Access Objects On A Dynamically Created UserControl An A Dynamically Created Tab Page?

Dec 5, 2011

I can usually find the answers to most of my questions via the Google Gods, but not this time.I have a form that has a TabPageControl and on that page a collection of labels and text boxes via a usercontrol.

On the form I have a button that allows the user to create a new tabpage, when the code adds a new page, it automatically adds the UserControl collection. I can't get my head around how to access the objects on the newly created tabpage.

What I need to be able todo is take the index of the tabpage that has focus and translate that against the UerContol name, but I havn't a clue how to do it!

Winforms UserControl Is Not Using The Inheritance Tree Have Created?

Jul 26, 2009

I am working on a wizard form framework that will allow me easily create wizard forms.I have a WizardForm form that has a panel on it. My plan is to dynamically load UserControls into this panel on the form. Each UserControl that is loaded onto the form panel must implement certain properties (allowNavigateNext, AllowNAvigate previous etc.). So I have created an interface to enforce that contract so that any custom user control can be used in the wizard as long as it implements that Interface. So far so good. created my first user control. I implemented the interface. All was good.I went to do the second user control and I realized that this second user control would have the EXACT SAME implementation of the interface as the first User Control. So...I thought...aha...duplicated code...how can I get rid of that.

IDE :: Created A Custom UserControl, With A Custom Designer?

Dec 3, 2009

I have created a custom UserControl, with a custom designer, which contains a Panel which is editable. Any controls dropped onto this Panel will go off-form when an Anchor is set. This was already reported here and acknowledged as a bug:[URL].. Are there any known workarounds? Or available hotfixes for this issue?

I already implemented ISupportInitialize in my custom panel class, where i set the docking, which doesn't help. Here's the relevant code:

UserControl Access To Public Properties In Another UserControl?

I have a Windows Form frmMain() holding seven more-or-less unrelated UserControls, ucFlopsy", "ucMopsy", "ucCottontail", etc...I say "more-or-less" because each of the seven UC has three similar public read/write properties:

IsLocked (a boolean indicating if the following two properties are "Locked")
IsLockedID (if IsLocked=True then IsLockedID is an integer)
IsLockedName (if IsLocked=True then IsLockedName is a string)

.net - RaiseEvent From A UserControl That's Placed On A UserControl That's On A Form?

Jul 11, 2011

I have a Windows Form that contains a custom control container as a UserControl. For the sake of this question, this custom control container is called Dashboard. This container called Dashboard contains numerous other controls depending on their permissions. I need to raise events that are contained on these controls through the Dashboard control and over to the Windows Form.

How can I bubble up the event? I'm using VB.NET for this project, but can convert C# into VB.NET.Also, to complicate matters, the main Windows Form is a VB6 project. So, I'm using the InteropFormsToolkit to accomplish this.

Asp.net - Reference TextBox In One UserControl From Another UserControl

Jan 19, 2011

I have two UserControls on a MasterPage. DataEntryUC contains several TextBoxes and DropDownList. NavSaveUC contains navigation buttons. When the user clicks on a navigation button, I will be saving the data entered into DataEntryUC from the NavSaveUC UserControl.

I have a couple of tables in my DB that contain stored procedure names, control names, control types, SqlDbTypes, etc.... that correlate with DataEntryUC.

How do I reference a text box that is on DataEntryUC from NavSaveUC?

I have been working on the following code from NavSaveUC with no luck.

Dim MyControlName = "txtFirstName"
Dim MyControlType = "TextBox"
Dim MyStringValue as String

Setting Usercontrol Properties Within A Usercontrol

Mar 22, 2012

I have a usercontrol that has a main form and calls another form within the usercontrol to get some data from a database that allows the user to select some items from a CheckedListBox control on the sub form. I want to pass the selected items from the CheckedListBox back to the main form and display the results there. I have a public property called DBList of type List(of String) on the main user control. If I create a reference to the usercontrol form the second form within the usercontrol I get a new instance of a user control. All I want to do is set the property on the usercontrol and close the secondary form. How do I reference the usercontrol from the form within the usercontrol?

