any "set" way of doing it.

I have column memo in datagridview memo column cells has some time various number of words. If I put more words in memo column it gives scroll bar at the footer I don't know how to wrap text in them cells programmatically. Just want to fix column width and wrap text vertically. does it increase height of cell as well.