Code in UserControl:

Public Property DBItems() As List(Of String)

Return DBItems

VS 2010 Load Data Into UserControl In UserControl.Load?

Sep 25, 2011

I just discovered the joys of UserControl's and I was wondering if it is possible to populate the usercontrol with data from a database in the UserControl's Form.Load event instead of the form the userControl is placed on. I feel it would make using the control a lot easier if it just populated itself without anymore code.I tried it with a ListView but it gave me a bunch of errors, so I didn't know if it had to be done a certain way or if it was just one of those things that doesn't work no matter what.

C# - Using Many Classes In GUI That Inherit From A Base?

Oct 20, 2010

I have classes setup similar to this:

<DataContract()> _
Public MustInherit Class SystemTaskProcessBase
Public MustOverride ReadOnly Property Name() As String
Public MustOverride ReadOnly Property Description() As String
Public MustOverride Property Result() As SystemTaskResult

[Code]...

I need to use these classes on the client system, but also need to be able to create these "tasks" through a management interface. Each class (Task) that inherits the base, could have its own properties that are unique to each class, but at the same time, share the same common base class properties. For example, the above shows a reboot task and a delete file task, the delete file task needs to know which file to delete, so has a property for that. But the reboot task does not need this property. So when the management application is creating these tasks, it shouldn't provide a text box for the file property for the reboot task. There may be more tasks created at a later date with completely different properties.

How would I go about providing the WinForms management application a way to enumerate each class into a ListView for example, and allowing the user to create these tasks and filling in the dynamic properties that each class would have? Desired functionality would be to create a task form that creates dynamic controls available for the properties as needed, depending on the public properties in each class, but at the same time have the base class properties available as well.

Inherit A Sub New (Constructor) With Parameters?

Apr 25, 2009

In the code below I recieve the compile error "Error Too many arguments to 'Public Sub New()'" on the "Dim TestChild As ChildClass = New ChildClass("c")". I do not recieve it on "TestChild.Method1()" even though they are both on the base class I am inheriting from.

Public Class BaseClass
Public ReadOnly Text As String
Public Sub New(ByVal SetText As String)[code].....

As suggested below but I do not have to do that for Method 1 or other inherited methods and I am looking for the cleanest code possible. This may be a limitation in the system with inheriting parameterized New statements but I can not find it documented anywhere. If it is required then I would like to see the documentation.

Inherit And Then Override A Resource Or Contents Of It In .NET?

May 21, 2012

I have a project, let's call it "BASE", that has a bunch of .CSV files as Resources. The project makes references to My.Resources.XXXXXXX in different methods where XXXXXXX is the CSV filename. I am working on a class that derives from "BASE" and I would like to change some of the .CSV files and replace the ones that are in the "BASE" project with mine. I would like the methods in the base project to use my CSV files when it calls My. Resources. XXXXXX instead of the files that are in "BASE"'s Resources. Any tips on how to do it? (any .NET language is welcome)

Inherit From A Generic Class Without Specifying A Type?

Apr 29, 2009

I have the following sample code in a VB.NET console application. It compiles and works, but feels like a hack. Is there a way to define EmptyChild so that it inherits from Intermediate(Of T As Class) without using the dummy EmptyClass?

Module Module1
Sub Main()
Dim Child1 = New RealChild()[code].....

The other way to do this would be to move the generic code out of the Base class and then create 2 Intermediate classes like this [code]...

Then RealChild would inherit from the generic Intermediate and EmptyChild would inherit from the non-generic Intermediate. My problem with that solution is that the Base class is in a separate assembly and I need to keep the code that handles the generic type in that assembly. And there is functionality in the Intermediate class that does not belong in the assembly with the Base class.

Inherit From ListBox ObjectCollection Collection?

Jan 12, 2010

I'm in the process of creating my own version of the Combo Box as MS version does not give me the flexibility I need, this is work fine. I just had a little niggle

The List box contains/uses ObjectCollection to hold all its objects, but it does not have the facility to inform by the way of events that an item has been added etc.

If I inherited from this collection could I add the necessary code to make this happen, I have done this in my previous controls Ive created when I wanted this facility.
